to think these crisps are the best

I remember Sensations being released. All of the flavours/types were on sale in equal measure and I fell in love with the popadom kind.

Then of course some flavours proved more popular (I'm looking at you Thai Sweet Chilli) and some disappeared off shelves.

For the first time in about a decade I've found my faves in Tesco. Get inside me Lime & Coriander Chutney poppadoms!

What usual crisps do like/remember?

queenofthebucket · 10/12/2016 23:19

Does anyone else like peanut butter flavour puffs shaped like wotsits you can get in France
I know its a bit of a curve ball

Fruitbat1980 · 10/12/2016 23:51

Sainsbury's onion rings. Back when they were hard not puffy and full of MSG. God I loved them.

FrankiesKnuckle · 11/12/2016 00:03

YY to pickled onion space raiders. Saved many a hangover those.

Not strictly a crisp but a savoury snack - I pray one day that Worcestershire sauce twiglets make a return. Heaven. Especially the end of bag powdery stuff.

dontpokethebear · 11/12/2016 00:10

Kettle chips used to do a rosemary, sea salt and garlic flavour. They were incredible!

Not crisps, but phileas fogg company used to do 'mignons morceaux' which were basically garlic croutons. Unfortunately they were discontinued. Until I discovered Waitrose did their own version, but then they were discontinued too! Bastards.

SaltyBitch · 11/12/2016 00:27

Just finished my bag of the ones I mentioned in the OP.

God they were good. 10/10 recommend.

I just want to comment on on those of you who mentioned a crisp advent calendar, I read a story about a girl whole loved crisps so her boyfriend made her a homemade crisp advent calendar with a different flavour packet of crisps in it each day.. just wanted to say I would prefer a homemade one with different crisps/sweets/chocolate each day rather than an expensive shop bought one, what about everyone else?? and also what a lucky girl to have such a thoughtful boyfriend lol x

Frisps

Revengeoftheseabass · 11/12/2016 00:52

I miss Deltas too, talkshowhost97!

Seabrooks are cracking crisps, but I was always puzzled by the strapline they used to have on the packets which proclaimed them 'more' than a 'snack' - a very weird use of inverted commas.

I'm partial to M & S crisps, and also McCoy's Salt and Vinegar, although the latter are frequently strong enough to strip the coating from the roof of your mouth!!

SealSong · 11/12/2016 00:52

Queenofthebucket, yes, love those peanut puff things, very moreish.

Also like the paprika flavour crisps you sometimes get in huge bags in Lidl..delish.

GrimDamnFanjo · 11/12/2016 00:54

Seabrooks!,,,,

Arcadia · 11/12/2016 08:41

don'tpokethe you may find these are a bit of a substitute for the phileas fogg crouton things. They do various flavours and are tasty! Had forgotten the phileas fogg tortilla chips they were good.
Love crisps - they have to be hidden from me at home. Love m and s balsamic vinegar crisps but will try those co-op ones people have mentioned.

How has no one mentioned brannigans?! Any crisp that's massively over flavoured and turns my tongue white from salt is a winner here.

Arcadia · 11/12/2016 08:56

drama in pyjamas mentioned beef and mustard branigans

Whowouldfardelsbear · 11/12/2016 09:05

Oh I miss all of those. Here is New Zealand they just do not do crisps properly at all and I spend $$$$$$ at the UK specialist shop on walkers, monster munch and squares.

I am back for a visit in July and fully intend to bring a suitcase full of quavers, tomato snaps, and all the others mentioned above home.

Whowouldfardelsbear · 11/12/2016 09:07

Oh - and I used to love those puff crisps cos you seemed to get loads and loads in each bag.

StrawberrySquash · 11/12/2016 09:08

Sainsbury's are doing a sort of cheese triangle and those Waitrose garlic Mignons Morxeaux substitutes are still showing up on the website. Now, if someone could please find me a Worcester sauce Twiglet.

S&V Disco's - they are hardcore.
Nice & spicy or Scampi & lemon Nik Naks
Worcester sauce or smoked paprika Kettle Chips
Almost any posh crisp from M&S.
It's breakfast time but I want crisps now.

Mrsmadevans · 11/12/2016 09:15

Not crisps but just gorgeous

Taylors are amazing - they actually taste like potatoes. I haven't ever seen them for sale outside Wales, though :(

Otherwise you can't go wrong with Frazzles, Roast Chicken Walkers, or Worcestershire Sauce Wheat Crunchies (I haven't seen those for a long time either).

imnervous · 11/12/2016 09:17

We love the fancy kettle crisps, Wensleydale and chutney flavour. They are gorgeous

bastedyoungturkey · 11/12/2016 09:19

Both of my favourites are discontinued.

3D doritos and Phileas Fogg bubble chips in nacho cheese flavour.

Everytimeref · 11/12/2016 09:23

Seabrooks lattice ready salted crisps. When they are on offer I put on weight as I eat so many packets!

musicposy · 11/12/2016 09:23

These Seabrook jacket potato and butter were my absolute favourite and well worth paying a bit extra for. I also loved Pringles wasabi. You can't seem to get either nowadays, sadly.

If any of you ever find yourselves in North America you absolutely must try dill pickle chips crisps. Either Lay or Ruffles. They are awesome.
