Ok so I told my DD they were hibernating, now I've put cage away she thinks they escaped and went on a rampage or "blew away in the wind" and someone else is looking after them for her.
Do I finally fess up and tell her our beloved stick insects died?
She is off sick at minute and has even made a poster...

It's a difficult thing to do but you do need to tell her the truth.
We lost our cat 2 years ago and I found it harder telling the kids and consoling them than finding out myself :(

HOWEVER I'm appalled by some of the comments on here. Judgy Judgy comments about how sad people are.

Parenting is a bloody hard job and we all get things wrong sometimes. The main thing is how you put it right.

Good luck telling her and I hope she doesn't take it too hard.

God Exit that's put me off getting stick insects 😂 OP I hope your daughter has forgiven you I agree with telling the truth when pets die but I really don't think I'd have been as brave as you and owned up!! Good luck with butterflies!
