To wonder if you need a penis to operate this boat?

Otherwise, why else could it possibly be "ideal for boys"? Or is it probable that girls wouldn't want to play with boats, or things relating to the police?

Such an unnecessary addition to the description

YANBU.

noblegiraffe · 28/10/2016 12:23

You're right, it is unnecessary. We can already tell that it's ideal for boys by the blue box and absence of female figures.

Katy07 · 28/10/2016 12:32

It involves building things (putting the hats on, clipping the loudhailer into the hand etc.) so way too complicated for girls. Much better to make it clear from the start than to have the little girls getting distressed Hmm

ShowOfHands · 28/10/2016 12:35

Is that a boat?

I only recognise kittens and apple pie.

That1950sMum · 28/10/2016 12:35

My DD would love that!

My DS not so much because he's rubbish at putting Lego together.

Idiotic description.

MarchEliza2 · 28/10/2016 12:36

Well it's not pink...

lornathewizzard · 28/10/2016 12:39

Jeez that's poor. Shame on you Argos

bigfriendlygiant · 28/10/2016 12:49

Apparently females are short and males are tall...

BeMorePanda · 28/10/2016 13:11

its so fucking tedious and tiresome isn't it.

Get tweeting Argos about it & maybe they will change their website?

bluechameleon · 28/10/2016 13:17

YABU. Of course you do.

  1. It is a vehicle
  2. It is related to the emergency services
  3. It contains technology
  4. It simulates adventurous activities
  5. It is a construction toy
You clearly haven't read your gender roles manual properly OP.
DuchessofStBridget · 28/10/2016 13:21

YANBU and I think you use the Argos Q&A section to ask the same question. Grin

MLGs · 28/10/2016 13:22

Perhaps it has penis recognition technology. That's the latest thing.

NovemberInDailyFailLand · 28/10/2016 13:23

WIMMIN KNOW YOUR LIMITS!

Soubriquet · 28/10/2016 13:29

Ah see its blue

Dd wouldn't know what to do with it. She's never seen the colour blue before

Only pink and sparkly is good enough for my princess

Light purple is acceptable at a push too

Artandco · 28/10/2016 13:30

I have an actual boat license. Apparently that's very strange.

c3pu · 28/10/2016 13:32

I've operated boats before, and at no point was i required to use my penis on it any point.

Apparently the harbour police frown upon it.

ChiefClerkDrumknott · 28/10/2016 13:45

I am Grin at these answers and Angry that it needs pointing out

Yesterday I bought some Marvel character socks for me someone who is female and on the back the packet said Boys socks. It gave me unreasonable rage and I haven't worn them as clearly my feet will combust upon contact with socks not meant for me

Pseudonym99 · 28/10/2016 14:15

I am amazed that in this day and age people still think like that. You wouldn't put 'ideal for white people' on something, would you? I bet that description was written by a woman, though.

NovemberInDailyFailLand · 28/10/2016 14:17

Chief - if you wear them, you will grow a penis instead of feet. Fact.

OlennasWimple · 28/10/2016 14:21

Of course girls with their fuzzy lady brain can't operate a boat!!

NotSayingImBatman · 28/10/2016 14:22

I saw an advert for some little playhouse complete with a cooker and washing machine yesterday.

"It's just like mummy's but all for me" trilled the little girls playing with it.

Oh, does your daddy not eat food? Or wear clean clothes? Or is the process of producing that food or cleaning those clothes beyond the owner of a pair of testicles?

Queenbean · 28/10/2016 14:23

I had a live chat to their online team and asked if it needed a penis to be operated. Her reponse "I will pass your feedback on to the web team".

I've suggested they raise it as a general issue across the store and remove unnecessary gender descriptions.

Surprised at how bloody pissed off this has made me!

It's okay, everyone! Girls can always go shopping...

Stormwhale · 28/10/2016 14:32

Yanbu. At all. This gender crap needs to stop. If my dd wants to play with a boat she can fucking play with a boat. Her genitals have nothing to do with it.

Soubriquet · 28/10/2016 14:34

At £104 Sunny...dd can watch the boys play with their boat
