Oh my friggin god it's cold. Feels like Antarctica in here. Honestly, think Olaf my new tenant!

Kids room monitor says 21 DC? Surely that's incorrect. I mean, I can't be that old that I'm feeling the cold already?

Please tell me others have the heating on in these subzero (OK, slight exaggeration there) temperatures that is the north today? Grin

Our thermostat is set at 20 degrees and has only triggered the heating on once so far. I have been tempted to put it up to 21 degrees because it feels way colder but have resisted so far. I'm currently sat studying in the kitchen where the tumble dryer is keeping the room warm.

I'm in the south. I've had the fire on a few times, for an hour or so when downstairs felt damp cold. I have a heavy cold right now so put the heating on, on Monday but we were all sweating by bedtime. It's turned back off again, and provided no one else gets ill, I will try to hold off putting it on again for a few more weeks. I find it's on constantly in January, so if I can eek it out until close to November now, that would help the bills!

I do also have one of those clever boilers the pp mentioned, but 've got it switched to the 'off' setting for the heating right now.

Heating stays off until you can see your breath indoors.
Any more and you destroy the planet, spoil your childrens future.

I've found my electric over blanket. Heaven.

SNschoolquery · 06/10/2016 22:21

London. No heating yet but am in bed with my hottie

TwentyCups · 06/10/2016 22:33

My electric blanket has been on but not the heating. Try and never put the heating on really, and only have radiators used in living room and bedroom and bathroom, all others are permanently off.
This is from being scarily poor in the past, and also a bit of an eco warrior.

I've got everything set to 'on' but the thermostat is set to 15, so I can say I have the heating on but my environmentally-friendly conscience is satisfied because it actually doesn't come on!

tristerflexu · 06/10/2016 22:46

Mine got turned up from 0-20 yesterday. It stays on constant now until about April / may and clicks on and off when it drops below 20

goose1964 · 06/10/2016 23:02

I've got a fleece on and a duvet over me, had to fight DD for it earlier. DH is happy in an icebox

maisiejones · 07/10/2016 10:28

I really don't get this. I'm chilly so it's on. I don't bother about the date. I just want to feel comfortable in my own home.

Googlebabe · 07/10/2016 13:50

The heating is normally on from August to May. This is a record year - putting it on in October. It never gets switched off.
There is something really wrong in the UK if people cannot pay for their heating... :( Is this a first world or a third world country, remind me?...

daisypond · 07/10/2016 14:23

No heating on. It's warm - London. I'm still not wearing a coat or jacket when I go out.

MumiTravels · 07/10/2016 14:29

I'm in the North of England and no heating on. Don't even know where my thermostat is. Moved house.

We still have our bedroom window open all night. DS has a little oil radiator on one bar in his bedroom.

We both have 'house jumpers' - you know ugly but very practical teddy bear fleece hiking jumpers.

Heating doesn't go on until you've got long johns, socks, a top and a jumper and you're still cold.

It's a mid terrace though im between two old dears so doubt I'll need my own heating on this winter Grin

Sallystyle · 07/10/2016 14:33

My heating is on all year. It clicks on when it gets below 18c.

It's come on a few times this week.

myusernamewastaken · 07/10/2016 15:12

I have oil central heating so i try to put the heating on only when we are really cold....we are in Norfolk and it is still fairly mild here.

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 07/10/2016 15:14

I'm in the south east and put the heating on yesterday

Currently on £73. a week. I can't afford it. But hey, the benefits bill is way too high!
