I'm so angry.

Had an evening out to watch a free council run firework display at a local heritage park.

We arrived early but the place was already heaving, so we bought some burgers/hot dogs to kill some time and as we were all hungry.

Standing with dh and the 3 dc and all of a sudden something made us all jump, and I felt something hit my hand hard.

Youngest ds6's face is covered in egg yolk. Whoever lobbed it had run as they'd thrown it. Luckily it didn't break in his face as it hit my hand first, but he took the fall out.

Why would someone do this? Luckily ds is placid and didn't care once he'd been cleaned up (as best we could) but my middle ds was in tears, my eldest fuming wanting to hunt them down. Egg covered coats/clothes and my hand (despite me wearing gloves) is swollen and bruised as got me on the knuckle.

Complete scum bag, I hope they get their comeuppance.

Yes, throwing eggs at anybody really isn't anything to be proud of.

Stanky · 06/11/2016 07:25

I would love to hear some stories about these nasty gits actually getting caught and taught a lesson.

The only thing that I can think of is when I was at school, on the bus, there was a boy sitting at the back shouting insults out of the window at strangers. He shouted GAY at a college student. The bus stopped in traffic, and the student knocked on the bus and the driver let him on. He suddenly looked huge compared to the school kids, and calmly said to the boy at the back "If you've got something to say to me, come and say it to my face." The school boy looked so scared, and his voice was shaking as he said "Sorry". The student said "Well think next time, Little Boy!". He laughed and got off. The school boy shut up for the rest of the journey home.

These kids are such cowards, and I just love it when they do get caught. Might just make them think next time.

IamWendy · 06/11/2016 07:34

I was shot in the back of the head by a bb gun once while walking past the rough houses to work.

throughgrittedteeth · 06/11/2016 07:47

An ex of mine liked to tell stories of twatty things him and his mates did thinking they were hilarious.
One that stands out since it was fucking disgusting, was when they poured a can of lager over a homeless bloke. As if he wasn't already having a shit time of it.
Makes me sick thinking about it. We weren't together when that happened but his attitude to it even a couple of years after it had happened and after the excuse of being a teenager had worn off was enough for me to dump him. I reckon if I brought it up with him and his mates now he'd still laugh (he's 30 now) if you can do that to someone at any age you're clearly lacking in empathy and that can't be taught IMO.

TallulahTheTiger · 06/11/2016 07:55

Some teenagers just don't consider the consequences of their actions oh ffs of course they do. This is YouTube internet generation. They'll have looked it up and laughed at previous people's attempts so absolutely know what happens. Agree with pinkie and cake wee shitebag scum.

Sugarlightly · 06/11/2016 08:04

Someone put chewing gum in my hair at a busy Halloween fair last week, I don't understand it.

TeacherBob · 06/11/2016 08:15

I don't disagree with you at all, it was a horrid thing to happen. But I did just have to point out a quote from the OPoster

It never occurred to me that an egg could hurt so much. Until to tonight.

If you, a grown adult, didn't know it hurt so much, then why would a group of kids know?

Sounds like kids 'having a laugh'.

I am not condoning that at all, please don't think I am, but to suggest they are scum is a bit strong when even you didnt realise what the consequences of their actions could be.

FWIW in my younger days I have been known to throw stuff (once I lobbed a large stone and it shattered a car window that was driving past, though in my defence I was aiming at my mate and not at the car, and I did shit myself over it).
Am I proud? Nope, not at all.
But I have never been in trouble with the police, and have grown up to be a valuable member of society.

And Bowie, you sir are a dick and way worse than the kids. They were having a laugh and should grow up. You already grew up and still chose to act like it.

sandgrown · 06/11/2016 08:15

I was "egged" while walking the dog. Nice bruise on my chest where the egg hit me. I think I knew which house the teenagers lived at so I was going to break a dozen eggs all over their car . DP persuaded me not to as he thought they would come looking for me!

Cheby · 06/11/2016 08:23

They are little shits and they know exactly why they shouldn't be doing it. When I was a teenager I was aware of why RS not a good idea to throw objects at people. It's not fucking difficult. They are inconsiderate arseholes.

And TeacherBob you could have killed that driver or occupants of that car. How the fuck is the factyou we're aiming at your 'friend' a defence?!

SquatBetty · 06/11/2016 08:24

We've had our front room window egged recently and years ago at night a car drove passed, cut its lights and an egg was chucked from it at me and a group of friends - egg hit me squarely on the back of the head

Just pity the sad pathetic cunts that get their kicks from doing stuff like this, OP. They really aren't worth wasting your thoughts on. Flowers

TeacherBob · 06/11/2016 08:29

They know they shouldnt be doing it. They know it is wrong. But they arent thinking through the consequences of their actions. That may make them twats. And it may make them immature. But I doubt it makes them scum.

And TeacherBob you could have killed that driver or occupants of that car. How the fuck is the factyou we're aiming at your 'friend' a defence?!

Indeed. Or the car could have skidded off and killed someone passing by. Or killed my friend.

The point being, that I am not scum, I was just having a laugh without thinking of the consequences.
Unless you want to call me scum for the rest of my life for something that happened when I was 14?

TheCatsMother99 · 06/11/2016 08:34

How horrible. I know it's 'just' an egg but it's the shock of it and it actually caused you harm! Idiots!!!

Hope your hand gets better quickly.

enolagayits0815 · 06/11/2016 08:39

When I saw the thread title I thought it was a bit judgemental. Then I read it, they are worse than scum. I hope that you are ok and that the nasty little sods fell in a big pool of mud and dog muck.

Mumoftwoyoungkids · 06/11/2016 08:40

But I have never been in trouble with the police, and have grown up to be a valuable member of society.

Why did the police not get involved when you caused criminal damage to a stranger's property whilst aiming to "just" injure your friend?

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 06/11/2016 08:40

Jesus Christ BowieFan that's disgusting, no wonder the youth think egg throwing is acceptable when people say casually "I only throw eggs at politicians" Shock. Let's hope you didn't miss the unfortunate person you were aiming at and hit an even more unfortunate bystander.

Sympathies OP that must have been incredibly upsetting.

beautifulbizarre · 06/11/2016 08:42

Bowie probably thinks she is oh-so-cool and such a badass.

There is nothing worse than overgrown rebellious teenagers.

TheLegendOfBeans · 06/11/2016 08:44

There's something about this time of year that brings the wankers out in their droves, day and night.

throughgrittedteeth · 06/11/2016 08:48

Marylou2 · 06/11/2016 08:54

BowieFan that's just awful. Not acceptable to throw eggs at anyone. I always think of John Prescott's response to a thrown egg. I don't condone violence but who could blame him.

ZebraOwl · 06/11/2016 09:22

My mother died, totally unexpectedly, the May when I was 10. That summer, having always spent the holidays with her or with my granny (bar a few weeks when she was doing some retraining before going back to teaching & a babysitter looked after us) I found myself spending part of the holidays at Day Camps.

The whole experience was hellish & frankly would have been were I not grief-stricken, but one particular low-point was the "game" where we were herded into a circle surrounded by staff with hockey sticks, our group leaders dotted about inside with rounders bats - and pelted with eggs by other staff. Most staff at day camps are young. But all adults. And the staff member who announced that if an egg got through unbroken staff were to break it on the head of the nearest child was in her thirties (I heard it being discussed by her colleagues) & my group leader had just graduated from university. He also, obviously, knew my personal circumstances, so you'd think perhaps, in that scrum of shrieking children, he might have chosen, especially seeing the look of pure fear & horror on my face as I realised what he was about to do, to "drop" the egg instead. And then mysteriously find himself standing on it.

I remember the searing pain & everything going black from the outside in. And then being held up against him because he couldn't make himself heard to get the "game" stopped, nor get through the crush to get me out.

He got the most almighty bollocking because obviously it was only a joke - have you SEEN the lump on her head?! & I was terrified into saying that I'd just bumped my head on someone else's during the game - and not telling anyone I'd been knocked out. My then-undiagnosed disability features a bleeding disorder so the resultant haematoma was pretty horrific & I had a headache for about a week. The OP is absolutely right to be scared about what an egg cracking her child on the face/head could have done.

As for the egg-thrower being scum... I think perhaps more stupid & irresponsible than scummy? I have no idea how anyone could think it funny to assault a stranger, but they probably don't see it as assault. I don't imagine it would cross their minds for a second they could kill someone if they egged someone with a severe enough allergy. But that doesn't, of course, make it ok - just a bit less depressing, perhaps, in the sense that this way they should at least grow out of it?

Flowers for the OP & everyone else who's found themselves the victim of this sort of utter idiocy Sad

ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 06/11/2016 09:41

bowie. Why those two?! I'm a lifelong Labour supporter, but Gove and Major were hardly the worst of the Tory bunch! IDS and Osbourne, however, deserved a hand grenade....

(Caveat: I've never thrown anything at anyone, don't condone violence and would be absolutely furious if that was DS)

beautifulbizarre · 06/11/2016 09:42

Bowie'll be a badass teacher.

tigerdriverII · 06/11/2016 09:43

Only on Mumsnet could teens arsing about, albeit irritatingly be described as "worse than scum". FFS. There are quite a few things worse than having an egg chucked at you.

ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 06/11/2016 09:46

zebra. I'm so sorry, didn't mean to be trite - I missed your post. That's absolutely awful. What a shocking way for 'adults' to behave, especially around a vunerable child. You poor bugger.

TallulahTheTiger · 06/11/2016 09:47

teacherbob at 14 you are well beyond age of criminal responsibility, to actually hit and break a window of a passing car it must have been a seizable rock, thrown with some force and clearly by a road. No fucking excuse that you were 'young' as had that hit your friend I expect it would have fucking hurt.
