Another neighbourly dispute, same neighbours that claimed our cat was teasing their dog, and the same neighbours who accused us of stealing blackberries off their bush that happened to grow over my fence.

Well if I hadn't thought they were ridiculous before, I definitely do now.

Woke up this morning to find a note through the door saying they have had a new piano delivered and due to space they were limited on places it could go indoors (not our problem) they are saying where they have placed it is under a window and their view from the piano is a large oak tree which is in our garden. Their problem is that they are saying the many birds nests that are in this tree are distracting and these wild birds are making too much noise therefore distracting them from the piano.

There isn't even a suggestion in the note of what they'd like us to do about it. Not that I would even consider taking any action towards the tree but FFS what on earth are they doing? They don't have a bloody leg to stand on??

This thread is too funny to be true..

I would send the letter from the birds union...please do that.

I also love the birds with wings in their ears idea...please also do that. I quite like the idea of totally taking the piss back, if they question it you can then say " Fuck me, you we serious!?????"

I have an awkward neighbour who thinks that she should have peace and moans about everything. I ignore her.

MaureenMLove · 19/10/2016 20:55

Sorry, THERE not here. Don't come here, I'm not your neighbour. Although I do have a piano. And I got it from a Mumsnetter funnily enough!

themindbogglesallthetime · 19/10/2016 20:55

But lots & I mean lots! Of bird feeders, and Pinterest has some delicious bird food treats you can make! (Me and my dc make these once a fortnight) and now get tons of birds in the garden! Grin

Chippednailvarnishing · 19/10/2016 20:59

Would your competitive DH fancy dressing up and climbing the tree?

Omg l remember getting a council house many years ago and the neighbour had 'earmarked'it for a relative. First thing she said to me when we went looking round was ' You won't be moving in there, our Ann's getting it ' We did get it and moved in and lived there nine years. She never forgave us and didn't speak a word to us in all the time we lived there Grin

Masketti · 19/10/2016 21:02

But seriously. They can't expect you to take a massive oak tree down on their piano whim?!?

Utterly utterly bonkers. Especially the chasing note.

cozietoesie · 19/10/2016 21:02

Sounds like a result, Bahhhh. Smile

KeepCoolCalmAndCollected · 19/10/2016 21:07

Tell them that the piano playing is giving you horrendous migraines and could they please replace it asap with an electric keyboard that has earphones.
They won't hear the birds and you won't have to hear Elton playing the piano be all day long.
Self-absorbed twunts.

PoisonousSmurf · 19/10/2016 21:11

Scare the shit out of them. Bang on their door and tell them to stuff their piano where the sun don't shine!
Who the hell do they think they are?
Good idea FrancisCrawford!

myshinynewusername · 19/10/2016 21:14

I'm laughing so much, I have tears running down my cheeks.

Please, please keep us updated, OP. Grin

IamSwitzerland · 19/10/2016 21:16

Assuming you are in Englandshire OP, you want one of these pronto;

tree preservation order

May be worth having a solicitor send them a copy once it is done so the bampots don't try and down while you are out one day and do this...

So we went round there and wife apologised and said she did think Andy was being slightly over the top and unfair.

She said she thinks cutting said tree down would be making too much of a thing of it all (HmmGrin) but she suggested we add various fat balls & other bird related paraphernalia in other spots of the garden to encourage the birds to other parts therefore manoeuvring all attention away from said tree. I nearly choked with laughter.

Can't see a way round it! I said we would see what's best for the birds interests

Love ineedwine99s comment!

KeepCoolCalmAndCollected · 19/10/2016 21:17

Print this off and stuff it through their letterbox with an accompanying note telling them to keep off your property and not to darken your door again.

IamSwitzerland · 19/10/2016 21:18

Tell them to check these out at the same time since you would hate to have to call the noise team out about their piano.

Lilianna123 · 19/10/2016 21:19

I did mention perhaps altering the furniture around to accommodate for the piano at a spot where Andy would find it more 'suitable' and less distracting for his piano playing but she said they have tried

Maybe it is time your cat got a pet Rottweiler too?

IamSwitzerland · 19/10/2016 21:21

Chumps, he could have got an electric one - fits space better and can be used with headphones...

Who the hell buys a PIANO without measuring first?

EatsShitAndLeaves · 19/10/2016 21:22

The compromise is you get to buy loads of bird paraphernalia at your expense to "lure" the bird from their natural habitat Grin

MangoBiscuit · 19/10/2016 21:22

Perhaps find them a local builder who can brick in the window for them OP? Grin

MangoBiscuit · 19/10/2016 21:23

Oooh, or fill the tree with fat balls etc. Then when they complain, tell them that you thought it would help. I mean, how are the birds going to sing with their mouths full?

Lilianna123 · 19/10/2016 21:24

I've loved living here it's a beautiful village and we were always so happy as neighbours up until his retirement.

That's the sad thing. I didn't think such a boring family would create such over the top issues

OP posts:
Woody67 · 19/10/2016 21:25

They'll be complaining that the birds have been giving them funny looks next! I thought my neighbours were odd but that takes the biscuit!!

StrangeLookingParasite · 19/10/2016 21:25

Mad. As. Fish.

Tell them to do one, the entitled pair of twats.

blueturtle6 · 19/10/2016 21:29

Tell them to watch the second lord of the rings film, the trees/ents retaliated.
And teach the birds to sing dizzee rascals bonkers song
