Anyone seen this "quiz" in the telegraph - aside from the fact that it is probably just to flog certain items, anyone agree with this list or come out with all of them.

Hot tubs ffs? "vulgar" no? Wink

Well, I scored 2 on the MC quiz, but I just did the Telegraph poshness quiz and apparently I'm an "out-and-out U" despite the Estuary accent.

PoppyBirdOnAWire · 29/09/2016 10:41

If you grew up on a council estate or spent any time living there, you cannot be middle class.

CousinCharlotte · 29/09/2016 10:42

I scored 0, I'm clearly a working class peasant Hmm

Mozfan1 · 29/09/2016 10:43

poppy both my parents are middle class from St. Albans and I now live in a council flat. What does that make me?

liletsthepink · 29/09/2016 10:45

I have none of these things yet I consider myself solidly middle class.

Some of those items fall into the 'more money than sense' catagory which means the owners have no class at all!

CousinCharlotte · 29/09/2016 10:45

I've just done the posh test and I'm common as muck Grin

Teahornet · 29/09/2016 10:49

Well, based on what William Whatsit says elsewhere about the irredeemable awfulness of coasters, I assume that in this quiz you lose middle-class points if you admit to owning some...?

BarbaraofSeville · 29/09/2016 10:50

Why not?

Class is not the same as money.

Council estates used to be much more aimed at low income working families rather than a centre of deprivation.

Many manual workers would earn similar or higher wages than nurses and teachers, so you could equally all sorts of people to live there.

Does it make a difference if the person buys an ex council house rather than rents it?

Mozfan1 · 29/09/2016 10:52

Barbara I agree. Council housing has nothing to do with it. I grew up in a rich part of town, now live in a council flat. Fuck knows what 'class' I am, Lord knows I don't really care... I think Poppy was being goady. The type that drives round to avoid the council estates Wink

Oblomov16 · 29/09/2016 10:56

Smart tv and bbq? Doesn't everyone?
Not sure what the criteria for middle class actually IS, according tot he telegraph!? Hmm

shovetheholly · 29/09/2016 11:01

I have never owned a barbeque! I do not see the point of them??

BlancheBlue · 29/09/2016 11:02

oblomov probably reading the telegraph

Ego147 · 29/09/2016 11:02

I built my own BBQ out of bricks.

My TV is massively heavy and big- but it's got a box attached that makes it quite smart.

We go camping in France for our holidays.

PresidentOliviaMumsnet · 29/09/2016 11:04

I think the point is - if you are doing a quiz about class, you must be middle class :D

KitKats28 · 29/09/2016 11:04

Oh look Poppy is on yet another thread telling everyone they are common. From finger nails to log burners eh?

Mozfan1 · 29/09/2016 11:06

Kit I think we're all working class shit houses in the eyes of Poppy Wink

PoppyBirdOnAWire · 29/09/2016 11:06

Oh. Do I have my very own stalker?

BlancheBlue · 29/09/2016 11:06

olivia please can you do a mn version?

OP posts:
Dollius01 · 29/09/2016 11:17

Definitely country use with the Landrover and my wood burner is the real deal. So why don't I count as MC??

BreconBeBuggered · 29/09/2016 11:18

So, I'm not MC according to Poppy, as I live on a council estate. The Telegraph agrees, on the basis of my rejection of spiralisers and hot tubs

I am MC according to Olivia as I did the quiz

I'm very much U according to the next Telegraph poshness quiz.

It's all bollocks/meant to be a bit of fun. Bit worrying that some of us get so het up about it.

Mozfan1 · 29/09/2016 11:18

No pops, bullshit just has a very potent smell that's all.

BarbaraofSeville · 29/09/2016 11:19

We use our Land Rover to pull our caravan, what does that say about us?

Dollius01 · 29/09/2016 11:22

Ooh Babs, that IS a conundrum!

BarbaraofSeville · 29/09/2016 11:23

Well their tests could at least be consistent - the posh test tells me I am middle class and the middle class do you have a dyson one tells me I am not Confused.

BarbaraofSeville · 29/09/2016 11:24

Well I think that concludes matters. I am truely classless.
