to think these crisps are the best

I remember Sensations being released. All of the flavours/types were on sale in equal measure and I fell in love with the popadom kind.

Then of course some flavours proved more popular (I'm looking at you Thai Sweet Chilli) and some disappeared off shelves.

For the first time in about a decade I've found my faves in Tesco. Get inside me Lime & Coriander Chutney poppadoms!

What usual crisps do like/remember?

And as a crisp lover, never go to Germany. They only have two flavours there, salt and paprika. The horror!

Tastesjustlikecherrycola85 · 11/12/2016 09:30

They used to do cheese monster munch at one point which were lovely, but you can't beat a bag of brannigans roast beef and mustard

historyismything · 11/12/2016 09:55

Walkers max chargrilled steak we're amazing! The paprika ones are lovely though.
I used to love the cheesy snaps, they don't make them anymore. I heard it was because walkers took them over and they already had Quavers!

PuraVida · 11/12/2016 10:26

I have scoured the earth for Philleas Fogg American deli nacho cheese bubble chips. I'm bereft that they've disappears. They were special :(

FeelingSmurfy · 11/12/2016 10:59

Ready salted chipsticks Sad

I order a box of the ones I like online, things like cheese frisps which you can only buy with the other flavours

Kettle crisps mozzarella and pesto. And where are they this year? No sign. Kettley bastards.

TheMasterMurderedMargarita · 11/12/2016 11:37

I don't want crisps I want pretzels. Plain salty pretzels but everytime I've gone to get some there are.none on the shelf only salt and vinegar or some other random flavour Xmas Angry.

TheMasterMurderedMargarita · 11/12/2016 11:38

But favourite are salt and black pepper kettle chips mmmmm.

celeste84 · 11/12/2016 12:24

Best crisps for me are in no order; marmite crisps, roast beef monster munch, red doritoes, green pringles.

moreslackthanslick · 11/12/2016 12:28

Savoury moments!! They used to be always around next to the scampi fries! Now I only ever see them in the occasional dingy corner shop.

Cheesy centres all the way!

queenofthebucket · 11/12/2016 13:16

Can you still get Smith's S&V? Fond memories of childhood treats when the only non crisps available were quavers as far as I remember.

I can remember when space invaders and monster munch came out in the early 70's. and then the standard crisps were Smiths not Walkers

Ever Wondered How Crisp Companies Come Up With Their Flavours?

For crisp aficionados out there, I thought this might be of interest ...

South West-based crisp brand, Burts Potato Chips have just published a blog explaining how they develop the flavours for their crisps. It's quite a fun and informative article.

You can access it either via their website or Facebook page. Oh, and they also have loads of competitions offering free boxes of crisps.

"There’s something about the film, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory which really speaks to British culture. Sure, it’s got an unassuming working class hero, catchy songs, ever-lasting bubblegum and orange-faced Oompa-Loompas, but it’s more than that...

Remember back in the day when S&V McCoys were strong and used to sting any cuts on lips etc - that's what the Co-op ones (mentioned a few times above) do. They are delicious.

eggsontoast07 · 12/12/2016 02:29

Salt n shake
Those bacon shaped Ones in a brown small pack-frazzles?
And golden wonder tube type things in bacon but can't recall name...

slinkysaluki · 12/12/2016 06:43

Crinkles in spring onion flavour, pickled onion Monster Munch, M & S Cheese puffs, Bacon Fries, Walkers cheese and onion.

mummydawn07 · 13/12/2016 09:53

GingerLDN, I have to agree with you on that, I had a packet of salt and vinegar McCoys the other day and it's the first packet of those I've had in ages and I mean ages, and they just weren't as strong and punchy in flavour as they used to be, I was so disappointed they used to be my favourite s&v crisps... not anymore though I will have to find me a new fav

haveacupoftea · 13/12/2016 10:03

I had a bag of pickled onion monster munch yesterday and it had big clumps of extra flavouring at the bottom of the bag Xmas Grin

Rollonbedtime7pm · 13/12/2016 10:46

Tesco's version of frazzles are the greatest crisps ever.

So thick and bacony - soo much nicer than actual frazzles!

Agadooo · 13/12/2016 10:50

I LOVED Marks n Spencer Baked Potato flavour but now don't seem to do them anymore

PromisesPromises · 13/12/2016 10:58

Keogh's cider vinegar and sea salt crisps win for me. Not sure if you can get them on the mainland or just Ireland though.

Sentmeamonkey · 13/12/2016 11:10

Cheese and tomato puffs, I miss them also the ready salted flavour. Also beef monster munch the original ones not the nasty reincarnation ones.

Temporaryname137 · 13/12/2016 11:45

I just discovered "slabs". OMG. Enormous thick crunchy crisps, like comedy blown up enormous thick and crunchy. Try them!!!

BreconBeBuggered · 13/12/2016 11:49

Wow, Temporary, where did you get those? I need them, now.

Temporaryname137 · 13/12/2016 11:53

I got them at an M&S/BP petrol station. Honestly, they are the best crisps I've ever had (and I eat a lot of crisps!!).
