AIBU?

COULD MY HOUSE HAVE A GHOST?

Since last year I have had strange going ons in my house. For example - seeing things out of the corner of my eyes, a quick glimpse of ghost child, a white sort of apparition walking around my bed at night when I was trying to get to sleep and something white being thrown in my direction and when I look to pick it up it is not there.

Could I be imagining these things?

I can tell you that ghosts do exist as I have seen one. My grandmothers house was rumoured to be haunted by the ghost of a young girl that died in Victorian times. Many people over the years had heard strange noises in that house, little footsteps that ran up and down a staircase through the night, door handles that turned by them selves, furniture being moved when there was no one in the room. I ran up said staircase one night and came face to face with a little girl that stared at me and disappeared. It was 25 years ago and thinking about it makes the hairs on back of arms stand up even now!!

Ghosts do not exist.

Yes, you could be imagining these things.

MN doesn't believe in ghosts, which is why you think posters are being Meehan.

Get a proper posting name.

If there are actually ghosts in your house, none of us could actually confirm it.

Well I believe you! I think you do have a ghost, it is a very pained spirit and it needs you to set it free.

Do you have a child going through puberty. I know someone whose so. Was going through adolescence and throughout that time. They had a poltergeist, and people can mock but. He was as straight laced as they come, so he definitely wasn't lying

I'm quite new here and (genuinely) a little confused. Last week I really enjoyed the 'woo' creepy stories thread which ran to many pages and suggested lots of people had unexplainable experiences - why is this post not being greeted with the same glee?

All the woo-ers are at their Tuesday night seance. Obvs.

Seriously though, no such thing as ghosts.

Anything someone sees at their beside can be pretty much be ignored as a hypnagogic or hypnopompic hallucination. Unsurprisingly this accounts for about 90% of "ghost" sightings. It is scary if you don't know what's causing it. Sleep paralysis can be utterly terrifying.

We all see things out of the corners of our eyes. The more you pay attention to this the more you will notice it. As PP said, this is just your brain filling in the blanks for you. Was the ghost child just a quick glance and then gone? And the white thing the same?

If you have some long contact, the "ghost" actually talking to you or doing something meaningful (rather than just vanishing) you should see a dr. Schizophrenic hallucination are very real to those that see them and often manifest as either ghosts or demons.

If it really is a ghost (which it isn't because they don't exist) then you should record it and prove its existence and make a bucket load of cash. This won't happen though because it's not a ghost.

Migraines can cause hallucinations. You don't have to have an actual headache.

Ghosts don't exist so I would say no, but if you're worried about hallucinations then I would see a doctor.

There's suspicion around generic usernames because they're hard to distinguish and it's easier to troll. Not that I'm saying you are, but it's far easier to under a random, easily forgettable name.

Agree with Candyocean! There was a very popular woo thread recently with loads of ghost stories, why is this different?

AIBU was probably the wrong place to ask. Get a proper username and search out the Unexplained topic. you might still be mercilessly mocked, but you've got a better chance there than on a topic where the whole point is to come here and argue.

I don't think people who see ghosts are lying, just that they believe what they think they saw. There's no evidence for ghosts or homeopathy or talking to the dead. That said, if it makes you feel better to believe, go ahead, you're not hurting anyone in most cases.
