I am a cleaner, a very good one.
I have a good client base and have only ever been recommended for jobs. Never advertised.
Occasionally been head hunted by sil/mil!

I have rules, just reasonable I think?!
AIBU?

  1. If you want me to use my own cleaning tools, let me use your drive.

  2. If a member of your household has been ill (novo virus) a little warning would be nice before I deal with the toilets.

  3. If you want me to change bedding, obviously fine, can you please strip the bed yourself when you've done whatever it is you do that leaves the sheets covered in that. Also if you don't want vibrators wiped over with a zoflora cloth, don't leave them out.

  4. Pervy members of you family will get a slap if they keep asking about uniforms and polishing knobs.

  5. I will clean your house top to bottom to my standard (OCD), please don't ask me to not spend as long in one room so I can do something else you've thought of that's not my job! Pay a gardener.

Phew! That was quite cathartic!
I have name changed but been on here a while.

What do you charge????

GettingitwrongHauntingatnight · 06/12/2016 14:36

Do you mean people leave shit on toilet re nouro virus comment?Shock

Iamacleaner · 06/12/2016 14:46

Randy

Not daft at all!

Ask them to come and view the house, you both talk about what you need doing and then it can be agreed between you.

Then also agree a price!

Petra

Varies client to client. Generally £35-£50 per hour

Gettingitwrong

Yes. It's often the kids though, which is unavoidable sometimes but warning would be nice.

Rather than a shit/vomit covered toilet!

Hello

How would you go about getting permanent marker scribbles off a fridge? Thanking you in advance :)

Oh and the sticky residue from stickers, how do you get rid of it?

You sound amazing, I'm adding you to my Christmas list...

pingothedingo · 06/12/2016 14:58

sigh. I dream of a cleaner! Do you have the energy to do your own house when get home ? I always secretly imagined cleaners lived in chaos as couldn't face doing their job all over again when get home.

pingothedingo · 06/12/2016 14:59

OP, I think you should start a £1 per question charge as a sideline!

datingbarb · 06/12/2016 15:00

I'm a self employed cleaner to and your spot on the ones with the most money are the worst! I have come across some of the most filthy scummy lazy people

I'm luckily enough to be able to be very fussy about who I take on as I come highly recommend and at times in the past have had a waiting list.

Some people amaze me, call me out about cleaning there homes and tell me they will pay me £7 a hour...... I'm no you won't I'm £15 per hour because I'm worth that, I provide all materials and references so I suggest you put s add on gumtree for some random to come do it for you.

loobyloo1234 · 06/12/2016 15:14

I have a cleaner and have to provide all the cleaning products ... is this normal? Confused (Sorry OP, just as you said to ask any questions)

Iamacleaner · 06/12/2016 15:23

Misery

Brace yourself.... WD40!!
Bloody awesome.
But if you have ink on fabrics use hairspray, loads of it then wash

Pingo

My house is a doddle, takes me 30 minutes top to bottom.
Kids being in uni helps... Grin

Looby

I use my own products because I like the results! But will use mops, hoovers, brooms that belong to client unless they don't want me too. That's when I need the drive!!

It's like they don't expect you to have any pride in your work!

WD40 has been added to the shopping list! Thank you :)

Iamacleaner · 06/12/2016 15:44

Misery

If you have a marble fireplace use it on that too!

Eww, sounds delightful!!!!

Have you any idea how to get calpol stains out of carpets? Ours looks awful!

GettingitwrongHauntingatnight · 06/12/2016 16:10

God op I find shit/sivk in the toilet totally unacceptable. I would never leave that for my cleaner, I always check the toilets and clean/bleach before she comes. Grim

Iamacleaner · 06/12/2016 16:13

Tolerance

Vanish carpet and upholstery could work, may take a few applications though! My favourite is biological washing powder in HOT water, value stuff is great, and sponge away. Takes time but smells great

toleranceofflop · 06/12/2016 16:41

fantastic, thank you so much! I will give it a go!

everythingis · 06/12/2016 18:04

WhereYouLeftIt · 06/12/2016 18:16

YouTheCat · 06/12/2016 18:25

Domestos mould and mildew spray has made my tiles and grout come up really white. You don't even have to scrub - just spray and leave a short while.

My house is a midden but at least my tiles are shiny. Grin

Iamacleaner · 06/12/2016 18:37

YouTheCat

does it work on sealant? That is what I need!! Fed up of replacing sealant because it's not clean enough!

OP posts:
YouTheCat · 06/12/2016 18:39

To some extent, it does. Parts of mine are past saving and need replacing but other parts that were just a bit grimy came up well.
