That's it I'm done, I've tried every shape going all different sauces and I have decided once and for all its crap. All it is is boiled dough and I'm done with it

I can take or leave pasta - if I have it, the sauce has to be fucking delicious!

(And my poor arse regrets the white flour, for days, afterwards. Brown pasta doesn't help because it's fucking revolting.)

NicknameUsed · 26/09/2016 23:25

Most carbs on their own have very little taste though - pasta, rice, polenta, couscous, bulgar wheat, potatoes etc

It's what you serve with it that makes it exciting. You either have very little imagination, or are a rubbish cook.

RortyCrankle · 26/09/2016 23:30

Now I can die happy. I thought i was the only person in the world to hate globules of stuff that tasted of nothing, AKA pasta.

I have a HUGE long list of other foods I won't eat but validation of pasta being utter crap is a good start Grin

PickAChew · 26/09/2016 23:31

Even fucking Check4life won't part me from my red wine!

oldlaundbooth · 27/09/2016 02:00

Pasta's alright.
Celery is terrible though.

I agree with Calzone, all is yummy. There are foods that are not food, but the only thing I would qualify as pointless are desserts. They are almost aways way too sweet, use up so many ingredients to make something I neither like to do, eat and is not even healthy. What a waste of time/money and stomac space.

e1y1 · 27/09/2016 02:50

Noooooooo!

Pasta is amazing, and as mentioned by PP, it's a food of the Gods.

There have been many times where I have eaten a pasta based dish 5 or so times in a week! Blush

Andylion · 27/09/2016 03:07

I want pasta now. This thread has made me hungry.
Also, the potato is a noble, wondrous thing.

Andylion · 27/09/2016 03:09

Just look how happy these potato eaters are.

OlennasWimple · 27/09/2016 03:21

We hardly ever eat potato anymore - it's pasta, rice, lentil-y beany things of various sort... But seldom a spud - they go off and dried things in jars don't Smile

Goat's cheese would be nice if it didn't taste of goat.

Marrow is pointless - tastless and watery. See also pumpkin - it needs so much spice with it, as otherwise it's bland (a nice colour, though)

YABU OP

Because Puttanesca is my favourite meal. Preferably with Arancini and an Arrabiata Sauce to start.

But mostly because you've made me really want to eat Puttanesca at 4AM and it is at least 8 hours before I can eat Puttanesca.

Hrafnkel · 27/09/2016 04:46

Rice is so much nicer and more versatile.

I've no imagination and I'm a rubbish cook apparently, I'll have to tell my family and friends they will be surprised by that!!

Yanbu. I never understand the carbon love on MN. Like someone said above, they are all tasteless, dull things that need loads of stuff added to them to make them edible.

Pasta is something to hang a sauce on. Fresh pasta is preferable.

BertieBotts · 27/09/2016 06:47

Carb love

Msqueen33 · 27/09/2016 06:47

Gluten free pasta (two kids have coeliac) utterly awful!

DiJiBiDi · 27/09/2016 06:54

How can one not like rice?! It's life
I would eat it with everything if I can

I don't understand how people don't wash their rice...how do you see the cooking rice through all that starch?

You've got to wash the rice till the water is clear and let it soak for 30 mins THEN cook it

Give rice some love

sonlypuppyfat · 27/09/2016 07:02

I like rice

"I don't understand how people don't wash their rice...how do you see the cooking rice through all that starch?"

I don't usually wash rice. I buy Tilda basmati rice and it cooks to perfection. I CBA with all the faffing around. I do with sushi rice though because it does need a lot more attention. I don't wash risotto rice or Thai Jasmine rice either, or pudding rice.

Oysterbabe · 27/09/2016 18:34

My 9 month old loves pasta more than anything, shovels it in with both hands.

madein1995 · 27/09/2016 18:42

I love my carbs but it makes all the difference what they're served with - plain pasta or plain rice or boiled potato, no thank you. Roasties on a roast - lush, pasta in a decent sauce - yum, rice with peppers and salt added is lovely and quite healthy. I tend to need carbs to get full and stay full - a chicken salad wouldn't fill me, but chicken and rice probably would.

bibbitybobbityyhat · 27/09/2016 18:44

Prefer rice to pasta, but we are having pasta tonight (with garlic mushrooms and peas and philadelphia & creme fraiche sauce topped with whole roasted cherry tomatoes).

Cucumbers - fuck off
Oysters - fuck the fuck off
Goats cheese - meh
Polenta - fuck the fuck off to the far side of fuck
