AIBU to think it's silly that DS can't wear these to nursery?

DS had some leggings on today - they're gorgeous! They have monsters on (not scary) but apparently he isn't allowed to wear them? They don't have a uniform, but apparently a Mum said that they scared her daughter Confused WTAF.

Bogey, I also look like Max wall in leggings and ankle boobs I think my legs are too skinny and my bum and tum too big..lol (but that's another thread!)

pregnantat50 · 30/11/2016 01:18

Ankle Boots...:(

MommaGee · 30/11/2016 01:22

Ankle boob's are what old ladies have

Graphista · 30/11/2016 02:06

I have ankle boobs Sad the perils of aging!

Bogey no I guessed she wasn't the brightest star in the sky Grin

Bogeyface · 30/11/2016 02:08

Can I join the ankle boob club? 6 kids. I had ankle boobs by 29!

Graphista · 30/11/2016 02:32

Oh bogey I don't even have that excuse only 1 kid. 4 pregnancies though does that count?

Chemistria · 30/11/2016 08:00

Read a few pages before it turned into a conspiracy theory. A friend on Facebook posted a pic of her new little baby boy wearing a pair of really funky leggings the other day - I asked where they were from as I'd like to get some for my daughter in Utero and possibly my son - and she posted a link to the (Etsy) site I'm assuming, so I could have a look? (Also Fred and Noah) I don't get why it's such a big deal! Anyway

They are gorgeous leggings and my 2 year old DS has been to nursery before dressed in some pale blue cat leggings (originally meant for girls but I thought he could pull them off) he had loads of compliments Grin long live the leggings

AddictedtoLove · 30/11/2016 08:47

why oh why would you put your son in leggings?

I know it's really terrible isn't it? Forcing her DS to catch the gay.

FFS, it's normal for children to wear leggings in the rest of Europe. Heck, even grown ups (men sand women) wear leggings in the rest of Europe when it's cold.

You'd think that we've never had women's liberation & criticism of sexist gender roles to go by some of the stupid posts in here at the moment.

pinkblink · 30/11/2016 09:04

My 2 & 3 year olds wear leggings, I don't think they look ridiculous, nor do I worry other people might Smile zara do a great range by the way

I love leggings, so cheap and practical - comfortable, easy to wash and dry and don't require ironing - win win Grin

I prefer plain though, the ones linked wouldn't be my taste at all (look like jammies) and aren't truly leggings. More like slim fit jammies joggers.

I also am horrified by their price!

I think you are doing the right thing by not putting them on ds for nursery again. I always bought very cheap clothes for nursery anyway personally!!

Soubriquet · 30/11/2016 10:52

soub I need those leggings in my sons life!! Where did you get them from and please tell me they're not like £20

Sainsburys! And they were about £8. He's starting to outgrow them now though, so I'm happy to pass them on to you if it's 12-18 you need

ncayley115 · 30/11/2016 10:56

SouthofMaui they do not look ridiculous on a boy! How rude! My toddler looks lovely in his Joules stripy leggings! OP If they are scaring another child maybe try them once more and if they are still upsetting maybe save them for at home. Once again leggings are great on boys!

SVJAA · 30/11/2016 11:02

I wouldn't put leggings on DS2 because he doesn't like fitted clothes, even snug pyjama bums are a no go but I really don't see why people have a problem with it?

PoshFaye · 30/11/2016 11:04

Kids getting scared by a pattern on a pair of fucking leggings??? I fear for the future of these kids, I really do.

Jesus Christ. YANBU.

Meadows76 · 30/11/2016 11:15

Kids getting scared by a pattern on a pair of fucking leggings??? I fear for the future of these kids, I really do So do I. Particularly with the non understanding dickish attitude of some people. You should be ashamed of yourself for that. Some kids do have genuine fears. You have NO idea what the child sees or relates the patter on the leggings to. What the fuck is being a little bit more understanding with pre schoolers.

Jesus Christ exactly, how on earth do we expect children to tell us their fears if that the kind of attitude they are up against.

PoshFaye · 30/11/2016 11:17

If they're frightened by a pattern on a pair of trousers they're going to have a hell of a time as they get older and realise that the real world doesn't pander to irrational fears!

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 30/11/2016 11:18

Who says he can't wear them? Unless the nursery have said no and given a sensible reason then wear away!

WingMirrorSpider · 30/11/2016 11:38

I think they look lovely and wish they'd been around when ds was little. They look so comfy.

Apart from the designs they look pretty similar to skinny joggers which seem to be popular amongst older boys/teens/young men. I really don't see a difference.

Tanith · 30/11/2016 12:13

I asked a parent not to send a child's monster t-shirt with him. Not because the kids were scared of the t-shirt so much as the little darling was scaring the kids with it by growling, chasing, snarling and threatening that the monster would eat them.

So much disruption and tears, he was warned and wouldn't listen so the t-shirt was banned!

jmszel · 30/11/2016 12:19

Another boy here who wears leggings and tights, he's 20 months at the moment but will keep buying until he no longer likes them. Slugs & snails tights are super :)

SalemSaberhagen · 30/11/2016 12:31

Mabel + Pea do some lovely leggings too.

MommaGee · 30/11/2016 12:32

Alas I reckon our boys are about the same size then as we're coming towards the end of 12-18 on the waist 😭😭😭 but not the legs cos he's short like me.
I really also need to shop in sainsburys more but I don't have a local one

SalemSaberhagen · 30/11/2016 12:33

Bollocks, it's maple and pea. www.etsy.com/uk/shop/MapleandPea

I won a pair in a Facebook competition, was really pleased with them.

Soubriquet · 30/11/2016 12:37

Ah sorry mama boys clothes shopping is so hard at times
