I am a cleaner, a very good one.
I have a good client base and have only ever been recommended for jobs. Never advertised.
Occasionally been head hunted by sil/mil!

I have rules, just reasonable I think?!
AIBU?

  1. If you want me to use my own cleaning tools, let me use your drive.

  2. If a member of your household has been ill (novo virus) a little warning would be nice before I deal with the toilets.

  3. If you want me to change bedding, obviously fine, can you please strip the bed yourself when you've done whatever it is you do that leaves the sheets covered in that. Also if you don't want vibrators wiped over with a zoflora cloth, don't leave them out.

  4. Pervy members of you family will get a slap if they keep asking about uniforms and polishing knobs.

  5. I will clean your house top to bottom to my standard (OCD), please don't ask me to not spend as long in one room so I can do something else you've thought of that's not my job! Pay a gardener.

Phew! That was quite cathartic!
I have name changed but been on here a while.

It's probably just me, OCD!

I'll try that, thanks lama. Sugar soap sounds tasty.

sparechange · 06/12/2016 13:52

Where abouts in London, OP?

I don't have a drive, but tick all your other boxes, and you could bring your dog with you!

rightsofwomen · 06/12/2016 13:54

OP, are you referring to a single household or is this a collection from many?

Yuk yuk yuk! I am sorry some people treat like that. They are lacking in common decency it seems.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 06/12/2016 13:56

Definitely not a cleaner (I tend to attract muck and grime, rather than repelling it), but I have had good results with a US product called Barkeeper's Friend and also with biological laundry detergent for cleaning stubborn stains and grimy grout. BKF does clean rice / pasta boil over. For paint I use turpentine...

SapphireStrange · 06/12/2016 13:59

Are you really supposed to clean the fridge and cupboards once a fortnight? Mine get cleaned about once a year well the fridge does, the cupboards never

My cleaner doesn't do those. She spends ages folding and stacking my pile of clothes in my bedroom instead.

YelloDraw · 06/12/2016 13:59

I have questions, what is the best product for getting rid of limescale?

Vikal

Does anything really clean grout? Especially once mould has started (despite ventilating and doing all the stuff you're supposed to do)?

HG Mould Spray

I have a question for you OP: what to use to clean a glass hob to leave it shiny and stain free??? Every product I try seems to leave a stain on the glass surface....

whiteonesugar · 06/12/2016 14:07

Our cleaning is organised through a company and the latest person we have doesn't do the shower screen as well as the last. It makes me sad. A spotless smooth shower screen is a thing of joy. Is it bad that I complained to the boss about it?!

Alas sparechange, he is a 10 stone mastiff who won't get in cars!

Generally all of these in every house!
People are disgusting!! Although this will be of no surprise, the more money the dirtier they are.

rightsofwomen · 06/12/2016 14:15

OP, do you actually have OCD, only it's a niggle of mine when people who are meticulous or want to laugh off something obsessional by calling it OCD (not saying you're doing the latter).

donajimena · 06/12/2016 14:15

I'm a cleaner too. A very good one. I've just come back from a new client who whilst very nice stood over me to 'direct' me. I'd have got far more done if she had let me get on with it!

Lakeland hob heaven is great but I've been known to use a bit of pledge when I know it's clean. Shiny!

I'd complain too

I feel your pain! If you have to watch me, you don't trust me and shouldn't be employing me!

I'm actually quite disgusted that people leave icky bedsheets for you to deal with 😷 I'm that weirdo that even strips hotel beds or guest beds when I've stayed with friends.

Christmas

Calm down, do a bit at a time. Just ten minutes a day. Give yourself a target. Clean a cupboard, you have to be ruthless but it's worth it

Properly diagnosed. Had to have counselling. Was awful, I had to leave my government job due to it.

Since I started this, OCD is satisfied and I even earn more some weeks.

Yep, people are vile!

OP posts:
Itsmytemporaryname · 06/12/2016 14:33

I love the idea that there's this family out there smearing their bodily fluids over everything and then flouncing out and leaving someone to deal with it. Brazen.
You should sack these clients though, it sounds like you need a flame thrower, not a duster!

Randytortoise · 06/12/2016 14:35

I have a daft question for you op. I have recently started work full time and we are struggling to keep the house clean and tidy. I have been considering getting a cleaner but I don't know what exactly you can ask them to do Blush . So what can you ask a cleaner to so ?

Randytortoise · 06/12/2016 14:35

Do not so !

SVJAA · 06/12/2016 14:35

Iamacleaner I actually couldn't cope with that, you're my hero. I'm OCD diagnosed too and the thought of that makes me want to cry.
