The Duke of York wants his daughters to be full time Royals?

www.express.co.uk/news/royal/724136/prince-andrew-requests-princesses-beatrice-eugenie-kensington-prince-charles-queen-william

This is a Sunday Express link, not a Fail one.

So Andrew wants both of his daughters to have full time royal roles funded by the public & have larger apartments at Kensington Palace. Given that the only time I ever see them in the news is for dreadful outfits & holidays, to me they are embarrassing & a bit cringy.

Andrew is complaining that they are overshadowed by William, Catherine & Harry. But if you believe & support a system of privilege by birth such as the monarchy, then it stands to reason that the direct heirs are more important than the rest.

Does Andrew have a point & IABU?!

I was really surprised too. The Paris Match photo is Prince Philip in 1957 when he was 36 so a similar age to Harry. I didn't realise they had the a similar hair colour because Philip has always had grey hair.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 28/10/2016 09:56

sorry always had grey hair during my life time

BalloonSlayer · 28/10/2016 10:00

Philip was extremely blond but may have had a gingery beard.

young philip

BillSykesDog · 28/10/2016 10:24

All the other Spencer children are ginger. George VI and Edward VIII were red heads too. He's not Hewitt's.

QueenoftheAndals · 28/10/2016 10:40

Yes, one of Diana's sisters has a son who is basically a portlier version of Harry.

SamanthaBrique · 28/10/2016 10:41

Young Prince Phillip looked like a Greek god! It's a shame none of his sons inherited his looks.

ThroughThinkandThing · 28/10/2016 10:45

I saw a black and white photo of Charles, William and Harry in the National Portrait Gallery a few years ago - it's so clear that he is Charles's son.

Also, frankly, the first thing the Sun etc did when Harry started clubbing was a DNA test - do you really think if he wasn't Charles's son they would keep quiet?!

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 28/10/2016 10:47

I think the Paris Match photo is the final nail in the coffin for the Hewitt theory. The family resemblance between him and Philip is very clear.

LikeDylanInTheMovies · 28/10/2016 10:49

One thing I've always wondered, why are non-inherited Royal dukedoms only conferred upon marriage?

Because it is a bit if a ballache to go to Argos to buy a toaster?

EdithSitwell · 28/10/2016 10:50

Harry resembles Charles far more than William does. But tell me how did the Sun do a DNA test? I don't understand.

TaraCarter · 28/10/2016 10:56

Through means that it would have been easy for the Sun to get an illicit DNA sample, e.g. by swiping Harry's glass.

EdithSitwell · 28/10/2016 10:57

Yes, but against whose DNA did they attempt to match it?

FannyWincham · 28/10/2016 10:58

Edith I have no idea if they did but it would be very easy: stick an investigator in Mahiki and swipe Harry'a beer bottle or glass when he's finished with it. Get a saliva sample from the glass and test. You'd need a Hewitt sample too, of course.

ThroughThinkandThing · 28/10/2016 11:00

I'm only assuming, but I don't think it would be that difficult, and think of the headlines - it would be like gold dust for whichever tabloid broke that story!

And yes, William is his mother all over again - if one were to pick one of them to speculate over in those terms, it would be him! (Disclaimer: I don't think William isn't Charles son!)

EdithSitwell · 28/10/2016 11:01

That's what I mean. You'd need a Hewitt sample too or a sample from a member of the royal family close to Harry.

Dontpanicpyke · 28/10/2016 11:02

My recollection is that they paid a girl to gather hair from his hairbrush. Or attempted to and were slammed down.

Andrew's not supposed to be Philip's son - he is supposed to be the son of Lord Porchester. These rumours have been circulating for years, so you think that one of the Tabloids would have managed to get a DNA sample from Andrew.

QueenoftheAndals · 28/10/2016 11:19

There's rumours about Edward's father too but I can't remember who that's supposed to be. Not sure I can imagine QEII playing away from home though...

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 28/10/2016 12:02

The rumour about Edward is Lord Plunket - Patrick Plunket the Queen's equerry

I'd be astounded if the rumours about the Queen's children were true. She's genuinely a committed and sincere Christian and has been bought up with duty incalculated in her so strongly I don't believe she would do anything like that which might endanger the monarchy if discovered. She's too sensible.

chilipepper20 · 28/10/2016 12:15

But I would still keep Royalty as nominal Heads of Government, but just cut back on all the pomp and ceremony and cut back on the hangers on.

Why? What's the reason we want any position in government to be inherited? We simply won't get the best person to do the job. We got lucky with the current monarch, even though that itself doesn't guarantee she was most suited.

hopetobehappy · 28/10/2016 13:52

I'd love to see the "facts" showing that Queen and Prince Philip are Nazis.Did you find them on the David Icke forum?*
I haven't said anywhere on this thread that either of them are billsykes, where on earth on this thread did I say that ? Shock
