Hundreds of thousands of people were willing Condemn a innocent man. He was practically forced out of football. This is why we can't play jury from our sofas.

I think it came down to 'rape victims don't act like that so she can't be s rape victim'.

PortiaCastis · 16/10/2016 10:41

Is there a petition I can sign?

Solosolowsoslow · 16/10/2016 10:42

Can he claim damages/compensation for first conviction?Shock

Marbleheadjohnson · 16/10/2016 10:47

I think he can't be awarded loss of earnings unless he can prove beyond reasonable doubt that he is innocent. Which is not the same as prosecution needing to prove beyond reasonable doubt that he is guilty.

Some other thread suggests he is suing his former solicitor, which would be different from miscarriage of justice claims, but I haven't read that myself.

BeyondReasonablyDoubts · 16/10/2016 10:48

Yes, apparently rape victims don't have sex soon after. Clearly they did a lot of reading into this - have a look at the sexual abuse Aibu thread.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 16/10/2016 10:49

Yes he can. And he is apparently thinking of suing Brabners his first solicitors.

Oh and being some sort of educational role model for young footballers.

Ched Evans calls for more education on alcohol and consent

As I understand it, it's unlikely he can get compensation. Following a recent case, the rule is that you only get compensation for wrongful conviction if you can show that the evidence on which you were cleared was so compelling that no conviction could possibly be based upon it. I'd have said that Evans would struggle to meet that criterion.

merrymouse · 16/10/2016 10:51

Compensation is capped at £500,000. This is less than his future father in law spent defending him.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 16/10/2016 10:54

Thank goodness for that Zuleika

So far his suing his solicitors he would have to show no reasonably competent solicitor would have handled the case the way they did ; not getting him off does not meet that test.

ZuleikaDobson · 16/10/2016 10:56

Maybe he's going to say that the original solicitors should have advised him to offer £50K rewards in the hope that a witness will come forward. I doubt that any court is going to find that that would be the advice normally expected. I hope he loses and has to pay hefty costs.

PortiaCastis · 16/10/2016 13:15

Whatever he says he still cheated on his gf !!!!!!!!!!!
He's getting paid by the scummy media and the whole thing is disgusting.
What a fucking hero eh!

Solosolowsoslow · 16/10/2016 13:15

So. What would happen if someone else comes along with say £1m and gathers 'evidence', similar in that it would confirm that Evans has previously enjoyed a gang bang/doggy style sex with an intoxicated person...does that mean another go in the courts? Just saying.

Marbleheadjohnson · 16/10/2016 13:18

Don't think so solo.

I don't even think anything would happen if the two witnesses were found to have been given brand new 50 grand cars by an anonymous benefactor as a Christmas gift.

Solosolowsoslow · 16/10/2016 13:23

Even when you take 'rape' out of it seems unquestionable that a sexual assault has taken place. I cannot identify one bit with the motivations of the haters who are out to condemn the woman. Maybe in their minds - and their social media fantasy world - it makes them a Friend if Chad and they count the likes.

Solosolowsoslow · 16/10/2016 13:24

Friend of chad

Bettersleepoutdoors · 16/10/2016 13:25

I truly don't care about him "cheating" on his girlfriend tbh, and i think it's a red herring. The issue for me is that an unconscious woman was used as a disposable sex object and that, apparently, is not rape. It's so awful.
Must we all tattoo "I don't want to have sex with you unless explicitly stated otherwise" tattooed on our fannies?
That "man" his rvolting girlfriend and all their followers in this matter have behaved despicably.

Solosolowsoslow · 16/10/2016 13:30

New business idea: chastity belt with a built in sensor that locks it when alcohol is partaken and emits piercing alarm if interfered with. Maybe even spurts some dye like those security tags. And has mini video recorder. Only half joking as I don't know what else we can rely onSad

PortiaCastis · 16/10/2016 13:32

Yes I was being sarcastic.

SpecialStains · 16/10/2016 13:35

He had a threesome with a drunk and unconscious woman.

His family offered £50 000 bribes to staff at the hotel for 'new evidence'.

The whole family are scum.

Bettersleepoutdoors · 16/10/2016 13:44

Sorry portia not meaning to direct that at you particulalrly

ageingrunner · 16/10/2016 13:44

I really wouldn't want his peeping tom brother teaching my child Angry

Bettersleepoutdoors · 16/10/2016 13:47

All the Ched Evans verdict shows is that women have no right to bodily autonomy.

ageingrunner · 16/10/2016 13:51

I've just seen on Twitter that a woman has been threatened with rape because she questioned the verdict. They've threatened to go round to her house and rape her. 3 men. These are the kinds of men who support CE. Just utter scum. And this is by no means the only rape threat received by women who dare to disagree that ched is innocent.

PortiaCastis · 16/10/2016 13:52

Its okBetter. I cannot understand why all this bribery has been allowed and how a womans sexual history is allowed.

I also object to the thread title because sofa judgement was and is being given to the victim
