Cope at being up this time on a Sunday morning?

I'm a snarling, feral subhuman until I've had at least 2 cups. Brew

I've complete given up caffeine and feel so much better for it. I still have my morning tea but it's decaf, I found I really wanted the taste instead of the actual caffeine.
I also find I'm a lot less tired generally, I don't get that afternoon slump like I used to!
My only exception is long car journey, more than 3 hours and I struggle to stay awake, rather caffeine than dead in that circumstance!

KeiD · 25/09/2016 09:28

I don't really like coffee and ever since I gave up tea when I was pregnant with DS, 5 years ago, I can't drink it. I really want to like it but I just don't anymore. Can just about manage a weak decaf tea but that's it.

MrsRyanGosling15 · 25/09/2016 09:30

Sheba who on earth told you you can't have coffee because you are breastfeeding?

ZigZagIntoTheBlue · 25/09/2016 09:31

I've been up since 6 and I'm not allowed caffeine - water only for me Halo

MrsRyanGosling15 · 25/09/2016 09:35

Breath you can have caffine too. The NHS advises up to 200mg a day which is the equivalent to 2 mugs of instant coffee. I'm currently pregnant, in bed feeding a 2yr old and drinking tea

YouMakeMyDreams · 25/09/2016 09:36

I used to drink loads of coffee. Needed it to function. Stopped drinking it 6 years ago when I was pregnant with ds2 and it made me sick. Actually feel less tired without it. Think it became a vicious circle of needing it to keep me going but I had to drink more and stronger to keep me going. Once I stopped feel so much better and had much more energy. Now on the rare occasion I do need a perk up a coffee does it but honestly so rare. Don't think I've had a coffe this year.

5minutestobed · 25/09/2016 09:39

I only drink decaff tea or coffee so I still have a coffee in the morning but its psychological I think!

bimbobaggins · 25/09/2016 09:50

justilou · 25/09/2016 09:52

Notso · 25/09/2016 09:57

HobnailsandTaffeta · 25/09/2016 09:59

*hate Angry

MalbecAndLindt · 25/09/2016 10:04

I've always needed tea to feel more human in the morning. Since being pregnant, I've stitched to decaff rather have chocolate for my caffeine allowance It's okay but not the same. Once baby arrives, I'll be back on normal tea. I only drink coffee on the rare chance I go to a coffee shop, and that's mostly when I'm Christmas shopping. Never drink it in the house.

Greenkit · 25/09/2016 10:05

Been up since 5.50 as work at 6.30, tea is my friend

charlestonchaplin · 25/09/2016 10:22

Clearly you're an addict. People who aren't addicted don't have withdrawal symptoms. And if they've had a good night's sleep they should be just fine.

imnotreally · 25/09/2016 10:23

Coffee sends me to sleep....

maddening · 25/09/2016 10:26

I'm a tea addict but like the occasional coffee.

Went off tea when i was pg - made me feel sick :( so the first cup of tea in the hospital was the most wonderful cup of tea ever:)

MidniteScribbler · 25/09/2016 10:56

I haven't had a cup of coffee in twenty years. And I probably have a cup of tea about half a dozen times a year (usually when I have a cold, it makes me feel better somehow).

Coke Zero is my breakfast beverage of choice. Or a chocolate milk.

oldlaundbooth · 25/09/2016 14:40

I agree, OP.

Nothing like that first cup of java in the morning. Sigh.

oldlaundbooth · 25/09/2016 14:43

I went coffee free for a while and honestly did not feel any different as to when I drink 3/4 cups of the good stuff a day. Skin etc still the same.

I don't drink it much after 2pm though, or I can't sleep Brew

PrincessHairyMclary · 25/09/2016 14:47

Bath or shower as soon as I wake up then I'm good to go.

Artandco · 25/09/2016 14:49

No tea/ coffee or caffeine drinks here.

Woke at 7.30am after bed at 11pm. 8 1/2 hours is plenty of sleep for me. 5 year old slept until 8.45am, 6 year old 9.30am. So had a nice hour alone to shower, and read

PhoenixJasmine · 25/09/2016 14:53

Yup we cope very well because we're not caffeine addicts! We just wake up and are not in withdrawal Grin so crack on with the morning.

I actually really really hate the smell of coffee. I drink water, juices, herbal/fruit teas or hot lemon water in the mornings.

Shockers · 25/09/2016 14:54

Hot water with lemon and a big bowl of porridge wakes me up nicely at 05:30!

Coffee gives me an headache.
