I treat myself to an electric blanket.

Now, I will clarify that I don't know what 'that age' is but I feel that my excitement over my new electric under blanket probably means I have reached it!

How did you reach 'that age'?

So you've been thinking about gold sandals?? Wink

EtTuTuttiFrutti · 04/10/2016 20:13

When you start talking about your bowels. Thankfully it's only my DH at the moment, but it's only a matter of time before I start discussing my bum in shops with totally random strangers.

I could rock that dress

KatieScarlett · 04/10/2016 20:14

Are you going to Vegas? A cruise, maybe?
If so, gold sandals would be just the ticket. Summery.

bibbitybobbityyhat · 04/10/2016 20:15

I'm really looking forward to annual Christmas shopping trip with my 2 local besties - this year to a posh garden centre and lunch Grin.

I've got an awful lot of dry prunings in my relatively large London garden and have been discussing with dh this year how I could have a discreet bonfire under cover of darkness. My mother (lives Hampshire) always adored bonfires as did her mother before her. HELLLPPP!

WontLetThoseRobotsDefeatMe · 04/10/2016 20:17

OP I'm committing the Mnet sin of only reading your post but I have to reply -

My boyfriend -of a couple of months - put his leccy blanket on at the weekend. Oh how I laughed. And then, snuggled myself and promptly fell asleep!

LaurieF · 04/10/2016 20:17

My son had to show me how to use my new phone. just to make me feel slightly better I had switched from iPhone to android which is a big change! I also refuse to listen to radio 1 and don't like going out on a Friday or Saturday night unless it's somewhere with a sofa, strictly come Dancing and my own wine!!

MrsGuyOfGisbo · 04/10/2016 20:25

Laurie
same here - have inherited Ds's iphone

Beautifullymixed · 04/10/2016 20:25

This is my home here Grin

New bloke says romantically, after 'ahem'
business has finished, that he could get used to being with me, and cuddling up.

I thought not!
It's electric blanket season, cup of tea and catching up with walking dead in bed time.
Add a couple of biscuits and I'm in heaven.

I also sleep with sponge rollers in too, gives me a lovely bouncy curl, and as an insomniac, also wear earplugs and a sleep mask to bed. Not a sexy look at all.
But at least I wake up looking presentable.
This night time attire is my closely guarded secret. BlushBlush

Nakatomi · 04/10/2016 20:29

Beautifullymixed

My nighttime attire is a onesie, hair rollers, face cream and a nasal strip. No wonder we've never had kids!

Having said that, DP's attire of a Liverpool football top, jogging bottoms and a beanie hat in bed is hardly sexy attire either.

I bought some Gold Saltwater sandals on a recommendation from MN style a beauty threads this summer!! .. ( love them!!)
Is this it?

Nakatomi · 04/10/2016 20:33

EtTuTuttiFrutti

I have to tell my DP that it's not appropriate to be discussing his colonoscopy when we go to a party. We've turned into those couples you see on postcards in Blackpool...

KatieScarlett · 04/10/2016 20:35

Lovely! And so comfy looking!

Tapandgo · 04/10/2016 20:36

I bought one years ago when I worked out I could keep the room cool while still having a warm bed. ( bliss)
I don't have one now as this new house is so warm I cannot ever see the need for one.

MaQueen · 04/10/2016 20:38

laska I hate to be the one to tell you...but I think those naughty Misses on S&B were winding you up...

Nakatomi · 04/10/2016 20:39

There's an easy test. Does something like this appeal to you? If so, it might be too late...

I know I have reached 'that age' when
KatieScarlett · 04/10/2016 20:41

YOU CAN BUY THAT??????
I've been rolling up a pillow for YEARS!!
How did I not know that was a thing?
My tricky left hip thanks you.

Nakatomi · 04/10/2016 20:43

Mine was the same, it has been a lifesaver! They're just called knee pillows I think, I got mine out of a catalogue that came with the paper. Best £9 I ever spent!

Beautifullymixed · 04/10/2016 20:44

Nakatomi I often have on a comfy, faded cotton nighty to match the rest of my 'look'.
I often wear socks too, with thick cream underneath for smooth feet.
I always pray that there's not a fire in the night!

My dcs do not bat an eyelid at my attire, and as I've been a single parent for many years, no man has been allowed to view this stunning look. But, by gosh, I'm comfy.

mmwth3kds · 04/10/2016 20:46

I am going to be 50 this year but still everyone treats me either like a child or an imbecile! They always say how young I look and that is not a compliment anymore but a curse. I I just want to look my age and treated with more respect now that I have experience of 50 years behind.
Today at the butchers, when he greeted me what can I get you young lady?
I just wanted to shout out WTF we are most probably at the same age or I am older... I just want to reach that age honestly not to feel old but to feel the present myself!!!

Laska5772 · 04/10/2016 20:47

nakatomi no its ok .. I am saved.. (What is that for exactly? )

maqueen , no really, look up Saltwater sandals on S&B .. they have been considered the doggs dooda's the last couple of summers .. ( really comfy , true, but lots of people -young ones even - at work liked them .. so sorry , It must be you !!! )

KatieScarlett · 04/10/2016 20:49

Nakatomi, you know what this means?
Remember when you got the paper and laughed at the supplement with the no-iron slacks, flowery upholstery, slip on loafers (brown) and the Miss Mary of Sweden lingerie collection?
That's right. We are now the key demographic of the senior section.

MaQueen · 04/10/2016 20:51

It probably is me laska I followed my Mum into the Classics section in M&S recently. She pronounced it 'too old' (she's 74...) Whereas I was quite taken with a cardi in there...

Laska5772 · 04/10/2016 20:55

Oh yes the Miss Mary of Sweden lingerie - actually though that was probably some kind of, you know, ..gear, for certain types

Nakatomi · 04/10/2016 20:56

I used to laugh when I saw elasticated waist trousers. Now they are at the top of my list.

I used to laugh at my grannie's shopping bag and now I have several nice ones. To be fair, at least I can blame this on the 5p bag charge and not being old...

Went into M&S with a friend over the weekend. We both agreed they'd gone too "trendy" (!!!) so we went to Bon Marche instead and found loads of stuff. Sigh.
