I'm so angry.

Had an evening out to watch a free council run firework display at a local heritage park.

We arrived early but the place was already heaving, so we bought some burgers/hot dogs to kill some time and as we were all hungry.

Standing with dh and the 3 dc and all of a sudden something made us all jump, and I felt something hit my hand hard.

Youngest ds6's face is covered in egg yolk. Whoever lobbed it had run as they'd thrown it. Luckily it didn't break in his face as it hit my hand first, but he took the fall out.

Why would someone do this? Luckily ds is placid and didn't care once he'd been cleaned up (as best we could) but my middle ds was in tears, my eldest fuming wanting to hunt them down. Egg covered coats/clothes and my hand (despite me wearing gloves) is swollen and bruised as got me on the knuckle.

Complete scum bag, I hope they get their comeuppance.

Some teenagers just don't consider the consequences of their actions

Well they should be forced to damn well consider them. !!!!!Angry

dontcrynow · 05/11/2016 22:45

Not nearly as bad but a few years ago some kids thew an egg and some flour at our front door on a trick and treat night. we didnt find out until the next morning and had to clean up the mess before we went to work/school

switswoo81 · 05/11/2016 22:49

Cowardly scumbags. I hope your child is OK.

My mum had a snowball thrown at her by scumbags. They had put stones in them and she ended up with a scratched cornea which is a very painful injury.
Cannot understand the mentality of these people.

slenderisthenight · 05/11/2016 22:51

You poor thing Flowers

Some kids seem incapable of actually thinking how their actions will make others feel.

2kids2dogsnosense · 05/11/2016 22:52

Sweetkitty

This was just what I thought of when I read the opening post - that this is the kind of bottom-feeder that chucks paving slabs off motorway bridges.

They really are pathetic pieces of sh*t aren't they?

cocoabuttersosoft · 05/11/2016 22:54

Unfortunately there are lots of these types where I live. They've been playing with fireworks over the last week which is terrifying.

ILostIt Not thinking through consequences would be something like practising juggling with eggs, and accidentally hitting someone. Not deliberately throwing one at someone.

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 05/11/2016 22:57

Our house has been egged more than once (oh the joy of working in a school). Last time it was a freezing cold night and the scum had somehow put tippex in the eggs. That was a delight to clean off in the snow next morning. They've also lobbed water balloons through open bedroom windows. But luckily no one was hurt. What knobs they are.

Pinkkahori · 05/11/2016 23:00

Horrible and could have serious consequences for some people. My dd is allergic to eggs. A tiny drop if raw egg caused her to swell up so I can't even imagine what being hit by a full raw egg would do.

mumofthemonsters808 · 05/11/2016 23:00

Awful, your poor son, my boy would be traumatised by this. I can even get my head around stupid teenagers throwing them at their mates, but not just to launch them at strangers, this takes it to a whole new level. The shock of it alone is enough and thankfully it smashed or else it could of really hurt him. It just shows how someone's mindless behaviour can ruin another family's night, I'm sorry this happened, you should be proud of your son taking it all in his stride, my boy would have been hysterical, but who could blame him, I would be if someone did this to me.

YouHadMeAtCake · 05/11/2016 23:02

pinkiepies is right justhere why is it that there's always someone like you justhere that wants to minimize the upset caused and defend some fucking scummy little bastard? Pathetic. Sorry you experienced this OP. They are indeed fucking low lives. Hope they get their comeuppance.

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 05/11/2016 23:04

Well yes, I don't suppose any of them were practicing their egg juggling, you have a point. I'm thinking more that they thought it was funny to splat a few eggs at people, not considering that those victims are real families that would feel upset and attacked or even hurt.

I'm not trying to excuse it, it's idiotic behaviour.

crystalballbroke · 05/11/2016 23:07

Thanks for the kind wishes.

Youngest ds doesn't care at all. Loved the fireworks and once home had a lovely bubble bath.

It's my middle ds who is most upset, but then he is very sensitive.

My hand is bloody killing me now, I'm so pleased it caught me and not ds's face. I dread to think if it had.

OP posts:
NoBetterName · 05/11/2016 23:08

My ds1 is allergic to eggs (including skin contact). DS2 carries an epipen for his dairy allergy. This type of twattery could have life-threatening complications for them.

AntheaBelveden · 05/11/2016 23:12

justhere the eggs that hit me were thrown from a car which would suggest that the culprits were at least late teens.

If you're grown up enough to drive, you're grown up enough to not be a cunt.

Yes, a scratched cornea is a very painful injury and I had weeks of worrying that it wouldn't heal and my sight would be permanently damaged.

When I was in a&e the nurse treating me said that she'd seen some horrendous injuries caused by eggs, including permanent sight damage.

Horsepower9 · 05/11/2016 23:13

That's just horrible! Sending you all a hug.
They will get caught eventually and let's just hope they get a good kicking from someone.

Masketti · 05/11/2016 23:19

I've had a firework thrown at me when I was a teenager. Minding my own business with a group of friends in a heritage garden and I jump at something hitting my hand. It hurt but mostly we were shocked by the bang. Fortunately no one was seriously hurt but who does that??

What utter scumbags to throw anything at a child who isn't playing at throwing things as a game.

BowieFan · 05/11/2016 23:20

I've only ever thrown eggs at politicians (Michael Gove and John Major, in case you were wondering) but to throw it at someone just out to enjoy their night is disgusting, IMO.

Masketti · 05/11/2016 23:21

Oh yes this wasn't actually at a display. This was the middle of the day on a weekend around 5th November time.

AntheaBelveden · 05/11/2016 23:28

When I was little, an elderly lady in my town had a lit firework put in her shopping bag. She was seriously injured and it was all over the local media.

It frightened me so much, thirty years on and I hate being outside when fireworks are going off.

What sort of a cunt does that, let alone to an old lady?

clumsyduck · 05/11/2016 23:32

Aww op that's horrible some people really just do not think

Happened to my nan just walking down the road had been to the shops some dick head threw an egg from a car window at her hit her on the leg really upset her and she had a massive bruise Sad

f83mx · 05/11/2016 23:34

I've just been at the local bonfire at park, non-official fireworks going off, group of teens fired a small rocket at crowd of people including toddlers. No injuries LUCKILY. Little feckers ran off before had chance to shout/scream at them. F'in idiots.

LikeDylanInTheMovies · 06/11/2016 01:43

Stupid, thoughtless and deeply unpleasant... yes.

Upsetting as it must have been for your son it was just likely to be teenagers acting the giddy goat rather than a vindictive attack on your son.

I'd reserve the term 'utter scum' for people who deliberately set out to wound and torture children, not teenagers with a lack of empathy and misguided sense of what constitutes a prank. But understand why you'd be raging.

CozyAutumn · 06/11/2016 06:21

Unfortunately some people are just saddos who have nothing better to do. They probably thought it was absolutely hilarious but actually they look like dicks.

We have a field overlooking us, and some little shits kids were hiding in bushes and throwing tomatoes and eggs at people's windows the other week. Annoying!

Mummyoflittledragon · 06/11/2016 06:51

BowieFan

That is equally disgusting and nothing to boast about.

KERALA1 · 06/11/2016 07:07

Am shocked at throwing eggs at politicians or anyone. In fact bowiefan that's almost worse as egg throwers generally brainless moronic young boys in groups who hopefully grow out of it whilst you are intelligent adult choosing to do it.

I was egged walking down the street from s bus when I was a student. Not very nice but in grand scheme of things preferable to sexual street harrassment which I got a lot of then.
