It's when that wretched song comes on... "Walking in the Air."
I can't stand it. It gives me Christmas aisle rage.

I feel the same about Fairytale of New York. I hate the fact it is perfectly fine for the lyrics in that song to include those such as "slut" and "faggot" when there is no way other songs would be played with similar lyrics without being censored.

Greengoddess12 · 10/11/2016 19:38

Agree op.

No fairytale of New York is a classic and a tribute to the late Kirsty.

hazeyjane · 10/11/2016 19:39

But how can you hate a song that has the lyrics.....

*Suddenly swooping low on an ocean deep
Arousing of a mighty porn star from its sleep•

QueenoftheAndals · 10/11/2016 19:39

It's Simply Having A Wonderful Christmastime that gives me the rage.

Sparlklesilverglitter · 10/11/2016 19:41

Last Christmas gets that reaction from me

However Fairytale of New York is one of the very best Christmas songs

Bogeyface · 10/11/2016 19:42

A Fairytale of New York wants me to ram an advent calendar up the arse of anyone singing it, especially those who think that they are being edgy and cool because it has the word arse in it.

Its a shit song, it was always a shit song and the fact that Kirsty MacColl died does not make it any less of a shit song!

ShatnersBassoon · 10/11/2016 19:43

Oh, now, hang on a minute. These are all fine songs.

Jona Lewie's Stop the Cavalry played at Christmas, as it only is, is just horrible.

Bogeyface · 10/11/2016 19:46

"....makes me want to ram....." even!

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 10/11/2016 19:48

Oh yeah, definitely Stop the Cavalry!!! Hate it!! I really hate that Chrimbo song by that Keith Lemon idiot....the other character he did that was also unfunny and gross. I LOVE Driving Home for Christmas even though Lizzie Cundy at the end of the video sets feminism back twenty years!!! Well, not really but she still looks like a simpering fool!

Musicinthe00ssucks · 10/11/2016 19:50

My husband gets the rage at Chris Rea's Driving Home For Christmas

BeattieBowRisenFromTheDead · 10/11/2016 19:50

My most hated one is Chiff Richard:

Christmastime, mistletoe and wine
Children siiiinging Chris-ti-an rhyme

Grrrr!

PelvicFloorClenchReminder · 10/11/2016 19:52

They are all WONDERFUL unless they have anything to do with either Cliff 'The Creepy Cockroach' Richard or Mariah 'The Warbling Womble' Carey. But nothing beats Boney M.

Leanback · 10/11/2016 19:52

Definitely agree with thegrandhighwitch it'd be a good song but we don't sing songs from the old days with racial slurs in them so it's time we stopped with the openly homophobic and sexist ones too.

BeattieBowRisenFromTheDead · 10/11/2016 19:53

Oh yes Driving Home for Christmas is another extremely irritating song.

hollyisalovelyname · 10/11/2016 19:53

I love Fairytale of New York and I Believe in Father Christmas ( Emerson Lake and Palmer)
I hate Walking in the Air
and
Last Christmas.

NoSunNoMoon · 10/11/2016 19:56

Agree. Mistletoe and whine is the worst by far.

Stopmithering · 10/11/2016 19:56

You're all bonkers, I LOVE these Christmas songs (apart from Cliff, him and his arm-swinging schmaltzy mistletoey shitty 'song' deserve nothing more than my contempt, ugh)

PelvicFloorClenchReminder · 10/11/2016 19:57

Ooh yes, I forgot to add Chris 'The Banana of Boredom' Rea to the festive blacklist.

Janey50 · 10/11/2016 19:58

The Christmas songs that I hate with a vengeance are 'Fairytale of New York' and 'Wonderful Christmas Time' by Paul McCartney. Sorry no disrespect to the late Kirsty McColl but it's Shane McGowan's voice (think that's his name?) that does my ears in.

ShelaghTurner · 10/11/2016 19:58

Cliff Richard and his horrid songs can naff off. They ruin Christmas! There's one wierdy song that's always on the Christmas albums and I never know the name. Some hippy shite. And FONY is classic!

ExcuseMyEyebrows · 10/11/2016 19:58

But if we didn't have Walking in the Air we wouldn't have this Grin

TroysMammy · 10/11/2016 19:58

Except Fairytale of New York and All I want for Christmas the rest can sod off. Yes, including you Shakin' Stevens. My biggest hates are Slade and Wizard. I walk out of shops if those 2 are playing.

And whilst I am at it let's round up the drunken twats who think it's funny to slur "smile, it's Christmas" and dump them on an island, far far away. Fuck off.

WickedBadZoot · 10/11/2016 20:00

More than 16 replies and nobody has said "ffs OP it's NOVEMBER" - must be nearly Christmas! Grin

PNGirl · 10/11/2016 20:00

Christmas Wrapping is the best one.

I can't stand "It's Chriiiiitsmaaaaaaaaas!" or Fairytale.

DonaldStott · 10/11/2016 20:00

You're all mad! Shakin Stevens is by far the best christmas song. Snow is fallin, all around me. Children plaaaaayin, havin fun. See. I'm smiling. Grin
