I've snogged every member of Boyzone, including Ronan. I am incredibly proud of this...

DP is fond of telling everyone how much the Queen Mother loved his fart joke. He was escorting her around his barracks when one of the ceremonial horses which had pulled her carriage farted, the Queen Mother said "Oh, I'm terribly sorry!" to which DP replied "Oh, I thought it was the horse!"

He says she split her sides laughing... Hmm

Please keep the John Barrowman stories coming....

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 26/10/2016 04:02

Approaching Lee Mack the day his son started reception and telling him how much I liked Not Going Out may have had some effect on him, because the next few days he did the school run in a hat & sunglasses.😂
His son and our DS3 were good friends while at infant school, so I got to know his wife a little bit, they are both lovely btw.
When their daughter was born and they broke the news to the boys their DS1's first reaction was "I still don't have as many sibling as ZingBoy!" 😂 (I was pg with my 6th at the time).
Now that our DDs are in the same class it's nice to see them again.

When DS1 was a chorister he met Prince Edward who was talking to the boys after the concert & was very nice.

So I did meet Nicole Scherzinger yesterday. She seemed very nice and friendly - but she didn't like snakes .......

perditalost · 26/10/2016 05:58

John Barrowman was in the Virgin UC lounge at LHR. I think he went on the LA flight. He was clutching a very very big pillow. He was by desk for ages chatting to the staff and seemed to be asking anyone who went by if they wanted a picture/autograph. He was on the main thoroughfare to the loos so trade was busy. This was at the height of his tv fame

I thought it was cute and that he seemed nice, my DH though that he looked very needy.

MrsMontgomerySmythe · 26/10/2016 10:07

I met the Wombles and helped them pick up litter in a local park circa 1977!

SchnooSchnoo · 26/10/2016 10:19

I saw Jamie Dornan in Waitrose yesterday!

SapphireStrange · 26/10/2016 10:26

What was he buying, Schnoo?

JoffreyBaratheon · 26/10/2016 12:13

Ex was an actor and he had some very rude things to say about Jude Law (who he'd worked with just before JL was famous) and Todd Carty. I think he was just jealous of them so have always liked Jude Law that little bit more, because of it... He also was often up for the same auditions as Ross Kemp (the ex, not Jude Law) and said Ross used to be very intense when he was outside auditions, waiting. Again, jealousy. Ross probably got the parts ex didn't.

Ex was in something in the theatre once and claimed he was hit on, quite determinedly, by Meera Syal (This was years ago). She was really persistent (he claimed) but he just didn't fancy her and managed to shake her off.

BillSykesDog · 26/10/2016 12:18

I met Nicole Sherzinger briefly recently, she was really nice. A friend works with her and apparently she has the best reputation and is so lovely it's almost impossible to find anybody who would say a word against her. Says she is really kind and considerate and grateful for the work her colleagues do right down to the cleaning lady. And she will treat that cleaning lady as nicely as she treats the head of ITV or Simon Cowell.

Inadays · 26/10/2016 13:16

Many years ago when I was a freelance cook I cooked twice for the Queen Mother who snaffled up my soufflés and said they were delicious! She was lovely, and arrived in her Bentley wearing her slippers, which she left in the car before changing into her shoes.

I also cooked for (Sir) Cliff Richard once who brought his own tub of Flora with him as he wasn't eating butter at the time! he was very nice too and quite dapper Smile.

Also shared a changing room in a clothes shop in London once with Valerie SingletonSmile.

Saw Christopher Timothy mentioned earlier (James Herriott in All Creatures Great and Small) - he came through my checkout once when I was a uni student in my late teens. I'd been a small girl when All Creatures was on but had been a huge fan, probably because of the animals so I was slightly star-struck, and this was in a back-water in Australia so was very unexpected. I had the presence of mind to ask him how on Earth they'd done the cow birthing scenes (am I the only one who was curious about this...? Blush) Apparently, they had a register of local farms who were under instruction to let the crew know if one of their cows went into labour, then the actors would pitch up and film the scene and, yes, they'd really stick their arms in - it wasn't a clever camera angle. He was charming and asked me if I was studying vet medicine as he said it was usually vet students who recognised him (I wasn't).

My favourite story, though - Brian May, guitar God from Queen and the grand passion of my teenage years (in the 90s - I was a little unconventional), came on a solo tour with his own band to the same Australian back water, so my excitement was beyond the beyond, since I never actually thought I'd see him. I took my mum who is in a wheelchair and got to the venue early. We heard them doing their sound check inside and mum looked devious then whispered, 'Take me up to the security guards...' I wheeled her over, and mum said to him weakly, 'I'm terribly sorry but I'm feeling quite unwell in this hot weather.' We got ushered in...ALL THE WAY TO THE FUCKING AUDITORIUM. Brian hopped off the stage when we came in and helped me get mum's wheelchair down the stairs and set us up front and centre. I blubbed slightly then threw my arms around his neck and told him I loved him Blush He was utterly lovely and let me pat his hair. Towards the end of the concert, he was giving the front row high fives, but specifically got down on his knees so he could grasp my mum's hand while she was sat in her wheelchair. Delightful man Smile

GabsAlot · 26/10/2016 15:03

lovely story elphaba what a nice man

so glad to hear scherzinger is nice she seems really sweet

ElleLondon · 26/10/2016 15:20

Prince Harry (and his bodyguard) were behind me in the queue at Costa in Victoria a few years ago. I only hang out at the most exclusive places Wink

Trod on Tina Hobley's toe in Selfridges- she was very nice and apologised to me!

Todd Carty said hi to me coming out of a coffee shop in Muswell Hill years ago. I don't know him so he must have mistaken me for someone else.

astralplanejane · 26/10/2016 16:17

The Edge from U2 bought me and a couple of friends drinks years ago and I think was a bit peeved that we didn't recognise him at the time. Blush

Sat next to Rachel Maddow on the subway in New York for one stop (this is a bit niche but it made my day because she's great).

Went on about 4 dates with Neil Pearson in the late 90s & he was really lovely, but it didn't work out in the end.

MerylPeril · 26/10/2016 16:40

NEIL PEARSON......

Oh how I fancied him....

lastnicknamefree · 26/10/2016 17:20

I've met a fair few celebs, memorable ones being..
Michael Jackson - down to earth and not after special treatment but had BO
Rowan Atkinson - moody and up his own backside.
Frank Bruno - oh that laugh!! Love him
Graham norton - just as you'd expect
Barbara Windsor - more teeny tiny than you can imangine, half of her height is hairpiece!
Robert Powell - one of my faves, so friendly
Robert Lyndsey - looks so old in the flesh and calls himself Bob
Richard O Brien - creepy!
Alistair Mcgowen - surprisingly shy and reserved for a comedian
Boyzone - friendly and smiley
Gino de Campo - stand offish and not so friendly
Melanie Sykes - so beautiful in the flesh and smiley. Very pretty
Can't think of any more that are worth mentioning off the top of my head, my favourite was actually minor celeb of old neighbours days Craig McLachlan because he was bloody gorgeous and I really fancied him

blitheringbuzzards1234 · 26/10/2016 17:24

My late FIL worked in London and he was driving down a very narrow road when he came bumper to bumper with Katie Boyle. She leaned out of her window and called, 'I think I'd better back up,' so she reversed quite a long way back so that FIL could drive on. As he passed her she gave him the most charming smile and for the rest of his life he remained just a little bit in love with her.

GabsAlot · 26/10/2016 18:04

lastnickname i met craig aswell really nice

marcopront · 26/10/2016 19:30

Not with a celebrity but his wife told me.

"I had to go to Africa last year, because I had to go to South Africa, because I had to go to the opening ceremony of the World Cup."

One of the many Bollywood stars at the school I work at. We sat after the parent teacher meeting yesterday, telling a new member of staff who they all are. I just nod, I recognise some names.

Nivea101 · 26/10/2016 19:52

Mine will have to be almost met, wrong place, wrong time.

So working on a counter for unaccompanied baggage in Sydney airport, I went to lunch while my colleague took over, came back to find her all atwitter as Ronan Keating had called in to check in his (then) wife's luggage. So then we checked the suitcases for anything forbidden as we were supposed to do (alcohol, perfume, anythig considered explosive, etc.) and we had a serious look at her lovely clobber all bought from swish boutiques with labels still attached.

So a few weeks later same colleague goes to lunch while I man the counter and she sees Anne Hathaway as I sit there idly and see nobody.

Fast forward a few years later in the UK and I'm at my local supermarket in Cheshire when the check out guy tells me I've just missed Carla Connor off Corrie and how she's lovely and very nice to the staff. And how Steve McDonald and Ken Barlow often pop in and I never saw any of them!!

Approximateh0usewife · 26/10/2016 23:01

As a late teen and living at the family home in Sydney we were neighbours with Mr (Flathead) Fisher off of Home and Away.

Fast forward almost thirty years and another hemisphere, and I am now neighbours with one of the Inbetweeners.

jamdonut · 26/10/2016 23:30

Some years ago, I found I was sitting under a hairdryer next to Elaine Smith (Daphne from Neighbours) who was doing a play at the Palace Theatre, Watford, at the time.
I also got to talk to Brian Connolly from Sweet , when he broke his arm and was coming to the hospital I worked in. This was not long before he died.
He brought in some photos of the band for me and some of the nurses.

I also got Elton John's autograph at a Watford FC Open Day, back when he was first chairman at the club. Everyone was crowding round Graham Taylor, and Elton was looking a bit dejected, with so few people around him! Don't think he was used to that! So he seemed quite relieved when me and my friends went over to ask him to sign our books!

Lymmmummy · 26/10/2016 23:56

Not surprised about Jennifer Saunders just something about her I have never warmed too - agree seems a bit too pleased with herself

lostoldlogin2 · 27/10/2016 08:09
