I've snogged every member of Boyzone, including Ronan. I am incredibly proud of this...

DP is fond of telling everyone how much the Queen Mother loved his fart joke. He was escorting her around his barracks when one of the ceremonial horses which had pulled her carriage farted, the Queen Mother said "Oh, I'm terribly sorry!" to which DP replied "Oh, I thought it was the horse!"

He says she split her sides laughing... Hmm

I used to work in TV..never met anyone who was anything more than normal.

A couple of Hollywoods were just hilariously mundane and why not.

MrsReiver · 23/10/2016 20:58

I got a fist bump off Samuel L Jackson when I was absolutely wasted one night. I wish I had been sober enough for a better encounter but my friend who was with me was so drunk she doesn't remember it.

And I peed in the cubicle next to Duchess Catherine, back when she was just Wills' girlfriend.

upaladderagain · 23/10/2016 22:30

Oldies may remember a wrestler called Big Daddy: I shared a jacuzzi with him decades ago, just him and me. We studiously ignored each other.

Also shared a sauna with Greg Wallace, again just the two of us. He only stayed about 2 minutes.

Odd that my only two sleb encounters involved swimwear.

morebubblyplease · 23/10/2016 22:44

Billy Joel, on his piano, in his house. Swoon. George Martin, in Abbey Road Studios. And his house. Swoon. Mick Fleetwood. Cunt. Other musicians of that era from time working in television. Work in the NHS now. No slebs but lots of lovely old people.

Longdistance · 23/10/2016 22:51

Greeted this tall statuesque lady at the aircraft doors, who I thought was a crew member I knew and cheerily greeted her like she was a friend.

Until I read her boarding pass Naomi Campbell Blush

She was actually quite pleasant, as we've all heard the stories what she's like.

Must have been my customer service that relaxed her, ha!

timshortfforthalia · 23/10/2016 22:53

Not mine, my brothers, but it rocks...

He was having flying lessons. Turned up to one lesson and found the school had double booked his lesson. The other person had suggested they could split the lesson, half hour each. He agreed. Went into waiting room and came face to face with the other flying student, who turned out to be Angelina Jolie

VeryFoolishFay · 23/10/2016 22:55

I accidentally knocked a glass of red wine out of Gina Yashere's hand at a comedy club one night.

At a mutual friend's curry night, Chesney Hawkes called my DH a 'greedy bastard'. He retaliated by enquiring whether Ches was 'still in the music business'....

Catwaving · 23/10/2016 23:15

I spent a weekend in the woods - obviously - with Ray Mears

Catwaving · 23/10/2016 23:21

There's a few that seem to be popping up all over the place:

David Bowie, Ant and Dec, Robbie Williams, Paul Daniels, Dawn French

I too have met the great Chesney, pretended I didn't know who he was to try and appear cool

Ps. Why the secrecy over this threesome invite Coconut? It's all anonymous, c'mon which cast member was it? I'm thinking Suranne herself now....

AbernathysFringe · 24/10/2016 00:31

Got given an event programme by Brian May. Shook Gary Glitter's hand on my work experience (a loooong time before it all came out.) he was like a wrinkled prune. Slept in a bed after Nicole Kidman did (doesn't really count!). My ultimate girl crushes tweeted and facebooked me - Lisa Bonet and Lori Petty (Tank Girl). Worked with Hearsay. Met Nine Inch Nails and Fear Factory. Sat next to Phil the estate agent guy on the train once. He huffed. So I made a big deal of moving when a seat came up and he was very apologetic and ashamed. Oh and Russell Brand, two opportunities of sexing with him and didn't due to ex boyfriend and hope of reconciling. Had fling with a famous producer who was into s&m though! Erk.

Freeda86 · 24/10/2016 09:10

Sazbird my dad was a musician who played round the Northern Clubs, mainly accompanying or background music inbetween acts/bingo. I must have seen 1000 acts, few of which I remember, except for Freddie Starr. He was surprisingly good (Well to my 7 year old mind). Never heard a bad word about him either, and musicians gossip like mad about the various acts...

If you want 70s' fame, though, I'm almost the next door neighbour to Tommy Cannon - he is known to be a nice man who does a lot in the community for people. I've only seen him go past in his big car - he used to wave at me when I was a regular jogger down the lane by his house.

My biggest cheesy 70s claim to fame is seeing Freddie "Parrot Face" Davies in a grocery shop in Scarborough in the late 60s or early 70s... He was being a total diva. Would have given Beyonce a run for her money in diva-ness. I don't think my dad played for him he must have been doing the summer season.

JoffreyBaratheon · 24/10/2016 13:21

ETA: Was amused to see Cilla on 'Room 101' the other day (old repeat). She succeeded in getting her item into Room 101.... Her item? People who say "Don't you know who I am?" Quite funny in the light of this (and other) threads.

FetchezLaVache · 24/10/2016 15:42

ExH and I were extras on Emmerdale once. Marlon Dingle recognised ExH - they'd met at a party years earlier and had spent much of the evening chatting about vinyl vs. CDs - and invited us to join a cast outing to the pub that night.

Talking of Dingles, my cousin briefly went out with Butch many years ago. I went out for an evening with them and he was absolutely charming, spending ages chatting to the swarms of children who came up for his autograph (he was still in Emmerdale at the time). He ended up ringing Zac to come and join us for dinner! It was one of the best nights ever - they were just so funny.

Another former member of the cast of Emmerdale tried to sign me up to an MLM scheme, but was very gracious when I declined.

And moving away from the Emmerdale theme, Hugo Speer (Full Monty, Muskateers) once helped me with my pushchair into a café bar in Harrogate when DS was two. He played with DS while I ordered my coffee, then, when DS expressed disappointment at the fact that they'd run out of biscuits, left the bar and returned ten minutes later with a beautiful teddy bear biscuit from Betty's for him.

BettyBlue84 · 24/10/2016 16:30

I have a few (from working on Reception at a posh hotel).

I once checked in the whole Man United squad, this was just after Beckham had left) I didn't really know who any of them were but they seemed like nice lads :-)

I checked in Kim Marsh (back when she was dating Jack from Eastenders) she was lovely.

I met Jason Donovan.

I unknowingly checked in Jimmy Tarbuck (he was in disguise and using a fake name, and refused to give me his credit card when checking in, which was standard procedure. I had to call the manager over as he was getting rather annoyed with me, she apologised and gave him his room key and when he left she told me who he was! I was mortified! haha)

SapphireStrange · 24/10/2016 16:56

Vache, what a sweet Hugo Speer story! I liked him in The Musketeers.

MrsRyanGosling15 · 24/10/2016 17:57

My DH and a work friend were flying 1st class and his friend took a picture of him on the flight oh the novelty of 1st class anyway when we were looking back at the pictures in the background is Ryan Giggs with the girl he had the affair with and they looked very 'close' The stuff about court hadn't came out yet and we just thought it was his wife, didn't realise until after.

LikeDylanInTheMovies · 24/10/2016 18:08

My favourite Cilla story is probably apocryphal and was gleaned from Popbitch via a cabin crew forum, but bears repeating

'Known – and feared – throughout the cabin crew community, Cilla Black’s in-flight attitude is the stuff of legend.

Not only would she insist upon travelling first class, she’d demand seat 1A. That was only the first of many demands too – all of which were made through her PA, as Cilla didn’t want to speak to any staff herself. The full nine yards too, not so much as a please or thank you.

One flight attendant eventually grew so tired of her behaviour, that he leaned over to speak directly to her and uttered the immortal line: “I knew you couldn’t sing, but I didn’t know you couldn’t fucking speak”.'

SweetestThing · 24/10/2016 18:20

Tony Benn spoke at our conference and I chatted to him afterwards. He was quite old and a bit frail, but I felt I was in the presence of greatness, especially when he gave me a hug and said "Bless you".

Was lucky enough to be invited to the Olivier Awards after-party a few years ago and was totally star struck. I walked across the room and found myself face to face with Brian May. I told him he was Rock God. He just smiled.

Katherine Kelly (Becky in Coronation Street) is lovely; I got her a glass of champagne and we chatted for ages. Really normal and her (now) husband is totally down to earth as well.

Toyah Wilcox spoke at our local arts festival last week and stayed for ages chatting to people, signing old vinyl albums and being generally just lovely.

The actor who plays Sean in Corrie was rude and dismissive, but Kevin and Tyrone are lovely (but Kevin is tiny!).

GabsAlot · 24/10/2016 18:28

met chesney loads of times and been in his parents house nothing but lovely

never acted like he was famous and this was back when his single was number one

EastMidsGPs · 24/10/2016 18:53

Tutoring on weekend course for women at rather nice hotel in Derbyshire.
Shared lift down to breakfast with James Martin - around his 'Ready Steady Cook' era when he had long hair and wore daft headbands.
He determinedly looked into the far distance so as not to make eye contact. He smelled nice tho .. not of chip fat. He was off to do some sort of cookery demonstration at a local country show.

Discovered later some of the supposedly 'mature' women on our course had cornered him in the bar the previous evening. So he probably thought he was in for a second round.

DrunkOnEther · 24/10/2016 20:12

I love this thread!
I got absolutely wrecked with Charlotte Church a fair few times in Cardiff - gods, that girl could drink! 😂

Have also been gotten drunk and/or high, and/or shagged Blush by several musicians over the years, but all metallers, not particularly mainstream. Although the night drinking beer and chatting with James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich (with others) is one of my fondest memories. James even surprisingly hugged me and called me 'darlin' - swoon!
