Cope at being up this time on a Sunday morning?

I'm a snarling, feral subhuman until I've had at least 2 cups. Brew

Caffeine makes me really, really strung out and Ill. If I drank coffee in the mornings I'd be a jibbering wreck.

dietcokeandwine · 25/09/2016 14:59

Diet Coke. Nice cold Diet Coke first thing, and I'm happy as anything.

And you don't have to faff around boiling the kettle Grin

madein1995 · 25/09/2016 15:03

Nice cup of tea in the mornings - milky with 2 sugars Grin I will drink coffee if I need to wake myself u (eg hungover or up very early) but other than that I'm more of a tea drinker

madein1995 · 25/09/2016 15:06

I do make my coffee quite strong when I have it though - 2 teaspoons as opposed to the 1 most people have. When I used to pull all nighters in uni to do work I used to put about 5 teaspoons in each mug (heavily sweetened with sugar) and it kept me awake all night so I could do my work. After a few mugs was a feeling not dissimilar to being tipsy though - I don't do that very often Smile

I wish I could sleep on a Sunday Morning. If I'm completely knackered (many days in a row of disturbed sleep) then I might manage to stay in bed and doze a bit until 8am, otherwise I'm wide awake from 6am 7 days a week.

I gave up caffeine 5 years ago when I was pregnant and it made me nauseous. Now, if I drink two cups of normal tea in a row it makes me shaky! I never drank coffee though.

When I used to drink normal tea regularly I was definitely aware of a very low level addiction - the feeling of 'needing' a cup of tea as opposed to wanting one. I'd hate to have the full-blown, can't function without it, kind of feeling.

StrawberryQuik · 25/09/2016 15:20

mmmm yummy coffee...

Was on holiday in Italy last week and had a frothy cappuccino every morning and a lovely espresso after most lunches.

(and am breastfeeding, DS is fiiine)

Happyhippy45 · 25/09/2016 15:26

I used to be completely addicted to coffee. 20 cups a day to cope with being a chef I a busy restaurant. Then 2-3 beers to get to sleep.
Stopped both when pregnant.
Gradually built up to 3 a day.
Pregnant with dc2 so stopped again.
Then I was 2 cups first thing in the morning, any more I'd feel like crap.
Then suddenly I couldn't stand coffee so switched to tea (still only 2 cups)
Now I have a condition that means I cannot have any caffeine or sugar
3 months I've gone now. I miss the sugar more than the caffeine tbh.
Nice cup of herbal tea for me in the morning. I only feel slightly pious that I am not addicted to caffeine anymore. I feel so much better for it too.

TemporarilyLost · 25/09/2016 15:37

I can't stand coffee, it makes me shake. Strong tea is my fuel but I can go without any caffeine easily. I never feel the 'I must have a caffeine shot before I take on the world' thing.

luckiestgirl · 25/09/2016 15:40

Chocolate.

isittimeforcoffee · 25/09/2016 15:41

I drink a ridiculous amount of coffee (hence the username!) and tea - probably one an hour when I'm awake. I can;t even think of my name before I have coffee in the morning, let alone function on any sort of human level!

MrsMook · 25/09/2016 16:05

Coffee is gross.
Tea is gross.

Most days I'll have water. If I'm doing a tough exercise session without digestion time then I might have hi-juice squash/ fruit juice or occasionally a red bull for a quick sugar fix to fuel me.

I've got into fruit teas in recent years which are good for warning up. Occasionally I'll behave a weak green tea mixed with a lemon teabag. I like hot chocolate, but unfortunately can only buy dairy free.

DH isn't bothered about coffee and because I don't touch it he never drinks it at home. For years, he's been awful at dredging himself out of bed on weekend mornings and was frequently headachy. It turns out that he was addicted to the several cups of coffee that appeared on his desk throughout the day at work. Since making the connection and switching for decaf, he's been much better company and goes to bed better in the week. Years of ruined weekend mornings because of a yucky drink! Hmm Wink

Beebeeeight · 25/09/2016 17:11

Tea I need one cup first thing to get going.

MaddyHatter · 25/09/2016 17:22

i never used to drink coffee, i HATED it, then someone introuced me to Caramel Latte and i am a changed woman..

TBH, i used to just inform people to NOT SPEAK TO ME until around 9.30 am as i only communicated in glares.

Tea sometimes helped... and bacon.

WigelsPigels · 25/09/2016 17:27

Been drinking decaf coffee for a long time. Drink coffee because I like it. Hate extremely strong coffee.

bananafish81 · 25/09/2016 17:31

Don't like tea or coffee

Love the smell of coffee, love coffee flavoured things, think I ought to like coffee, but try it every now and then to check I don't like it, and I don't

If I'm meeting someone for coffee I'll have a herbal tea of some kind

But don't really drink hot drinks otherwise. Drink sparkling water, and my vice is diet coke. Although while TTC that's now an occasional treat

MarklahMarklah · 25/09/2016 17:32

Tea. A strong cup. Or eight.

StealthPolarBear · 25/09/2016 17:35

Black coffee for me but instant and quite weak. I need something warm and soothing more than I need caffeine.
diet coke if hungover :)

StealthPolarBear · 25/09/2016 17:36

Banana have you tried it black? Milky coffee seems to be the default but it makes me retch.

RebootYourEngine · 25/09/2016 17:38

I am up at 4.30am every morning. I dont wake up feeling like i need anything.

Cravingdairy · 25/09/2016 17:39

You don't miss what you've never had!

[Sugar]

Peanutbutterpussycat · 25/09/2016 17:41

I'm 38 and have never touched coffee in my life, been up since 5.30 and I manage with tea and diet coke!

KC225 · 25/09/2016 17:48

Pepsi max for me too. Ice cold

bananafish81 · 25/09/2016 17:50

Stealth yes - the only way I've found I like black coffee is in an espresso martini! Grin

I think I just have a really sweet tooth - I find it too bitter

Though re diet coke when hungover - for me it's always a can of fat Coke - aka the little red ambulance!

HmmmmBop · 25/09/2016 17:55

Yoga.

At the other end of the day though diet coke!

Herschellmum · 25/09/2016 17:56

Chocolate ... Ginger and apple "shots" work too. Plus a shower helps too.
