Really BBC ? Such a dramatic way of reporting on the BBC News page over a TV programme but then the story is Pro BBC sooooo....

Not even the Friday Extra Slice presented by Jo Brand?

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 22/09/2016 11:01

It's a shame that this is the last proper series, because I can't warm to the competitors in the way I have in previous series. They're just a bit meh!

BuntyFigglesworthSpiffington · 22/09/2016 11:02

I wonder if Love Productions are utter cunts to work for hence Mel, Sue and Mary walking away with comparative ease.

Youarenotprepared · 22/09/2016 11:04

I don't know about dramatic. Every story comes up as breaking news on the BBC.

"Mary Berry to leave Great British Bake Off ahead of Channel 4 move" is a classically factual and dull BBC headline. It's is not exactly MARY BERRYS CH4S HOPES IN BREADXIT SHOCKER.

I thought she would leave, her own shows are pure BBC and the demand for them will likely increase with GBBO looking like a disaster. She has the brains to stay with the channel who have supported her and help turn her into a legend.

This morning will be revealing what Paul is doing soon.

Jetcatisback · 22/09/2016 11:05

Paul is moving to C4 - no surprise there then!

LagunaBubbles · 22/09/2016 11:05

MB has done the right thing. This is all a bit of a mess for production company and Channel 4 to be honest isnt it?

Jetcatisback · 22/09/2016 11:06

Just watching BBC2 news, says he's signed for the next three years.

Cacofonix · 22/09/2016 11:07

Paul has signed for C4 - ha ha - no bloody surprise there. He does lurrrve himself!

GabsAlot · 22/09/2016 11:07

He's such a charisma vacum, they'll really need someone to lend the show a bit of wit and sparkle.

Pupsiecola · 22/09/2016 11:09

Three year deal at C4 for PH.

SouthWindsWesterly · 22/09/2016 11:10

They'd be better off not taking Hollywood to C4 but starting with an entire new team instead.

It's all greed - BBC offered £15million, over double they currently pay. The company wanted £25

loobyloo1234 · 22/09/2016 11:11

Scenario: your job relocates, you're offered a MILLION pounds and the rest to relocate with the company ... what do you do? Confused

How anyone can slate Paul for this I'll never know ... he'll just roll around on a bed full of money whilst MN go into meltdown over it Smile

furryminkymoo · 22/09/2016 11:12

love this BREADXIT, I hope that's a headline somewhere.....

raisedbyguineapigs · 22/09/2016 11:12

Oh god that almost worse than a complete revamp with 4 new presenters. I suppose PH is more C4 than the rest of them. He didn't manage to save the US version did he- even with the added gossip of his affair with the other judge!

BuntyFigglesworthSpiffington · 22/09/2016 11:13

I'm glad he's going to Channel 4! I'd like to see the smug look wiped off his face when it goes tits up.

Dancergirl · 22/09/2016 11:14

The new Bake Off is going to be rubbish, I won't be watching.

Going to enjoy the rest of this series Sad

Yorkieheaven · 22/09/2016 11:14

Think it's died as a show now.

Paul would sign of course he thinks the show is him. It's so not its definatly the 3 women who carry the show.

pinkblink · 22/09/2016 11:14

I'd pay all that money for Paul Hollywood in a tentHalo

Cherryskypie · 22/09/2016 11:15

The production company, Love Productions is 70% owned by Sky. They bought the stake in 2014.

www.telegraph.co.uk/tv/2016/09/17/the-inside-story-of-bake-off---and-why-the-fall-out-wont-be-pret/

'In 2014, he and his partners in Love Productions sold 70 per cent of their company to Rupert Murdoch’s Sky.

Though the terms of the deal are confidential, it’s likely to contain an “earn-out” clause, keeping McKerrow in place for (probably) five years in return for a bonus if Love’s revenues reach their target – a goal that the Channel 4 deal will almost certainly help him achieve. “Earn-out culture turns good-hearted creative people into madmen,” says one independent TV producer.'

So basically the production company partners want the most money possible out of it ASAP. Come 2019 it's not their problem anymore.

BuntyFigglesworthSpiffington · 22/09/2016 11:15

It's shame this year's contestants have been so lack lustre.
