To be disappointed with M&S Advent Calendar!

£35.00 with £35.00 & over purchase of women's wear.

Each item averages at £1.40.

M&S claim the contents are valued at £250.00 which makes each item worth £10.00.

Sorry M&S, I don't believe you! Nail polishes (rubbish colours), nail file, v v v small serum etc.

I looked on the website and customers are giving it 5*

Anyone else succumbed ?

The Liberty one looked great (much more pricey, but genuine valued items). Sold out though.

I bought one. Stupidly I thought they'd sell out quickly so got it on the day it came out only to find they're still selling them several days/weeks later!

I brought one but I haven't looked closely at it yet. Is it really poor value?

I would take it back op if you are unhappy but it doesn't sound too bad in terms of it being £35 - though it certainly doesn't sound £250 worth

I wouldn't have bought it (I don't need another 25 sample sizes of various random bits cluttering up my house thank you very much) but I did sincerely wonder how it could be worth £250.00.

I'd be interested to see the details on that.

The one item I do love is the Nuxe dry oil. Smells divine and glides on lovely. Only small bottle though.

Last year's was great. Definitely worth £35. Not £250 though.

I was tempted to get one... glad I didn't bother now! My dd aged 13 is desperate for the Tanya burr 12 days of Christmas one. It's £15 (on offer) and has some nice things inside.

I cannot believe you are all looking! Mine is in the living room waiting for December 1st.

Often with these types of calendars the detail is int he small print.

So it'll be worth £250 when purchasing full size versions of it all individually.

I've got two. I'll keep what I want and divide the rest up for presents .
I did prefer last year's one.
but..there was a glitch on the website and that's how I bought my second one.. I only spent about £23 in order to qualify for the calendar.
Worth £35, yes, Wouldn't pay more than that.

I went in today to buy one and in Cwmbran they had the contents in a see through box for us to see what we were getting . I took one look at it and realised it was not half as good as lastyears . The perfume house however looks lovely I got the last two of them .....

I got last year's and thought it was a heap of shit. Definitely wouldn't bother again.

Amazing what people will fall for given a fucking inescapable marketing campaign and some pretty packaging.

To me it screams tat.

I hate, hate, hate, hate the trend for adult advent calendars. I can see how much fun they could be but it really goes against the grain for me to see grown women buying themselves an advent calendar.

It just seems like a combination of rampant consumerism and infantilising grown women. And kind of the opposite of what Christmas should be about as an adult, which to me is more about giving, family and community.

But then, I am not even a fan of chocolate advent calendars for kids. My mum made my kids a fabric advent calendar and I bought a playmobil nativity set. I wrapped up the bits each year and they built the nativity scene over the month. Don't think they missed out really.

Does that make me Scrooge?
