AIBU?

...to ask what your "ideal" weight is?

If you're 5ft 5 or 5ft 6ins?

I'm 5ft 5.5 (the half is important to me!!) and have been losing weight since the birth of DC2 seven months ago, in a bid to get back to normal. Thing is, I can't decide where to stop.

I hit my goal weight recently but I don't feel like I'm "done." I still have excess fat on my tummy and legs, but don't know if I'm normal, a bit chubby or over critical.

So, what is your ideal weight if you're the same height as me? Where do you feel happiest?

FWIW, I'm average build, size 7 feet, big boobs, and pretty active.

5ft 5 My ideal weight is between 9st 4 and 9st 7. Currently 9st 12 and feeling uncomfortable, knickers feeling tight and waistbands snug. this is my warning weight and signs to get back down again. Lower than 9st 4 and I look a bit gaunt and lose my boobs!!

I'm only 5'2" and 10st 10, size 14ish at the mo. Feel fab. I would like to loose a bit more, but I'm happy eating like a pig, jogging a couple of times a week for exercise and staying a consistent weight without trying to hard. I've lost over 2st recently and very chuffed with that but was hard work, time for break from watching what I eat for a while. At some point I might make another effort to loose another stone and get into the 'healthy' BMI bracket.
I do have 34H boobs though so I recon they're a stone each just in themselves ;-)

I'm a flipping hobbit - 5 foot 1. Been working hard and watching my food and have lost 5 kg over the last 6 months and am at my fighting weight of 47 kg. I'm a 6-8 - fairly broad shoulders.

I'm 5'4" and would be happy just to be 10st. Underactive thyroid and transplant medication makes that nearly impossible though. Losing weight, very slowly though.

Thanks toffeeboffin :) The toned arms are thanks to salsa. That's the dance obviously, not the spicy sauce.

I am 5'5 and 9 stone 7. That's right in the middle of the "normal" weight range for my height.

I would prefer to be 9 stone. Why? Well because I have skinny arms and legs so although I sound slim when you read the numbers I do have a bit of a belly and my boobs are too big IMO. Half a stone would come off those two places (it has in the past) and I'd be happier. I would prefer to be in proportion. Eg I would be happy to be 10 stone if that extra stone was distributed evenly over my entire body.

Good point balloon It's not about the weight you are it's about your frame and how it carries the weight. I have quite a petite frame at 5ft 5 , slightly pear shaped, small waist but I have boobs and hips and over 10st I feel far too heavy. But I have friends who are larger framed and just a bit taller and they look slimmer than me when they are 10.5st.

This thread has been a kick up the bum for me!
Been sitting around 11.4-11.8st for ages wearing a size 12-14 and forever wishing to be 10-10.7st (ideally 10st) I've crept up now to just over 12st now and I'm starting to feel awful.

I'm now on day 3 of my new food regime, I never stick to anything but this time I really want too! Just cutting out snacking initially and being mindful what goes into my mouth!

As a young adult I was about 9.7-10st and very happy there, about a size 10, small 12.

I'm 5ft 5.5 and people are often shocked I weigh what I do! This time I'm going to try a lot harder.... Anyone want to join me?

I'm 5'5, my ideal weight is around 10 stone/64kg. I'm busty and carry a lot of muscle. I'm currently 74kg 6 months postpartum, struggling to lose weight while at home on maternity leave and I hate it, I feel disgusting having to wear size 14s.

I'm 5ft 5 and about 10st 10.
Size 6 feet, big boobs (32h) I'm fairly muscular due to weights but would like to drop 10llds. Problem is that makes my body look better but ages my face terribly.
I'll keep my tummy Angry

Oh and I'm 44 and size 12 usually. Occasionally a 10 in certain shops.

I'm also 5ft 5.5 and currently 14st 6lb, which is clearly not ideal. When I had DS2 I got down to about 11st 7lb which was fine, and I'm happy with that, however my 'ideal' would probably be about 10st 7lb. or a bit less.

Weight is meaningless. Concentrate on losing body fat and building lean muscle tissue. If you do that you could end up smaller, but heavier. One of my friends started weight training and went from a size 12 to a size 8, but actually gained a couple of pounds.

RhodaBorrocks - interesting I'm 5 ft 4 and a half and got an underactive thyroid too.

steadily been increasing in weight for past few years - a stone in the last year.

My previous job/s I did short quick walks of eg 10 and 20 minutes in total (morning and evening) and ran around more (up and stairs, getting general office supplies etc) - I certainly was more active.

Now I'm on granola and yogurt for breakfast etc not very healthy... I do walk 25 minutes in the morning to and from stations and try to do same back but cut it down to 10-12 minutes evening as I'm lazy...

Planning to try soup and ryvita for lunch with fruit, and porridge with berries for breakfast etc... I think that may help me lose weight, maybe add a yogurt to lunch too.

5 ft 1
Ideal weight (to me) 8 st 2. but not been there for many years.
I am totally top heavy with ridiculous boobs and whilst I have the money l am so scared of surgery have never gone there.

For now 8st 7 would be amazing.

I'm 5ft 5, jweigh 8st12ish, tbh my ideal to me is a good half stone lighter but I am stick of the diet and binge thing. I dieted (lo carbed in the summer) and lost a few pounds but they have gone back on now. Trying to work on accepting this new ideal, DH doesn't ever say anything negative which is good. At the moment eating a bit too much but trying to get out of the whole food mentaility plus craving stodge with the weather changing and the usual time famine. I am quite small framed (28E bust) with biggish feet (6 or 7 which is a bit wierd). Interesting how we are all so different.

I'm 5ft 6 and down to 10st 11 from 13st I feel much healthier now. Ive never really been smaller than this so would like to get down to 130lbs (using the suggested theory that 100lbs for first 5ft and 5lbs for each inch after would put me at a healthy weight for my height)

Report
snapcrap · 29/09/2016 07:10

I'm 5'2 and 9 stone 2 which is good for me, I would be going hungry if I went below 9 stone which is obviously not healthy.

I have been up to 10 stone many times and while I felt a bit miserable and frustrated with myself, I still looked fine.

I do think we all obsessed by the numbers on the scale. As my personal trainer says, scales are just a tool. There are so many other things that matter when achieving a good, healthy body. Since I've been lifting weights I've lost a lot of weight but moreover I'm feeling great and my shape is nicer, I'm more toned which is more important.

Sanity I had a breast reduction 15 years ago, really was the best thing I've ever done (except for having my three lovely kids of course!). It's a very successful operation.
