It's when that wretched song comes on... "Walking in the Air."
I can't stand it. It gives me Christmas aisle rage.

I agree that Mistletoe and Wine is the worst Christmas song of all time. If I was trapped in a lift for 10 hours but could somehow choose between Walking in the Air and Mistletoe, I'd choose Walking in the Air. Or maybe I'd just fashion a noose out of my shoelaces and end the misery.

Favourite is the Nat King Cole Merry Christmas - the "Chestnuts roasting on an open fire" one.

Sparklingbrook · 10/11/2016 20:02

I hate them all. I used to work in a place that had Now Christmas or some such and played it on repeat for weeks. Sad

Stop the Cavalry I especially dislike and Fairytale of New York.

I quite like 'Proper Chrimbo' Grin

ALLthedinosaurs · 10/11/2016 20:03

Everything Bogeyface said about "Fairytale of New York" and more.

Not only is it a shitty song anyway, but my abusive ex used to insist that it was OUR SONG because we met at Christmas. So perhaps I'm biased, but it reminds me of him and stirs up some hateful ragey feelings. And it's a horrible song anyway.

My blood pressure rises significantly just thinking about it.

ThoraGruntwhistle · 10/11/2016 20:03

I hate Christmas songs. I quite like shouting 'I hope your bloody car breaks down' at the Chris Rea one.

Grilledaubergines · 10/11/2016 20:04

Fairytale of New York is a fantastic song. There are in my opinion some shit Christmas songs. Fairytale isn't one of them. Yes there are some inappropriate words. Lots of things to be offended about if you want them to be.

ALLthedinosaurs · 10/11/2016 20:08

Oh oh and I suppose not a pop song really but I really hate "Carol of the Bells". What even is that? It hurts my ears.

All other Christmas songs though I could listen to all year while rolling around in fairy lights and tinsel Grin

Muddlingthroughtoo · 10/11/2016 20:10

I think I must LOVE every single Christmas song! I've been reading the replies like...whaaa? Shock I bloody love them!

ivykaty44 · 10/11/2016 20:12

haveacupoftea · 10/11/2016 20:13

Hah I love them all too muddling

I LOVE Leona Lewis One More Sleep too.

RatOnnaStick · 10/11/2016 20:15

They're all shit.

Once in Royal David's City, first verse sung by a lone chorister and then the rest of the choir, and Oh Come All Ye Faithful sung by everyone.

That's it. The rest can all fuck off.

piglover · 10/11/2016 20:16

"Imagine" is the worst of the lot, IMO.

FretYeNotAllIsShiny · 10/11/2016 20:18

......to want to rip out the speakers every time I hear any Christmas song?

There, fixed it for you. No, you ANBU.

BathshebaDarkstone · 10/11/2016 20:18

Eyebrows that's brilliant! Grin

alphabook · 10/11/2016 20:19

Do They Know It's Christmas is my least favourite.

Yes they fucking do.

RiverTam · 10/11/2016 20:20

Am I the only person who would be getting enraged by hearing a Christmas song in fucking November??? Any Christmas song?????

ShelaghTurner · 10/11/2016 20:20

Okaaay so on googling I find that the hippy shite I referred to earlier is a 16th century carol... Blush

SoMuchRoomForActivities · 10/11/2016 20:23

I love when the Christmas songs start; makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. GrinGrinGrin

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeG0es · 10/11/2016 20:24

I like all of them except Fairy Tale of New York, which I detest. Even Mistletoe and Wine is preferable to it.

GingerIvy · 10/11/2016 20:24

I love them all except Fairytale of New York. Really don't like that one.

Ds2 has been singing Jingle bells all day. Xmas Grin

Sniv · 10/11/2016 20:25

I dislike Fairytale of New York - not because of the swearing, slurs, or that it's bittersweet or whatever. It's just not very good.

I LOVE Carol of the Bells, can't believe someone's said that. That's pure christmas to me. Slightly spooky winter magic, sung by eerily voiced angels on a crisp winter night.

oldlaundbooth · 10/11/2016 20:26

Yer all a bunch o' miseries Grin

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 10/11/2016 20:27

If you consider Fairytale to be inappropriate, then don't follow link.
My ds works in a big supermarket, he is already suffering with Christmas song rage.

Slarti · 10/11/2016 20:28

You're all wrong. There is no such thing as a bad Christmas song.

But you, OP, are wrongest of all. Walking in the Air is one of the best, and probably the best - as an almost 40 year old male - to sing along to. Blush

Bogeyface · 10/11/2016 20:28

I love Shaky!

ScarletForYa · 10/11/2016 20:31

Hate them all!Hmm
