Teacher making comments relating to pupils periods?

Meadows76 · 24/11/2016 16:16

Fuck. DD came home today and casually (whilst ranting about her English lesson) mentioned that her teacher had said something about her mood and what week it was. I can't remember the exact wording of it, but it was a direct dig at the fact that she may be on her period, which as it happens, she is.

Totally out of order?

Yes, rude, personal and also sexist.

KingJoffreysRestingCuntface · 24/11/2016 16:18

Yes.

Write a letter suggesting she winds her neck in.

ShowMePotatoSalad · 24/11/2016 16:20

Ooh dear. I'd take a very dim view of this. Totally out of order. Not sure what can be done about it really. But anything that is tantamount to "time of the month?" is very inappropriate.

Having said that, there is another side to this. Your DD must understand that she can't use being on her period as an excuse to be moody or rude to a teacher and that she must still behave in class. It works both ways.

Meadows76 · 24/11/2016 16:20

Write a letter suggesting she winds her neck in. HE.

Your DD must understand that she can't use being on her period as an excuse to be moody or rude to a teacher. She didn't, it was the teacher that made the uninvited reference to periods.

Sexist twat.

GinIsIn · 24/11/2016 16:22

Tell her to smile sweetly and say 'no, just be stifled by stake, middle-aged testosterone....' What a wanker!

Clickclickclick · 24/11/2016 16:22

I would contact the head and make a complaint about teachers being sexist. Wtf

Clickclickclick · 24/11/2016 16:23

*this teacher, not teachers

GinIsIn · 24/11/2016 16:24

Or a loud "how odd that you are so interested in my uterus, Sir" should cover it.

Meadows76 · 24/11/2016 16:24

I would contact the head. I phoned school and made an appointment for next Thursday (school is closed mon/tue/wed)

He is a sexist twat. Can your daughter complian to her head of year? That really is totally unacceptable.

ShowMePotatoSalad · 24/11/2016 16:26

Meadows76 fair enough! even if she had it would have still been completely unacceptable on the teacher's part.

Amandahugandkisses · 24/11/2016 16:26

That is really nasty - and sexist too.

Meadows76 · 24/11/2016 16:27

I don't agree that DD should respond with any sort of smart comment. His is a teacher and she is a child. She shouldn't be put in a position where she has to retaliate.

Allthebestnamesareused · 24/11/2016 16:27

Was it a male teacher?

lottieandmia · 24/11/2016 16:28

Omg - a man saying it is even worse. Completely misogynist.

KingJoffreysRestingCuntface · 24/11/2016 16:29

It was a man?

Well, that's just unpleasant and sexist. I don't think that's proper teacher/student chatter. It feels wrong.

Greengoddess12 · 24/11/2016 16:30

Don't think the op stated the teacher was male of female.

Totally unacceptable, personal and sexist. Good on you for complaining.

Meadows76 · 24/11/2016 16:35

Yes I confirmed upthread the teacher is male.

OP posts:
Gileswithachainsaw · 24/11/2016 16:37

Oh of course...cos there has to be something wrong with your dd to disagree with what the teacher or someone else said..Hmm

She couldn't possibly have a point abut anything besides kittens and sewing.

BratFarrarsPony · 24/11/2016 16:37

honestly that is disgusting.
Complain complain complain.
I take it other students heard him say this?

ShowMePotatoSalad · 24/11/2016 16:41

Gileswithachainsaw it's possible that the OP's daughter was behaving moodily or answering back (which isn't OK in class whether the pupil is male or female). However that does not for a single second mean that this teacher has any right whatsoever to mention or ask about periods. If he had an issue with the way she was behaving he should have dealt with it in the normal way not ask her about her period. That is just disgusting and completely wrong on his part.

Chinlo · 24/11/2016 16:44

Totally inappropriate. Well done on informing the head teacher.

MrsJayy · 24/11/2016 16:44

Urgh yes complain , i once tore strips off an arse of a physics teacher on a parents night he said he wasnt used to teen girls and their moods i was so angry
