To not want to suffer other people's cats in our own gardens??

They have peed on DP veggies, they have some acidic pee or something that killed strawberries? I do not touch anything that grows in our garden as I am pregnant. Bliming unfair.
One killed mt DD's bunny last year, bunny was about 12 weeks old. Can you imagine DD's heartbreak?? I well up just remembering.
There is one that has made his den in the front garden bushes, the grass around his den is gone and he is there all day.
Yesterday I stood on poo in my own garden.
I am seriously pissed off now!!!

Hermione I am the same - no cat I know can open a door of a hutch! if it's left ajar then it could nudge it open...

50Bales cats' reading and comprehension is excellent these days so I heard...

Iceroad I am Shock at your ignorant arrogant comment. How dare you blame Kione.

I was in the garden with our childrens' rabbits when one of the neighbours cats pounced off the fence where it had been hiding in an overhanging tree branch. It bit through its neck and paralysed it before I could run the 10 feet to stop it. My son is still heartbroken.

We used to have our own cats but after having to put up with the constant cat crap from other people's everywhere and then this we will never have cats again.

I know many people who have very happy indoor cats with no issues at all so please don't spout rubbish about it being cruel.

littlepippip · 14/10/2016 15:59

I just want to point out that I am a responsible cat owner, I only let my cat out when I am in the garden and he stays in my garden and only shits in his litter tray. I get that its not great having cats shitting in the garden but I don't think its anything to obsess over either nor to 'joke' about killing animals that know no better.

JacquesHammer · 14/10/2016 16:03

Next doors cat comes into my house. Wrecks my carpet. Eats my food.

Yeah "cats will be cats".

Owning a cat and letting it wander is supremely selfish unless you live somewhere you're sure your neighbours won't be bothered

FredDibnahsCap · 14/10/2016 16:07

I've just ordered a cat repellant jet sprayer today from eBay after picking up two piles of crap this morning. I'm pregnant too & have a small child. Every morning I have to go out & check the grass before I let my daughter out. It's bloody disgusting there's so many cats around here and they're having a turf war in my garden. If this doesn't work then I'm going to get an Alsatian/put flags down and have a concrete back garden Angry

This post is ridiculous...its almost troll like. Burn in hell ffs.

SuperFlyHigh · 14/10/2016 16:20

ummizoomi

you cannot control a cat - it shits where it wants... you as the owner have no choice over that.

I had 2 cats - 1 the female ALWAYS stayed in my garden, her brother went out of my garden, 1 current cat also goes out of the garden a lot.

water pistols are the best bet or hate to say it a dog - but don't make it attack the cat.

would you have me have my cats as house cats just for your benefit??

SuperFlyHigh · 14/10/2016 16:21

ltoys* - I've reported that comment.

SuperFlyHigh · 14/10/2016 16:22

Jacques you can't control a cat! how does it get into your house? through a cat flap or open door?

if cat flap you CAN as the owner get a flap only your cat can use with magnetic or chip i think.

I8toys · 14/10/2016 16:22

Thanks for letting me know!

chunkymum1 · 14/10/2016 16:23

would you have me have my cats as house cats just for your benefit??

Yes

littlepippip · 14/10/2016 16:24

ummizoomi such a silly sweeping statement! you could say the same about dog owners letting their dogs shit everywhere and hanging their dog poo bags all over the place, but its not all of them is now is it! FredDibnahsCap that sounds like a good idea, I'm sure there are plants you can grow that cats hate the smell of too.

Soubriquet · 14/10/2016 16:27

How can you be 100% certain no foxes are on your island?

They can swim you know?

They have been known to swim to an island where there previously was no foxes, kill a lot of rare birds and then swim home again

bluebeck · 14/10/2016 16:31

These threads are always so pathetic. If you don't like other peoples cats in your garden, you had best move to a country where this is outlawed.

If it wasn't cats it would just be other animals..............I just don't get all the drama.

JacquesHammer · 14/10/2016 16:39

superfly through upstairs windows. Through the door if I leave it open to carry something into my house.

Im afraid I have no sympathy if someone else's pet damages my property: my neighbours should be taking measures. And if it's doing that they should not be allowing it out.

would you have me have my cats a house cats just for your benefit

Yes. You chose to have a pet: I didn't: why on earth is it ok for me to be inconvenienced by your choices

Cats shitting in your garden is a risk you take when you choose to live near to other people.

kali110 · 14/10/2016 16:45

ummizoomi could say the same about dog owners or parents, how lonely must you be, but then i'm not an idiot Grin
We have cats due to twats who decided they no longer wanted their pets.
I've reported several comments, but as usual comments regarding animal abuse are fine.

Mistykit · 14/10/2016 16:47

Ummiz... last time I checked no domestic pet can pick up it's own shit

PickledCauliflower · 14/10/2016 16:49

I'm sorry to hear about your rabbit. They are vunerable to various wildlife (as well as domestic cats). The only way around this, is to have a penned run when they are outdoors unsupervised.
There will always be cats and they will always roam outdoors (it would be cruel to keep them indoors). Owners cannot stop them from going into neighbours gardens. I'm sorry - but there is no way around this.

ummizoomi · 14/10/2016 16:50

Btw y are people comparing cats to foxes and badges? There are culling programs to sort out the foxes 'nuisance'. It's also a sport to hunt down foxes and cull them. That's okay is it?

But cats who are also a nuisance to people, who didn't make the decision to own one, should spend lots of money to 'deter' cats from soiling their property? How is that okay? Why can't the cat owners put up cat fencing? Cos it's gonna cost them money so sod the neighbours and the poor babies or pregnant woman who can't enjoy their garden because cat reign supreme.

This is a complete farce!

SuperFlyHigh · 14/10/2016 16:52

Jacques as most cats can't open windows then you must be leaving them open enough so they can get in...

how am I inconveniencing you by having a pet that chooses to roam? if anything you should be thankful as cats kill rodents that could choose to make your property their home!

Uumi - most cat owners have a litter tray as well as letting out go out. If I could climb the fence into my neighbours garden and pick his shit up i would. another offence comment! No not lonely thanks!

Soubriquet · 14/10/2016 16:53

I fully disagree with fox hunting and badger baiting

If you have to cull foxes and badgers, do it in a more humane way instead of having a pack of dogs rip them to shreds.

SuperFlyHigh · 14/10/2016 16:53

uumi - also cat fencing would be pointless - cats climb you know - they're descended from wild cats, lions etc... all good climbers.
