Another neighbourly dispute, same neighbours that claimed our cat was teasing their dog, and the same neighbours who accused us of stealing blackberries off their bush that happened to grow over my fence.

Well if I hadn't thought they were ridiculous before, I definitely do now.

Woke up this morning to find a note through the door saying they have had a new piano delivered and due to space they were limited on places it could go indoors (not our problem) they are saying where they have placed it is under a window and their view from the piano is a large oak tree which is in our garden. Their problem is that they are saying the many birds nests that are in this tree are distracting and these wild birds are making too much noise therefore distracting them from the piano.

There isn't even a suggestion in the note of what they'd like us to do about it. Not that I would even consider taking any action towards the tree but FFS what on earth are they doing? They don't have a bloody leg to stand on??

Point out that you are passionate about music too, and only wish that's what they were playing?

PerspicaciaTick · 19/10/2016 20:23

And buy some windchimes to make lovely sounds while the birds hide away over winter.

Bejazzled · 19/10/2016 20:26

LOL nutty as a fruit cake 🙂

mycatstares · 19/10/2016 20:26

I don't think he realizes that trees love pianos.

Print out this photo for him. It may change his mind.

Can't you write back.

"The tree will be staying. At least the cat can chase birds instead of teasing your dog so I know you'll agree it's best. I'm also surprised any birds are choosing to nest considering the racket coming from your house nowadays."

SauvignonBlanche · 19/10/2016 20:28

Bat crap crazy! Shock

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 19/10/2016 20:29

You like your tree and won't be cut down.

Sorted and Andy can shove it right up his arse.

evelynj · 19/10/2016 20:29

I'd say, sorry the tree was here before the piano. You know the rules-last in first out!

Also beg them to keep sending notes as this wins the internet for today & I want more!

TheTyrannyOfMAGENTA · 19/10/2016 20:30

Bonkers.

cozietoesie · 19/10/2016 20:30

What birds are nesting and making a noise from it in late October by the way?

TheTyrannyOfMAGENTA · 19/10/2016 20:30

What is the competitive DH thing about?

Ankleswingers · 19/10/2016 20:31

Mad as a box of frogs if you ask me.....

Confused
FlipFlop78 · 19/10/2016 20:32

Love rockybird's suggestion Grin

Tell them how Andy's love of music has reignited yours and that you've bought a piano. Then download some professional piano music solos (make sure they're better than his efforts) and play them loud enough for the wackos to hear.

My neighbour has bought a violin. It sounds like when Rik Mayall plays it in Drop Dead Fred.

So, about the tree. If tambourine dancing isn't your thing, I would get the TPO and tell them to fuck off and stop trespassing on your property with their childish note-posting.

RortyCrankle · 19/10/2016 20:32

Send them a note asking if they can spare a box of frogs. Then tomorrow, sneakily climb up the tree to place several speakers. Buy a recording of bird songs, play loudly through speakers until they move. Smile

OhBigHairyBollocks · 19/10/2016 20:32

Brilliant Grin

WingsofNylon · 19/10/2016 20:35

Tell them tou have bought a gun to sort out the problem. Then put up a 'trespassers will be shot' sign

Isitjustmeorisiteveryoneelse · 19/10/2016 20:35

You could suggest, in a return note, that your tree thinks it recognises the mahogany, in their piano, as one of its friends and is now traumatised, so they really need to remove the piano from your trees view into their sitting room.....fight bonkers with bonkers.

Shadowboy · 19/10/2016 20:46

Jokes aside this could get worrying. How close is the tree to the boundary? Is there any chance they can get to it to poison it?

EatsShitAndLeaves · 19/10/2016 20:46

Suggest the following:

"I've spoken to the tree about your request and it's asked me to forward the response to your suggestion below."

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 19/10/2016 20:47

Keep the notes in case something happens to the tree.
And watch them like a hawk.

GothyGeisha · 19/10/2016 20:49

Don't know if its been mentioned but it is very bad for pianos to be in direct sunlight, it will ruin it....perhaps you could mention that?

alltheworld · 19/10/2016 20:50

Keep the note and a log of their strange behaviour and requests

riceuten · 19/10/2016 20:51

Unresolved and enduring mental health issues - ignore

ineedwine99 · 19/10/2016 20:52

'You could suggest, in a return note, that your tree thinks it recognises the mahogany, in their piano, as one of its friends and is now traumatised, so they really need to remove the piano from your trees view into their sitting room.....fight bonkers with bonkers'
Fantastic!!!! Grin

MaureenMLove · 19/10/2016 20:53

Why haven't you been round here yet OP? If they were my neighbours, I don't think I could have las test more than 5 seconds after the second note was delivered.
