People are unbelievably inconsiderate...or thick or both?

Had a lovely afternoon apart from I was watching a play next to a woman wearing a wide-rimmed hat. OK, didn't affect me in that I could still see, but what about the people behind her? Isn't it common sense not to wear a hat in those circumstances?

Then I went to the bank and had to wait for ages while cashiers explained to customers that they couldn't fulfil their requests. Surely, most over the counter operations are quite simple and if it is not possible, or your request is unintelligible and the cashier has no idea what is needed, you live away from the counter to let other people be served?

How hard can these things be? Urgh, feel better now I have said that. I just think if you go through life being reasonably thoughtful and intelligent about the way you go about things, life is so much easier for everyone?

I sat behind a tall lady at a kids film at the cinema the other day. She had all her hair spiked up on the top of her head. Ok so not exactly a crime but WHY didn't she sit in the edge so she wasn't restricting the kids (and my) view behind her. The screen was half empty and she plonked herself right in the middle!

I came out of the supermarket today and a woman with 2 trolleys stopped to check her receipt... in the doorway. I said excuse me... she said... "Fuck off"

The security guard smiled at me as he ushered her across to one side...

She WU for 2 reasons: Christmas shopping already? The whole shelf of half price Cava?

I'm so pleased it isn't just me. I mean, we all have moments of doing something a bit stupid, but the obliviousness of these people... or you apologise if you're doing something silly! I need a trolley of cava. It was a lovely day, to be fair.

Having one of those days as well. I'm quite heavily pregnant at the moment, and got pushed out of the way by someone when boarding the morning tube. And both the men sat in the priority seats + at least 2 others definitely saw me, my badge, my massive belly and me gripping onto piles with both hands but just kept giving me side eye and then looking away. I get that many many people feel like it's my choice to have a baby and why should they give up their seat, and I really do try to avoid rush hour most days so I don't inconvenience others, but something about the way they kept sneaking looks at my clearly uncomfortable and struggling state just made me want to cry. Sigh.

Generally I agree with you except for the bank thing, for that YABU as the bank if for customer service as well as simple transactions. If you get stuck behind someone with a complicated issue that is tough I'm afraid, their issue/custom is just as valid as yours and they got there first. For all they know if they move aside the next person may have a long winded, complicated issue resulting in them waiting another 10 minutes for the cashier to come back to them. I think it's different if it was a supermarket till or something as there are separate areas for customer service issues.

My gran once burned the feathers on the silly hat of an inconsiderate lady sat in front of her in the cinema. I think she was about 20 at the time.

I had similar last week...restricted view seats in very popular play, person in front leaning so far forwards she was blocking some of the view, then started playing with her hair!! Pulling it out sideways so her hand and hair were then over the remaining view

She did get told at the interval

A man yesterday walked all the way along the taxi queue and hailed the next cab. I said, "hey! Excuse me that's my cab" he turned and snarled really nastily "go ahead and take it then if it makes you fucking happy"

I find people in general these days inconsiderate, would love to go back to my mother and father's era.

I'm always behind the person in a supermarket queue who gets a big surprise when they find out they have to pay.

Genuine shock. Then ages handbags rummaging. Then a huge kerfuffle sorting out receipts, purse and bags.

Kids nativity earlier week. Reception class so lots of tiny shy voices. Super cute.

Apart from family behind chuntering away and making comments THE WHOLE WAY THROUGH. Including 'Who's that kid, he looks knackered, he was well chosen for that part". That would be my son, DICKWADS, playing the Sleepy FRIGGING Shepherd.

Bisquick next time just ask them for the seat, always works to be direct in those situations.

I agree with Leopard. When I was pregnant and needed a seat I asked for one. Was never turned down. I think most people will be kind if you make it clear you need the help.

A man and a woman standing in the middle of a public pedestrian path watching an iPad, I had to say 'excuse me' four times with increasing volume for them to realise someone wanted to get past (pushing a pram), tbf the woman apologised but they both looked really surprised to see me there - it was the school run next to a busy road ffs!

Yes definitely agree and I often wonder if people are getting more inconsiderate or I'm getting older and grumpier.

Today I got onto a packed tube and a man was leaning against the central post so we couldn't hold on - no it's fine, we will just stand here and hope we don't fall over shall we?

And then on the bus a couple with a medium suitcase between them were holding up everyone else whilst they faffed about trying to decide how to put the suitcase aside and where to sit and blah blah blah. Just sit down and let everyone get home!

People generally seem much more wrapped up in their own lives than they used to be.

I have long wavy/curly hair, and my hairstyle usually involves some or most of it being piled on top of my head. I'm also quite tall. I'm very conscious of this in places like the cinema, and naturally shrink down in my seat as far as comfortable. I would never wear a hat! YANBU.
