People are unbelievably inconsiderate...or thick or both?

Had a lovely afternoon apart from I was watching a play next to a woman wearing a wide-rimmed hat. OK, didn't affect me in that I could still see, but what about the people behind her? Isn't it common sense not to wear a hat in those circumstances?

Then I went to the bank and had to wait for ages while cashiers explained to customers that they couldn't fulfil their requests. Surely, most over the counter operations are quite simple and if it is not possible, or your request is unintelligible and the cashier has no idea what is needed, you live away from the counter to let other people be served?

How hard can these things be? Urgh, feel better now I have said that. I just think if you go through life being reasonably thoughtful and intelligent about the way you go about things, life is so much easier for everyone?

Singalong a stupid tonight in the theatre. Loudly joining in the songs (not a panto) and filming the highlights.

Two people who didn't pay before leaving the car park ( one of those where you have to) then blocking the exits while they leap out at the barrier to join the queue to pay, holding everyone up.

Plus side - tween boy next to me in theatre asking me if I wanted him to get me an ice cream at the interval (I'm walking with a stick at the mo).

This happened yesterday! Talk about inconsiderate! The guy held up thousands of people, but hey, he got his phone...

KoalaDownUnder · 08/12/2016 03:33

The fuckhead drivers who cruise around multiple corners without indicating.

And the one who blew through a suburban roundabout yesterday, leaning on his horn the whole way, having an aggro fit when he was in the wrong.

The rule is 'give way to whatever is on the roundabout', not 'give way to whoever is speeding the fastest to try and fly onto it first', you ignorant shitlord.

OP UANBU.
we currently live in an apartment. 1st floor . entrance hall has code to open the door.
our 1st floor neighbour s staying friend ambled home at 5.45am forgot the code and had no keys
cue lots of banging and shouting at the front door gate . let me in..bang bang bang etc til we woke up.
let her in groggily suggesting she take spare keys next time.
she then spent the next 2 hours banging on her friend's front door attempting to wake her . she spent much of that time sitting on the floor kicking the door. her friend must have slept like the dead.cause we heard all of it and she none.

we eventually got an apology but she seemed really put out when i suggested next time she give her friends a set of keys .

Grrrr such selfish behaviour on both parts

Flucker · 08/12/2016 06:00

Totally agree about parking - we have the misfortune of living near a school and our driveway gets blocked at least twice a day and if we have the sheer cheek to ask someone to move, we are met with volleys of abuse! Hang on a minute....!

People who moan like fits about the bus being late then fanny around for ages looking for their purse

People who suddenly stop in front of you when you're out walking

Sniffers, sneezers and coughers on public transport - the majority of them don't cover their mouths

Nearly every person who shops in the coop up the road

All the staff in the coop up the road

I could go on and on about various annoyances but I gotta go!

PoldarksBreeches · 08/12/2016 06:04

School performance yesterday, it's really bloody hard to see the kids as the stage is low, but everybody only goes to see their own, right? When my ds was doing his bit I nipped into the aisle so I could see and film him but a couple 2 rows down did the holding the phone above their heads thing for their kid's bit, causing parents behind them to have to move to see. Then the man stood up and completely blocked the view for the final song/wave bit. He got a clap from several people behind when he finally sat his giant arse down. Fuck those people.

3luckystars · 08/12/2016 06:17

We live near a primary school too and the street nearest the school were plagued with people blocking their driveways every morning. No thought that they might have older school children in another school, or have a job to get to and need to get their out of the driveway before 9am.

It got so bad that the police had to start coming in the mornings. One day the police parked their car in one neighbours driveway so they could keep an eye at the carry on. Then one mother (and she lives about 3 minutes walk away in the same estate) parks her people carrier IN FRONT of the police car, blocking them in!
They waited for her to return and asked her what she was doing. She said "its their own fault for buying a house beside a school. What did they expect? "
Unbelievable! This thread is hilarious.

footballmum · 08/12/2016 06:45

The people who think it's ok to scan a full trolley of shopping on the self-service tills! Then when inevitably every other item is not recognised hogging the self service assistant. These tills are a pain in the arse at the best of times without knobheads making it even more awkward!

Maverickismywingman · 08/12/2016 06:50

Busy shopping centre and kids running amok on iPhones and walking into people. And a man who walked into me and I swear he squared up his shoulders so he would whack into me Angry

CharliePurple · 08/12/2016 07:01

I would say yes but I'm one of those infuriating Pollyanna people who always tries to see the best in everybody unless I am driving behind an idiot who doesn't know that his car has indicators or that we don't stop at green lights

ButteredToastAndStrawberryJam · 08/12/2016 07:02

That's why I like watching these period dramas, it's all so civilised and polite.

CharliePurple · 08/12/2016 07:07

Ignorant, dumb people who beep at you for not pulling out at a junction when they can't see the road that you are pulling out on to and therefore have no idea if it is safe or not. Yesterday it was very foggy and visibility was awful and many bloody idiots drivers thought their car looked like a ready brek kid without them putting the lights on.

SharkBastard · 08/12/2016 07:09

YANBU! DH doesn't like walking about with me, I can lose it up to 100 times a day with selfish people.

Walking out of the hospital, some twit just stops dead in the doorway causing everyone to then stop dead. Had to tell him to find somewhere else to fucking stand.

Pedestrians who don't press the button whilst standing next to the button. I will happily sparta kick you into oncoming traffic, like I'm here to do your fucking shit. Inconsiderate cunts.

Parents with pushchairs who walk side by side so all us without pushchairs are expected to walk into the road. No that's not going to happen, and I'm fucking stubborn.

Slow walkers and people who dawdle, step aside, recognise that others walk at variable speeds and don't want to have to dance around behind you. Passive aggressive tuts from me galore

People who stand too close to others, sort your fucking shit out. It's not right! Stop it.

People who park right next to you when you're trying to get out of the car despite there being plenty of empty spaces around. Who does this? It's weird. Stop

And finally, just other people. Urgh

DontOpenDeadInside · 08/12/2016 07:16

Parents at school whose phone clocks are wrong by a few mins and bang on the class door telling the teacher to let their kid in.
Same parents who when everyone had queued up for the school play, hung back (which I thought was odd) then once everyone had been seated went and got their own chairs and plonked them at the end of the front row.
Also in the queue to ask for their kids to be released early (massive queue) pushed straight to the front.

thecatsarecrazy · 08/12/2016 07:31

I'm heavily pregnant at the moment and quite big and uncomfortable. Main thing pissing me off is people walking towards me on payments when whole family's or couples take up the whole space and expect me to somehow squeeze past without making any effort to move. I was having dinner with dh out somewhere the other week and nipped to the loo, it was ages before I could get back to my seat because people just kept walking towards me not giving me and bump any space so I had to avoid them bumping into me.

RedBlu · 08/12/2016 07:39

People who ignore the fact there is a queue for the bus / people waiting and as soon as the bus arrives will barge past people to get on first. There are two older ladies who do this every single day on the buses I use, without fail just push past and if you say anything either ignore you or pretend they hadn't noticed the large queue...

People who stop dead whilst walking around town and block the paths

The people in shops and public transport who don't have money ready

People who park on the path so they can literally roll out the car door into their house because they possibility walk!

LRDtheFeministDragon · 08/12/2016 07:45

Yep. People at box junctions for me, too. There's one near us where idiots turning right block the whole thing. Someone nearly hit me the other day because she'd gone through the lights when they were green, got stuck before the box where she couldn't see the lights, and when it cleared and my light went green, she decided to zoom forward. Hmm And was then surprised I wasn't thrilled and didn't feel inclined to let her in nicely. Hmm Hmm

Also, this one didn't actually annoy me because I was amused by the cheek, but it was rude. A lady of a certain age got to the self-service tills, imperiously called someone over, and insisted he scan her shopping and help her pay. She was so sure of herself he just did, so she skipped a queue of about 20 people. Who all stood watching while she calmly made sure he packed her bags the way she wanted them, too.

WouldHave · 08/12/2016 07:49

How can phone clocks be wrong?

museumum · 08/12/2016 07:55

No, sorry, if my bank teller can't help me because I'm trying to do something more complicated than pay a cheque in or because they've messed up then no I will not just move aside - not until the bank call someone who can help or suggest some other plan of action. It's up to the bank to find enough tellers so that unusual requests can be delt with - particularly now most people do the simple things online or through machines.

DontOpenDeadInside · 08/12/2016 08:04

I don't know, but mine and dps are out by a few min of each other? Maybe they're just more impatient than I thought then!

happystory · 08/12/2016 08:05

My favourite driving idiots are the ones that dangerously and aggressively overtake you then end up one car in front of you at the lights. Then gun it off just to show how important they are.

kungfupannda · 08/12/2016 08:13

I think that a surprising number of people are just completely and utterly oblivious to the needs of anyone else around them.

The school run nearly sends my blood pressure through the roof most days. Lots of nice, smiley parents who no support the school and are polite to the teachers and no doubt think of themselves as considerate members of society. Except that they park so badly that you can't get your boot open or get out of the space. And they block people's drives. And stop in the middle of the road to wind their window down and chat to someone while the bus sits waiting behind them. And walk four abreast on the pavement and look surprised when you can't fold yourself into less than single file, or magically disappear to make way. Or let their children run into you on balance bikes and scooters. Or block the classroom door to watch their reception child going in and sitting down while all the other children try to squeeze through the minuscule gap between about six parental bottoms. Or stand and gaze blankly at the parent who is struggling with a child with SN and desperately trying to get past. Or park their buggies across the gate.

One of these days I am going to explode in a massive mushroom cloud. Just be a bit more bloody aware of your surroundings and, if necessary, do a quick, regular mental check of 'am I being a massive twat right now?'

And breathe...

dementedma · 08/12/2016 08:16

Cyclists!!! Travelling at four miles a fortnight so everyone else has to! Selfish twats.

Fieldsandgrasses · 08/12/2016 08:21

Not just me then! Feel better now!

7SunshineSeven7 · 08/12/2016 08:23

Dementedma I'm a cyclist and I know for a fact I can't keep up with traffic however its also illegal to ride on the pavement, I never know what to do. I just keep as close to the kerb as possible and if there are lots of cars behind me I pull in to let them pass :(
