I have a 15 day old who had an overnight hospital stay last week for poor feeding and weight loss,he has really improved since. However his toddler sister came home with a tummy bug Friday and today newborn ds has not fed since 8.30am. He vomited badly at 9am, again at 11.30 and has rejected all feeds no matter how much we tried. Syringe fed him at 6pm and he projectiled it all back up. He also has a temp of 35.3 and barely woken all day.

I don't know what to do :(

Glad you're at the hospital, it's the best place for him. Focus on your children, they're far more important than MN! Flowers

Very glad you're in hospital. Totally agree with making a fuss. Try not to worry though. They are very resilient.

Hoping all ok but op you have done the right thing! I felt like a fraud when my 4 week old after a day of high pitched screaming (not her) was still refusing to eat after 6 hours. She was seen within minutes and admitted but perked up and was eating the moment i arrived and stopped the horrible high pitched screaming the moment i walked through a@e s door. (figure that out!!). However she was checked over by three nurses, two doctors and a consultant and given the all clear and i was told by the doctors they much rather see a well baby than one whos mums waited. At no point did i feel it was the wrong thing to bring her in. Still no idea what was wrong with my baby that day but she wasnt right or herself. Maybe she was coming down with something and fought it off. 😏🙄. If in doubt take in as better safe than sorry. They so small. Hope okay op. Xxx

LumpySpaceCow · 16/10/2016 21:43

Glad you're getting seen. Whimper could be a respiratory grunt caused be infection/low temp/low blood sugar. You definitely did the right thing. Hope he's better soon x

Libitina · 16/10/2016 21:46

Glad you took heed OP. Hope you don't have to wait too long to be seen.

Hope you've been/being seen soon

milkyface · 16/10/2016 21:50

I'm so glad you took him op. I found myself in a similar situation to you but it wasn't feeding it was breathing. I was sure there just was something not right. Oh thought I was mental and thought ds was just a bit snotty and sniffly, but I rang 111 who called an ambulance (and freaked me right out but you can never be too careful!) and ended up being checked over by almost everyone in pediatrics as well as two a&e nurses and a doctor. Ended up he had bronchiolitis and we had an overnight stay.

If I hadn't called when I did I would have almost certainly had to ring 999 in the middle of the night because he just sounded awful poor kid.

He was fine in the end but when they're that tiny you just cannot be too careful.

Hope your baby is better soon. You certainly did the right thing x

Tiredtomybones · 16/10/2016 21:58
