Do I put my cat at risk or is DH a worry wart.

DH has just had a go at me.

Every few weeks I make the cat aged 1 year 5 months scrabbled egg. It's a little treat normally as I know cat food is better for her.

DH thinks I have put her at risk because cats shouldn't eat eggs.

Aibu to feed cute little cat eggs.

cats can eat eggs - what is he on about?

Weedsnseeds1 · 29/11/2016 21:23

It's fine for a cat to eat cooked egg as an occasional treat.

DorotheaHomeAlone · 29/11/2016 21:23

Cars can eat eggs. It's dairy they're not good with.

Yambabe · 29/11/2016 21:24

Your DH is worrying over nothing.

Feeding your cat nothing but raw eggs on a frequent basis and in large quantities could cause problems.

An occasional cooked egg is fine. My vet recommends scrambled egg as something to try if one of mine has lost their appetite due to illness, post-surgery or trauma.

GrizzyFrontBum · 29/11/2016 21:25

My cats eat dead rabbits. I'm sure some cooked egg won't harm them wtf

DodoRevival · 29/11/2016 21:25

I think it's possibly raw eggs he's thinking of - not advised for the same reason we are which is salmonella.

I think some cats can be allergic, otherwise they are a good source of protein.

Heirhelp · 29/11/2016 21:25

MOg the cat loves boiled eggs. Unhelpful, but I like the books.

SabineUndine · 29/11/2016 21:25

Cats can eat cooked eggs. My RSPCA cat care manual says so. You do need to be careful you don't cook them in salted butter, though. But just microwaved or scrambled without fat is fine.

TofuCat · 29/11/2016 21:25

My vet always recommends scrambled egg after an operation Confused

EveOnline2016 · 29/11/2016 21:25

She is my second cat, but sadly my 1st cat had to be PTS as a kitten due to kidney failure. So I new to this cat owning ( well obeying ) lark

YABU - cats don't neeeeeed scrambled egg Biscuit.......

CozumelFox · 29/11/2016 21:26

What will he think when she polishes off a nest of eggs, birds and a mouse too?

DodoRevival · 29/11/2016 21:26

You could give him a Mog book. Mog was partial to the odd boiled egg.

Badcat666 · 29/11/2016 21:26

Of course it's ok to feed cooked eggs to cats, they are a good source of taurine.

Soubriquet · 29/11/2016 21:26

Eggs are fine for the cat as a treat

DodoRevival · 29/11/2016 21:27

My cat knocks bird eggs out of trees (no idea how) and eats what's inside. I'm sure lots do it in the wild. Cats are hunters, they can cope with home cooked eggs.
I'm still not giving mine up despite the pleading eyes tho -MY food

DrinkReprehensibly · 29/11/2016 21:30

Vet has recommended scrambled egg to me as a light meal for the cat after he came out of pet hospital after an operation, so I think it's definitely fine!

Topseyt · 29/11/2016 21:37

I was making myself an egg mayonnaise sandwich a while back. I turned my back just for a few seconds and when I looked back my cat was happily munching it. AngryShock

Cats are fine with the odd bit of cooked egg.

Your DH has his wires crossed.

Crispbutty · 29/11/2016 21:38

Dunno about cats but my mum cooked our Bassett hound a soft boiled egg, with two slices of whole meal toast and butter cut into little squares every day for breakfast... He lived to be 17.. Grin

AngryGinger · 29/11/2016 21:39

My cat used to love scrambled egg! Don't know what he's on about, just smile and nod and go on as normal

ghostyslovesheets · 29/11/2016 21:39

my cat stole a big chunk of left over Toad in The Hole, a pot of Creme Caramel (empty but not washed) and a piece of toast yesterday alone

1 egg wont hurt

AliceInUnderpants · 29/11/2016 21:40

Last time my cat had an upset stomach, the vet suggested scrambled egg as it would be easy to eat/

KittensWithChristmasHatsOn · 29/11/2016 21:41

Egg is fine.

As are sweet chilli crisps according to one of my pusses.

Freshly caught rabbit and mice go down a treat too here.
