Hundreds of thousands of people were willing Condemn a innocent man. He was practically forced out of football. This is why we can't play jury from our sofas.

Just to say, the Police dragged the victim into all this. They suggested there had been a rape NOT the young woman who in effect has been chased out of town and had her identity stolen from her.

Police notebook pages that have been published mention another footballer's name who had been a suspect in a sex crime but was never charged ........ it begins to suggest that the Police were out for revenge.

That there is a low conviction rate compared with the number of rapes that happen is indisputable...its a VERY difficult crime to prove legally and of course has a high psychological toll on its victims which makes it dangerous to even report.

But you cannot arbitrarily deny a man accused of rape his right to defend himself against the charge just because it (infinitesimally) corrects the statistics.

two things.

the woman has NEVER claimed she was raped.

there was NO evidence that Evans raped her.

Blame the Police and a complaisant CPS.

vorpal

Non of this would have happened if evans had not turned the taxi around.

larrygrylls · 18/10/2016 17:50

Boney,

She either was unable to consent, in which case he is a rapist or she consented and he has every right to carry on his life.

He no more deserves to be judged on his sexual morality than she does.

BoneyBackJefferson · 18/10/2016 18:00

larrygrylls

Yet, her morals were on trial, even when nothing in her sexual history is bad.

Yet his involve regularly cheating on his girlfriend, and we are supposed to hold some merit to his.

Either both can be judged or neither.

As to whether he is innocent or not, I am allowed to have my own opinion.

BoneyBackJefferson · 18/10/2016 18:09

"Either both can be judged or neither."

I'm going to take this back and say that given the type of case this is, people have every right to judge him on his sexual morals.

venusinscorpio · 18/10/2016 18:16

Yes he does deserve to be judged on his sexual morality. His behaviour on the night was undoubtedly predatory, whatever you think about the issue of her consent. Why do you think he was charged and convicted of rape in the first place when the complainant never reported being raped?

The evidence shows that he treated a drunk and vulnerable woman like a disposable wank sock, whether or not there is a reasonable doubt about his belief in consent.

HillaryFTW · 18/10/2016 18:32

Yy. At the very least, he let himself into a room where a drunk, naked, vulnerable young woman was having sex and had not invited him in. He also brought back two other men who watched through the window. All at the invitation of the man she had actually gone back with, without her knowledge or consent. He didn't say a word to her, by his own testimony.

It's not about sexual morals. It's about balance of power.

That's a terrifying situation to be in. Imagine you were drunk and having a chat with Evander Holyfield. Suddenly the door opens and Mike Tyson comes in. Outside the window are two rugby forwards. Evander betrays no surprise, because he texted Mike to let him know he'd "got a weakling".

If Mike Tyson asks you to borrow some money, how likely are you to say no?

This point rarely gets picked up on. Even if she was stone cold sober and had directly propositioned CM, she was in a very frightening position the second the door opened with his complicity.

PortiaCastis · 18/10/2016 18:35

Bollocks
That girl cannot get her life back she's being hounded from this Country. Why are a sleazy mans morals worth more.

Lighthouseturquoise · 18/10/2016 18:53

Well said Hilary, it's exactly about the balance of power.

It's one thing for a young woman to pick up with a young guy in town and head back to have sex. It's another for some more men to turn up unannounced.

Their behaviour was more than just immoral, it was predatory.

Lighthouseturquoise · 18/10/2016 18:54

Oh and now he's apparently looking to sue Gloria Hunniford, he really needs to just crawl back under his stone.

merrymouse · 18/10/2016 18:54

I agree Hillary.

Felascloak · 18/10/2016 18:55

Oh good luck with that. Did she call him a rapist?
The guy is a total wankbadger

KarlosKKrinkelbeim · 18/10/2016 18:58

I think modern notions of sexual morality have moved beyond you Larry. In the minds of most educated, enlightened people, they no longer centre on a woman keeping her legs together, but on respect for others, their autonomy and right to choose the terms in which and way in which they will be intimate sexually with others. in this sense the victim has not transgressed st all. Evans, even on his own version of events, is found very much wanting. Hence the reaction of even quite conservative media, such as the sun.
The world has moved on and you should too.

Marbleheadjohnson · 18/10/2016 19:01

No felas, she just called him a scummy bastard (paraphrasing. Our Glo is more eloquent)

I think they will go after anyone who doesn't repeat their narrative that he was the wronged party in all this. I am not sure they can buy victories for that fight.

starboyz · 18/10/2016 19:03

vorpal agree.

PortiaCastis · 18/10/2016 19:11

Glo will make mincemeat of the sleazy erm ballkicker

larrygrylls · 18/10/2016 19:20

That is not my view at all. I think sex is private between two consenting adults and don't judge others on whom they have sex with.

PortiaCastis · 18/10/2016 19:35

Ok so why was this poor girl having to give evidence about her previous activities but slime ball didnt have to mention his conquests?

memyselfandaye · 18/10/2016 19:40

Well said HILARYFTW

I do wonder what would have happened if she had been lucid enough to say no.

I can't imagine Chud and his pals just saying ok, and leaving.

He may have gotten off but he and his rancid brother still make my skin crawl.

venusinscorpio · 18/10/2016 19:41

It's not about what happened that we don't know for sure Larry. CE was undoubtedly predatory. He conned his way into the room without her consent assuming he could fuck her. As pp have pointed out there is a big difference between being with one man and then several more turning up uninvited.

TheWoodlander · 18/10/2016 19:45

I think they're having a laugh if they think they can sue people for repeating the facts of his own testimony/police interviews. His behaviour was reprehensible, he admitted as much in court.

I think they're a bit miffed about the headlines, they were expected "Poor Cheddyweddy" and got "Nope. Still a scumbag".

PortiaCastis · 18/10/2016 19:53

Wonder what'll happen when he plays an away game. Lots of women are football fans

david94 · 18/10/2016 20:23

Whatever your views on his morals. He didn't commit a crime. He took advantage of a drunk girl to have sex with her. Two witnesses claim she consented. She couldn't remember. That's not proof of rape. She never claimed she had been raped. This whole business is ridiculous. Situations like this happen every week/weekend across our country. I have been drunk, had sex with a drunken women and neither of us could remember much the following morning. Who raped who? Ridiculous..!

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 18/10/2016 20:24

Actually as disgusted with the whole affair as i am its only just occurred to me that the sexual history of ched should have been taken into account as well

If the defence have been allowed to trawl for 'evidence' of the young ladies sex life then the prosecution should absolutely be allowed to get 'evidence' of his

And yes i know that not taking into account her history is the whole point but if the law is going to say that on 'rare' Hmm occasions the victims history can be taken into account then on those same 'rare' Hmm occasions the accused's history should be as well

Tarla · 18/10/2016 20:25

Oh yay, a man is here to explain all about what is and isn't consent. Take notes, ladies!
