To think my mum should still buy me an advent calendar?

This year she hasn't! Shock She isn't even ashamed either. Apparently I'm too old but I think that's bullshit.

She's ruined Christmas for me now. How am I meant to know when Christmas Day is if I can't countdown with chocolate?!

Should I go no contact with her now? She bought my child two! One for my house and one for hers. I'm sick of the favouritism.

*Disclaimer: kind of lighthearted. Kind of genuine.

Never to old to have an advent calendar. Kicking myself as I forgot to buy one!

IHaveACuntingPlan · 01/12/2016 09:26

But yourself three in protest. They'll all be reduced now so you'll get them cheap.

HandbagCrazy · 01/12/2016 09:27

YANBU and I understand completely. This year is the first one in 32 years my RM hasn't bought me one and she's not ashamed either.

Can you eat all the chocs in hers as a protest? Angry

IvorHughJarrs · 01/12/2016 09:28

Absolutely agree. DS's girlfriend was a bit Hmm last year when I sent him the obligatory chocolate one and she implied he was too old for one but he isn't 30 yet! Changed her tune when I offered her one too this year though!

Huldra · 01/12/2016 09:33

Go around to her house everyday and scoff the one she got for your child, tilt your head, smile sweetly and say thanks Mum.

Or order two of these and have one a day, once you've run out its Christmas.

YoHoHoandabottleofTequila · 01/12/2016 09:35

My DC have two advent calendars each. I have none. I am going to tell my mum she has failed. Might even literally cry. Grin

londonrach · 01/12/2016 09:35

Its not 1 st december is it? Ive forgotten to get some.

Iwannabelikecommonpeople · 01/12/2016 09:36

Oh dear. NC is the way forward here ! Grin

OhhBetty · 01/12/2016 09:39

You should notify social services. And definitely log it with 101. No advent calendar is criminal!

TondelayaDellaVentamiglia · 01/12/2016 09:39

I am racking my brains as to what i did with the children's advent calendars last year...i probably have until the weekend to magic them up

I have two up today...one I bought last year and chanced across recently, and one of the Nutcracker soldier ones but that's for the dogs.

Dh said i was a crazychristmaswoman when he saw me giving the dogs their piece of kibble each.
He did not moan last year when I made him a Beer Advent Calendar.

I usually do the children one each (plus ds1's flat mate) and one for the dogs to share, and maybe a spare one in case anyone visits and feels left out

MoreBushThanMoss · 01/12/2016 09:46

Pah if you think that's bad ... My mum didn't get me a birthday card this year - because she's just discovered facetime and FaceTimed me at 7am because "that's better than a card, isn't it?"

I would have thought it was cute- except she only really FaceTimed so she could look at the new baby Xmas Angry

DP sorted the advent calendar this year. Lindt. Massive. And the baby can't have ANY.

TobleroneBoo · 01/12/2016 09:52

My mum bought DP and I one Grin

LizzieMacQueen · 01/12/2016 09:52

Go down the shops now and get yourself a half price one.

M&S have the truffle ones for £20 now.

VivienneWestwoodsKnickers · 01/12/2016 09:54

I commented last night to DP that this is the first year both our mothers have neglected to send us advent calendars. sob

Vivienne aged 35 and 3/4

TwitterQueen1 · 01/12/2016 09:55

I would be sacked from my job as a mum if I hadn't got the DCs a calendar (Lindt). we also got the dog one - but she didn't appear too keen on it. She spat it out!

LottieDoubtie · 01/12/2016 09:55

My heartless mother did this a few many years ago I was only 25! Unbelievable!

I've made DH buy me one every year since! He gave it to me in bed this morning before the toddler was awake/he went to work. He's a keeper 😃

JoffreyBaratheon · 01/12/2016 09:59

Get yourself a stupidly expensive Lego one. (Lindt do lovely ones, if it has to be chocolate). Open it ostentatiously in front of her.

dun1urkin · 01/12/2016 09:59

YANBU!!!

I was devastated when I didn't get an advent calendar from my mum for the first time. I complained. And now get a proper (crap) cadburys one every year. As does my completely not bothered DH (so it's fair and he doesn't get jealous per my DM)

This is actually an improvement on my childhood, when I NEVER got a chocolate advent calendar.

I am 40, not 4 Grin

Serialweightwatcher · 01/12/2016 09:59

Poor you Wink ...... I stopped giving my 2 ds's advent calendars when they were about 10 and 7 because the whole lot got eaten on the first day every year prior Hmm

WorkAccount · 01/12/2016 10:00

We have 4 in our house 1 each 2 adults, 2 kids

badtime · 01/12/2016 10:02

So it's not just the Fail that gets its stories from MN:

TroysMammy · 01/12/2016 10:04

My DM has never bought me an Advent calendar as an adult and I didn't even have one as a child. Do you think I need to go into therapy?

BTW she has in the last few years given me a Christmas card and I see her on the day wtf is that all about? I blame my Dsis for starting that one up. I also see her on the day too.

Losgunna · 01/12/2016 10:05

I haven't had one for the last two years. I'm 26. Still resentful Xmas Envy

LikeBigBotsAndICannotLie · 01/12/2016 10:06

My two still get them. Funny, it was the threat from their dad of eating one of their chocolates this morning that got the lazy arsed one out their pit. I tried and they were just like 'eh whatever!' I only eat Ferrero Rocher and even then I have to be really in the mood.

Can you not do what my husband does - undo the packaging with the skill of a diamond thief and put it back together to make it look like it hasn't been opened? Focus on days nearer to Xmas and work your way back. Clearly your acting skills will need to be on fleek for the reveal Chocolate
