Haha, but lets face it it is a bit of a pointless thread, a bit like the drying clothes outside one.

StrictlyPan · 26/10/2016 09:36

Hands out to foil hats. Fnar fnar

New rule, everyone! It is ok to extol your own virtues on threads you consider to be pointless.

That will liven the site up nicely Grin

My Mum hated lukewarm food so would heat plates. My daughter won't eat hot food so we don't bother!

TwinkleTwinkleLittleBat · 26/10/2016 10:00

My mother is also obsessed with warm plates. Except they're not warm, they're scalding hot and involve much juggling to handle, burned hands and 'mind the plate' warnings. It's all such a faff.

I make a bit of an effort for Christmas dinner but that's about it. Having grown up with hot plates and not doing it now, I can't see it makes that much difference to ordinary everyday meals (i.e. Chips cooked at warp factor 220 BlushGrin)

Of course the food will go cold quicker on a stone cold plate and yes this could spoil a meal for some people. Some food goes colder quicker than other foods as well. I just leave plates in clean hot water in the sink, then dry them just before putting the food out. Plates are not too hot then either so no table protectors or oven gloves required to carry them.

Each to their own but IMO the cook/chef should have consideration if the food is supposed to be served hot/warm.

Ha ha Missmargie Your post made me laugh, amazed at how pissed off the responses you got were! I totally agree with you, I am a shit hot cook too Wink

Roussette · 26/10/2016 12:25

I have some thick earthenware plates that are just 'cold' plates. Despite being such irritating plates, I like them so I heat them to eat off of!

DH away, frozen pizza tonight, will still heat my plate so pizza doesn't get cold!

KickAssAngel · 26/10/2016 16:42

Can I lay claim to being a shit, hot, cook?

Chopstick17 · 26/10/2016 17:04

StrictlyPan · 26/10/2016 17:09

I am a fucking marvellous cook when you consider that I grew up in a very privileged/artificial environment and didn't know how pasta was prepared until I was about 16 Blush I was quite advanced in age when I discovered the notion of cookbooks and how they held the secret of tastiness....

I can cook oven chips of various thicknesses in fan ovens and conventional ovens. [proud]
