AIBU to think pasta is the world's most pointless food

That's it I'm done, I've tried every shape going all different sauces and I have decided once and for all its crap. All it is is boiled dough and I'm done with it

I like everything - especially red wine. I eat pasta but would never choose it as it doesn't excite me and fills me up too quickly. Excellent for students though.

Celery. Why?

WhisperingWind · 29/09/2016 23:34

I adore wholewheat pasta with a tomato and chilli pesto, toasted pine nuts and loads of grated cheese (and frozen peas). YABU

Galdos · 30/09/2016 07:15

Bunny, celery is simply for the crunch factor. It's cellulose, and indigestible, so has no nutritional value (save possibly from any insects hiding inside).

All food is lovely - where would we be without it? I draw the line at things like witchety grubs, and fried ants, but that's cultural. Out of UK mainstream foods, I view marrow with some disdain (childhood memories), and there's plenty of stuff I wouldn't cross the street for - but never eat? Nah.

a birthday lasagne - brilliant! Who are you, Garfield?

Literally weeping :)

shirleyknotanotherbot · 30/09/2016 09:07

Celery is very useful to add flavour to many recipes.

Oysterbabe · 30/09/2016 10:46

If the flavour you're hoping to add is piss.

Goldenhandshake · 30/09/2016 12:42

Oysterbabe Star

Celery gives a nice savoury base to food

I tried adding some celery to a casserole type dish recently - like all the best TV chefs do, and the best recipes too I'm sure.

But there was uproar Grin

Amalfimamma · 30/09/2016 17:42

Finely chopped carrots, onion and celery are the base of about 80% of any dish I cook. I have a tupperware tub full in the freezer...........and if chopped finely enough it "evaporates" in sauces, casseroles and stews

Comtesse · 30/09/2016 21:18

No pasta? No red wine? Nor Goats cheese? Not coming round your place for dinner! YABVU - these are all lovely!

Lasagne birthday cake is an amazing idea......

Rrross1ges · 30/09/2016 22:52

"COOK boiling dough doesn't make you a top chef!!"
For most of us pasta phobes it's as much the texture as the taste. That boggy, gloopy, slithery, sticky, throat-clogging awfulness that even a sauce of unicorn spunk and panda pubes cannot fix.

CoolToned · 30/09/2016 23:06

For me, it's that I feel it's a waste of carbs when I could be having multi-grain bread, or even more enjoyable carbs like cake instead of pasts. But I might be an aberration.

Artichoke is the ultimate pointless food.

Allalonenow · 01/10/2016 19:59

No, artichoke isn't pointless it's an excuse to eat a bowlful of lovely garlic mayonnaise, now cherry tomatoes they really are pointless, nothing but skin and pips.

JugglingFromHereToThere · 03/10/2016 11:10

Grilled artichoke is also one of my favourite things on a pizza.
