It's when that wretched song comes on... "Walking in the Air."
I can't stand it. It gives me Christmas aisle rage.

Baby It's Cold Outside is a bit creepy though - 'say, what's in this drink?' - as in, she may have been spiked by the bloke to get her to stay with him instead of going home.

hazeyjane · 12/11/2016 21:15

Yes! Slut and faggot mean 'lazy' - my nan used both, and would never have used faggot to mean gay (I'm not entirely sure she would have known what gay meant!)

PelvicFloorClenchReminder · 12/11/2016 21:21

Baby It's Cold Outside is utterly hideous. Definitely creepy and rapey. Can just see him standing in front of the door hiding her hat and coat and leering at her when she says she really must go, but due to the era and the way she was raised she can't fight back and tell him to go fuck himself. She is a lady and the purpose of a lady is to please men and acquiesce to their demands. Actually, he's starting to look like Donald Trump.

I absolutely hate The Fairytale of New York. Can't stand listening to it

susimoo · 13/11/2016 10:00

I love each and every one!

Why? Despite the cringe factor and the fact I've overheard them they make me young again. I'm magically transported back to the70's and early 80's when my Christma's were magical. Back to a time when (my) life was simpler and free from worry beyond whether I would get RubaDub Dolly or Mr Frosty. 😂

For the record I got neither but did get other toys that proved to be much better in the long run. 😜

Oh to be young with all my family around me. I miss those days. These songs bring the people and the memories alive once more.

So if you see me in Boots on Christmas Eve, I'm the one wiping a happy tear from my cheek as I remember Christmas past.

BewtySkoolDropowt · 13/11/2016 11:01

Best Christmas song ever

BewtySkoolDropowt · 13/11/2016 11:03

Hmm, maybe I should have added a 'NSFW' warning. Certainly not safe for kids!

BreconBeBuggered · 13/11/2016 11:37

Love it, Bewty Grin

BewtySkoolDropowt · 13/11/2016 13:30

Glad you like it Brecon - although I dialect some of the Fairy Tale haters might take a different view ;)

BewtySkoolDropowt · 13/11/2016 13:30

Dialect? sorry, that should say suspect!

user1471472579 · 13/11/2016 14:19

Susimoo, you have just made me cry reading your post. You are so right - these songs take me back to Christmas past with all the family who are no longer with us. My mum used to love the Phil Spector Xmas album, so I play it every year too.

LadyBaelish · 13/11/2016 14:26

Little Saint Nick gives me the rage. No idea why but it always has. Run run fucking reindeer Angry I've been known to walk out of shops if it comes on!

Elphame · 13/11/2016 14:32

All christmas songs have me walking straight back out of any shop that might be playing them.

With one exception - yes Fairy Tale of New York which I listen to all year round

BewtySkoolDropowt · 13/11/2016 15:45

Elphame, you need to listen to the one I linked to above, chances are you haven't heard that one in a shop.. ;)

Anniegetyourgun · 13/11/2016 16:51

DS2 used to play a rather jolly-sounding jingle if you didn't listen to the words:

It's Christmas at Ground Zero,
The button has been pressed,
The radio
Just let us know
That this is not a test...

I forbade him to play it after a while. He also had a cheerful ditty about The Night Santa Went Crazy. DS2 has a rather, er, dark sense of humour.

SooBee61 · 13/11/2016 17:08

Can't stand (a) P.McCartney "Simply Having a Wonderful Christmas Time" and "Mistletoe and Wine". Grrrr....

heartskey · 13/11/2016 17:14
This is the best if all.... Darleen Love.....Christmas (Baby please come home) The worst is Paul McCartney..... Simply having a wonderful Christmas time. I also LOVE Fairy Tale of New York
RuggerHug · 13/11/2016 17:18

What's the name of that one that sounds Christmas-y but is actually about the cuban missile crisis? I had no strong feelings about it until my sister pointed it out to me and now it sends me into mulled wine fueled cold war rants when it comes on when I'm out...

heartskey · 13/11/2016 17:20
How can anyone not like this, "It was Christmas Eve babe in the drunk tank" ........Smile
