AIBU to go to cinema on my own?

Desperate to see Bridget Jones Baby and basically everyone I've asked has already been! (Feeling slightly shit that no one has asked me to go with them). Shall I go on my own? Or is that really sad? Also is it more a film to see with girlfriends?

Just go. It's really funny. One of my friends wants to go a second time, do you think any of yours would?

Allthewaves · 19/10/2016 21:56

Go on your own. I love finishing work bit early and catching a movie

yesterdaysunshine · 19/10/2016 21:56

I am one to err on the side of caution and many of the things mumsnetters profess to do alone would fill me with dread, but the cinema isn't one of them.

But - I don't personally think it would be as enjoyable to see a film like this alone.

SianiMoomin · 19/10/2016 21:56

Definitely go by yourself, why not?

ninenicknames · 19/10/2016 21:57

Always go to the cinema on my own. Mind you - tend to do everything on my own Hmm

MissClarke86 · 19/10/2016 21:58

I've been thinking this too!

Do you happen to live in Nottingham? Smile

MoonStar07 · 19/10/2016 21:58

No one wants to see it again. One friend is going away for 5 days over half term with another friend and kids (not invited same friendship
Group- another thread that I'm not going to start) anyway she's the only one who hasn't seen it but can't go when I can cos she's away (with our other friend) I could wait for her to come back. To be honest I feel horrible I don't have anyone even to go to the cinema with.

Just go, not like you converse during a film anyway. I've done it. Lovely!

Mrskeats · 19/10/2016 21:59

I would I've gone on my own in the past.
It's funny so don't miss it

Sweetpea302 · 19/10/2016 21:59

Go on your own and make it a treat. Get some nice snacks and enjoy stretching out and not having to share your Malteasers! If you approach it as something to look forward to then you'll enjoy it. It's a brilliant film!

everdene · 19/10/2016 22:00

I LOVE going to the cinema on my own, it wouldn't cross my mind to feel lonely/embarrassed. No one will care or probably even notice.

Funko · 19/10/2016 22:01

I go on my own. It's awesome!

BikeRunSki · 19/10/2016 22:02

I saw Bridget on my own. It's an excellent film. Just go.

creamcheeseandlox · 19/10/2016 22:02

I go on my own whilst the kids are at school on my day off if there's a film I want to see. Love it. No one bats an eyelid.

janethegirl2 · 19/10/2016 22:04

If I want to see a film and no one wants to go with me, I go on my own but I'm lucky as I've got a good cinema within walking distance.

MoonStar07 · 19/10/2016 22:05

I'll go on my own and report back (probably won't be able to go until Sunday)

handsfree · 19/10/2016 22:05

I used to work for a cinema chain and people came in on their own all the time. I promise you, no one will bat an eye!

ample · 19/10/2016 22:06

I've been to the cinemas plenty of times on my own. It's great.
during the day mostly when I've had a day off Would go to an evening show alone too had I half the chance.
Go. You don't need anyone's company. And BJB is not really a sloppy date movie anyway.

MoonStar07 · 19/10/2016 22:07

Just feel sad so many been and not asked Confused

Honestly, I was apprehensive too. But last Sunday night I went to see Miss Saigon on my own and it was amazing! My sort of DP and other people said they'd come with me but I didn't see the point of making them pay £15 and spend nearly 3 hours watching a musical they wouldn't enjoy. There were loads of people there on their own.... and if you're really conscious get in as the trailers start and no one will know you're on your own anyway!

GreenShadow · 19/10/2016 22:09

I've been twice by myself.

One of those times I was the only person there and had the whole place to myself. That was weird.

MoonStar07 · 19/10/2016 22:10

Oh couldn't do the whole room by myself! I doubt a Sunday evening the cinema will be empty?

My friend goes every week when she drops DC off at an activity in another city and she has a few hours to kill on her own, so she just goes to the cinema! She loves it and sees it as her weekly treat.

Lovefromhull · 19/10/2016 22:10

Done it- was great. go and enjoy it!
