To think my mum should still buy me an advent calendar?

This year she hasn't! Shock She isn't even ashamed either. Apparently I'm too old but I think that's bullshit.

She's ruined Christmas for me now. How am I meant to know when Christmas Day is if I can't countdown with chocolate?!

Should I go no contact with her now? She bought my child two! One for my house and one for hers. I'm sick of the favouritism.

*Disclaimer: kind of lighthearted. Kind of genuine.

Cancel the cheque. And maybe go NC after New Year (she might redeem herself with a fabulous Christmas present)

BooRadley35 · 01/12/2016 12:19

The real trouble starts when they forget the selection box on Christmas Day!!

ProudBadMum · 01/12/2016 12:26

If the selection box isn't there this Christmas then I am done. The woman will become a stranger to me

I'll be 40 this month, my mum bought me an advent calendar without chocolate. I'm so neglected.

iklboo · 01/12/2016 12:30

I've got a haribo one!

MitzyLeFrouf · 01/12/2016 12:34

My mother has never once bought me an advent calendar. How’s that for bad parenting!

The Christmas she stops buying me a selection box however will be the day we part ways forever more! I think I’ll send her a text with those very words right now.

Ilovenannyplum · 01/12/2016 13:12

I've got a Shopkins one.

I'm 28 and literally have no idea what Shopkins are but it was the last one left in the shop. DP has a Paw Patrol one Grin
DS has Trolls.

I think you should go no contact with your mum, it's the only way.....

OvO · 01/12/2016 13:21

I'm 36 and my mum always buys me one!

This year she suggested NOT buying me Christmas pyjamas. Xmas Shock I could have had an extra present instead.

MADNESS.

Its obligatory that we all get new pyjamas, preferably matching design but different colours. It doesn't matter that I don't see my sisters on Christmas morning. It's tradition!

I reminded her we'd be the ones choosing her home one day so she'd better behave. Xmas Wink

ProudBadMum · 01/12/2016 13:26

I'm going to tell my mum that she's the worst mum ever and everyone else has them.

I get pjs and slippers every Christmas from mum. If it stops then so does my love

Phew I am so relieved!

DD is 21 and got her advent calendar as usual. I am dreading the day she turns round and tells me she is too old. Looks like that might not be for a while yet if you lot are anything to go by! Xmas Grin

ChocoChou · 01/12/2016 13:28

My mum still gets me an advent calendar Grin this year it's a Yankee candle one with festive tea lights in each day ooooooh!!!

KurriKurri · 01/12/2016 14:32

I bought one for my DD (she is 27) and I hid it in my bedroom and made her hunt for it

Paddington68 · 01/12/2016 14:42

Are Childline aware?

ProudBadMum · 01/12/2016 14:53

Childline are not aware yet. She is picking up the baby for a sleepover in a hour so giving her the chance to turn up with one for me...

My mum got upset because I wouldn't let her buy me one as I don't like chocolate!

I like the sound of the haribo one. My dog and cat have advent calendars though!

Apparently DH has bought me a Yankee Candle one but it's not here yet!

SomewhatIdiosyncratic · 01/12/2016 16:10

My mum said I was too old when I was a teenager. I showed her... I bought myself one with great glee when I went to uni, and most years since then Wink

ProudBadMum · 01/12/2016 20:01

She didn't bring me a calendar! ShockAngrySad

My mum buys me and my sister one.
I'm 51, she's 57.

alreadytaken · 02/12/2016 08:22

Didnt know that adults still had advent calendars until I read about it on mumsnet. My (now adult) child complained about lack of variety in their 24 gift calendar so they no longer get one. But I doubt they'll go NC while they still get Christmas gifts.

meridithssister · 02/12/2016 08:27

I didn't get an Easter egg either....
