Nothing worse than biting into a burger to find a hidden gherkin!

Why do they use them? Do they hate us?!

Can take or leave them. I just swallow them in a big gulp and try not to taste them, same as I do to the yolk in a sausage and egg mcmuffin.

I hate gherkins on their own but a couple of chopped ones in a burger is quite nice. I know, I'm weird

I'm with you they are vile.

I have spawned two children who love them which is weird. They ask for extras and have mine!

I hate them! And the flavour goes through any food they touch.

We lived in America for a while and I could always tell when they forgot I'd ordered my meal with no pickle spear. They'd take it off leaving a pool of pickle juice soaking into the sandwich.

If I ever have a Subway, I ask for loads of gherkins on and then pick them all off and eat them as a sort of starter before eating the sandwich.

Are they good gherkins ? Like proper Krakus ones with dill ? If so, I might one day venture through the golden portal.

YANBU. I usually have chicken at McD's but if I have a burger I order it without all the gherkin and other bits.

The reason that they put them in Big Macs is that in the USA unless they added it or similar the sugar ration was so high that the FSA would classify them as a sweet/desert.

When I was growing up I hated gherkins with the power of a thousand suns. Then when I was mid twenties I missed one that was hidden in a Big Mac sauce.. and realised I bloody loved them Shock. Best bit of a burger now for me!

When we recently went to Germany, we accidentally found ourselves in a place that celebrates itself as the World's Gherkin Capital.

DH was delighted. I wasn't (though the chocolate cake did make up for it).

You gherkin haters do know, don't you, that you can ask at McDonalds for a "plain" (thems the magic words) cheeseburger or whatever, and not only do you get it without the gherkins, its usually cooked fresh for you, so you get it nice n hot. Just saying.
