Cope at being up this time on a Sunday morning?

I'm a snarling, feral subhuman until I've had at least 2 cups. Brew

I'm a morning person.

It genuinely baffles me that people seem to need coffee to do anything at all. Such a weird dependency.

SabineUndine · 25/09/2016 08:54

I don't get coffee till I'm at work on weekdays and the prospect of coffee is what gets me to work.

NeedMoreSleepOrSugar · 25/09/2016 08:54

I love good coffee but never drink it first thing. We're usually up by six thanks to the dd-alarmclock calling "mummymummymummy" a soon as its amything less than pitch black!

Narnian · 25/09/2016 08:55

I make a huge pot of tea and drink my way through it.

I used to need 4 cups of coffee to function until I realised that it was responsible for horrific IBS type abdo pains through the day. I really mourned the loss of that breakfast coffee for a while.

Wiifitmama · 25/09/2016 08:55

Totally agree. Sitting here in pjs with my first cup of coffee wondering when it will kick in. I hate mornings and al those around me know that. I have older kids so don't get up until 8 but still find it hard to get going.

ShebaShimmyShake · 25/09/2016 08:58

Can't have coffee as I'm breastfeeding. With a sleepless baby. I cope by sobbing into the size 10 clothes I will never wear again.

CakeNinja · 25/09/2016 08:59

Don't drink tea or coffee, water for me. Was up at 6:15 for a run this morning, showered and now going out to meet a friend for breakfast while dp takes Ds to football, dd1 is in bed, dd2 is at a sleepover.
I'm not sure caffeine would add much to my life!

SatsukiKusakabe · 25/09/2016 08:59

Tea. Coffee makes me feel worse. I get a headache and the jitters and just feel...weird.

SatsukiKusakabe · 25/09/2016 09:00

I would love to be a morning person.

NantucketNightbird · 25/09/2016 09:01

I only drink water but get up by choice at 5.30 everyday. My children have to be woken up especially the 3yr old. 7.30 on school days and 8.30 on weekends but I enjoy my time alone with the cats in the morning Blush

Ditsy4 · 25/09/2016 09:02

Oooohhhhh!

Tea, just getting up now to make a pot.
No kids here I can only hear the birds singing. I never usually sleep this late I woke at 8:23!

Mermaid36 · 25/09/2016 09:03

2 screaming twins and chocolate...Chocolate

ftmsoon · 25/09/2016 09:04

I'm a morning person, and I've never drunk tea or coffee. I have orange squash: cold in the summer, warm in the winter.

Elephantsaremygods · 25/09/2016 09:04

Tea. Also 6.30 am is a bloody lie in for me!!!

PanGalaticGargleBlaster · 25/09/2016 09:05

Can't get my head around people cracking open a can of coke or red bull first thing in the morning, that's just weird!

BennyTheBall · 25/09/2016 09:07

I have a cup of tea, but drink only decaf.

The coffee addiction is lost on me as I don't drink it. My dh however, can't cope with life until he's had a cup of coffee.

PaulDacreCuntyMcCuntFace · 25/09/2016 09:08

I only started drinking coffee a couple of years ago. I'd been working some hellish hours at work and was on my knees with tiredness, so resorted to the (vile) vending machine coffee at work, in an effort to help stay awake. I'm fussy about it and don't like the taste of most coffee-shop brews - too bitter. I tend to have 1-2 cups per day.

I think you can become dependent on it. I used to drink tea in the mornings but now don't drink it at all. If I don't have coffee in the morning then it's OK, but I have friends who will be really grotty until they have had a brew.

liz70 · 25/09/2016 09:09

I do drink coffee ☕ once a day, but never first thing - I couldn't stomach it. It has to be a nice cup of tea 🍵 when I first rise - I've just finished mine, actually. SmileBrew

Barbadosgirl · 25/09/2016 09:10

Another one in bed Mumsnetting with a huge cup of coffee. My husband can occasionally be great and, despite not liking it himself, understands my need for coffee in the am.

Sofabitch · 25/09/2016 09:12

Because we don't have to overcome our addiction withdrawal symptoms before dealing with the day ;-)

But I am an annoying morning person

Mycraneisfixed · 25/09/2016 09:15

I don't like tea or coffee so it's a glass of water for me first thingConfused
I envy you coffee (and tea) drinkers especially on a cold winter's day when I see you hugging your warm mugs of beverage.

yeOldeTrout · 25/09/2016 09:16

coffee is so vile (shudder)

Soubriquet · 25/09/2016 09:17

Tea!!

I can't stand coffee

Sofabitch · 25/09/2016 09:18

Warm water with lemon? or warm squash? Herbal tea? Lots of warm alternitives

HoneyDragon · 25/09/2016 09:21

It's a nice way to start the day.

Dd has been saving her Pocket money since April when she heard the Furby connect was going to be released this year. It arrived yesterday. it's loud and annoying. No one can be a morning person with one of those in the house.
