Hundreds of thousands of people were willing Condemn a innocent man. He was practically forced out of football. This is why we can't play jury from our sofas.

"The Mail on Sunday has made a donation to Rape Crisis on the family’s behalf."
👍

PortiaCastis · 16/10/2016 14:29

I hate the mail but this time they've done something right.

GahBuggerit · 16/10/2016 14:36

ghes a vile little scraping of a human as is his sad girlfriend. wasnt it the police who took it further anyway? am pretty sure she didnt choose for them toget involved?

either way, him and his bribing handmaiden are welcome to each other

mandi73 · 16/10/2016 15:14

At best he's a lying cheating tosser who has no problem with having unprotected sex with an unconscious stranger at worst he's a alleged/convicted/acquitted rapist either way he's far from innocent........as for his partner, where the hell is her self-esteem ?????????

Nanny0gg · 16/10/2016 15:35

The new evidence, is that the woman he was accused of raping, had had sex before when she was drunk and enjoyed it.

I don't get it. Surely all that proves is that she has had sex before without being able to give consent, therefore raped then as well as this time?

So whoever came forward with this 'evidence' should be prosecuted too?

Isitadoubleentendre · 16/10/2016 16:28

This woman's father has publicly supported her before, I am glad it seems as though she is well looked after by her family. As opposed to the 'if it were my daughter I'd be so ashamed and give her a slap for allowing her to be spitroasted by footballers' line that ive many times on social media Sad

Karl Massey take note - this is how a father is supposed to behave. Not spending thousands and thousands of pounds trying to clear the name of some absolute cunt that treated your daughter like shit.

Marbleheadjohnson · 16/10/2016 16:31

No Nanny, they also said she was sexually confident, asked for sex and asked for different positions and ask for harder sex. They were believed, and it was believed that this was sufficiently close to cheds account of her sexual behaviour, so it was enough to quash the conviction, and enough for an acquittal.

Of course, the fact that cheds account was already public knowledge by the time they came forward with the magic details....

CreepyClown · 16/10/2016 16:43

There is a lot of complications of the case and it is questionable if he is truly innocent or not however I will say as an ex party girl who has party with footballers I do find they seem to "women should be grateful to be near me" attitude.

Solosolowsoslow · 16/10/2016 17:17

hmm. Grateful to have her life shat upon.

allthingsred · 16/10/2016 17:31

This verdict has made me feel so sick.
I genuinely don't understand how anyone can think what he did was ok. Or what the fact the poor girl wasn't a Virgin had any bearence on the case.
I really hope the victim knows that people are on her side & doesn't feel alone & ostracised.
As for ched & his idiot wife I have no words.
Im hoping that the major football clubs will still see sense & he doesn't get signed by any of them. I certainly wouldn't want my son cheering him on or wearing a t shirt with his name on.
He's an absolute disgusting human being. & he's wag wannabe wife is a moron

BeyondReasonablyDoubts · 16/10/2016 17:31

It does raise an interesting question of whether "he reasonably believed she was consenting" is the correct yardstick. If someone believes they are gods gift and anyone would consent, would they get off a rape charge based on that?

Gottagetmoving · 16/10/2016 17:54

I've just seen on Twitter that a woman has been threatened with rape because she questioned the verdict. They've threatened to go round to her house and rape her. 3 men

Why do we see/hear about so many threats to rape these days?
Women are treated worse today than ever before by men and even teenage boys are abusing girls.
Women like Evans girlfriend are pathetic, Why stand by a man who so obviously views women as sex toys?

Tarla · 16/10/2016 18:01

Women are treated worse today than ever before by men

I think these attitudes have always existed with certain types of men, the only difference nowadays is that they have an immediate outlet for these thoughts via social media so their vile outpourings are visible to all. Then of course like calls to like and instead of that one dickhead in the pub who sees you being an independent woman and suggests a good fucking will sort you out, you get a pack of dickheads hounding your social media accounts threatening to rape you because you expressed an opinion they disagreed with.

PortiaCastis · 16/10/2016 18:18

Creepy Clown I neither know nor care who you mixed with. Wtf does an ex party girl mean? I will say that I think the bastard in question is scum along with his girlfriend

HeyOverHere · 16/10/2016 18:21

This case doesn't show us why mob justice is wrong, but the Duke Lacrosse one did.

Marbleheadjohnson · 16/10/2016 18:23

I read CreepyClowns post simply saying she's socialised with footballers in the past and there was a definite sense of arrogance and entitlement

acasualobserver · 16/10/2016 18:28

Portia you're being unnecessarily rude. The other poster only mentioned partying with footballers in order to reflect on their arrogant assumption that women should feel grateful to be in their company. Also, the term "party girl" is pretty widely used and understood.

acasualobserver · 16/10/2016 18:29

X-post. Slow typist!

PortiaCastis · 16/10/2016 18:31

Ok sorry

a7mints · 16/10/2016 18:35

It is not that the girl is not a virgin, it is that she has a history of getting drunk, going with people she doesn't know and enthusiastically directing sexual proceedings, and then claiming to have no memory of it in the morning. If someone is directing sexual proceedings they are clearly consenting. The oproblem I have with this hold case is that it mussies the water belittles the suffering of real victims of rape

a7mints · 16/10/2016 18:39

I blame the CPS.This case has benefitted no one.The poor woman who didn't even want to press charges has been dragged through the mud, rape victims will be discouraged from coming forward, a man now known to be not guilty has done 2 years jail time and lost 5 years of his life, and the tax payer has spent god knows how much on this three ring circus.
What a shower!

LuluJakey1 · 16/10/2016 18:39

The point is that it is the attitude of men like Evans and his grubby mates and their football clubs that is at the root of this case. He thinks he can take advantage of any woman, whatever state she is in. He is like Trump. The football club he is playing for is a disgrace- they should be condemnng this behaviour from footballers, not rejoicing a not guilty verdict that follows a woman's sexual choices being revealed in court and a victim who was humiliated and threatened by Evan's and his family and friends.

Marbleheadjohnson · 16/10/2016 18:41

The two witnesses were not strangers. She did not have a history of sex with strangers.

Isitadoubleentendre · 16/10/2016 18:42

Twitter is a funny old place. I have never posted on there, its way too public but I do like a good read.

Steve Brookstein is obsessed with this case and defending Ched Evans. He has openly labelled the complainant a 'slut', 'whore' and 'cheap tart'. I get that he is a total nobody but he still appears to make music and has an album out. Maybe he is trying to appeal to the misogynist demographic to flog records. Its most odd. Sharon Osbourne was right about him all those years ago!

Then David Walsh, who I really respected after he got loads of shit trying to expose Lance Armstrong, was plugging his interview with Evans with a very sympathetic tweet, so he is now on my shit list!

Then Rizzlekicks, who are made up of two young lads, have posted a fantastic little bit on how they feel about the case, completely nailing what a lot of people on here feel - good for them!

And Charlie webster, who resigned as patron of sheff Utd over Evans, has also made it clear that she won't be apologising just because he has been found not guilty.

Tarla · 16/10/2016 18:42

But the other two witnesses only came forward after the details from the original CE trial were made public and after a reward was offered. They then, totally coincidentally, corroborated CE's version of events.

If the details about the victim's sexual preferences had not been in the public domain and these two men then described a sexual experience very similar to CE's version of events then it would be more credible that they're possibly telling the truth.

As it is its completely unbelievable that a judge allowed their testimony to be used as part of the defence when that testimony was prejudiced by both potential financial gain and information from other sources (i.e., transcripts of the original trial).
