Really BBC ? Such a dramatic way of reporting on the BBC News page over a TV programme but then the story is Pro BBC sooooo....

The Great British Fuck Up.

Oh dear.

FrancesNiadova · 22/09/2016 10:39

Can Channel 4 now buy Eastenders, please! Grin

raisedbyguineapigs · 22/09/2016 10:39

I never thought she would go to C4. She doesn't need the hassle, and she's !royal to the BBC. I think it was Mel and Sue, cheesy jokes and all that forced Love Productions to make the show classier than their usual reality TV tripe. With them gone, she just wouldn't have fitted in. I think Paul will think twice though. He'd want the money but not to be associated with something that has disaster written all over it!.

Oysterbabe · 22/09/2016 10:40

Jo Brand is tipped to play the Mel and Sue role. I like her. Not sure who should partner Paul though. I wonder if Delia would be up for it.

Channel 4 might decide to start with four new hosts rather than three new and the one from BBC who was no one's favourite.

I can't believe C4 wouldn't have seen this coming? If they didn't a few heads shoukd roll. Fucking expensive tent - but still, lots of nice 'hideaway' ovens I suppose 😁

HoldMeCloserTonyDanza · 22/09/2016 10:44

Does Bakexit definitely mean Bakexit or is there any way for them to go back to the BBC tail between their legs?

wasonthelist · 22/09/2016 10:44

It's like Brexit all over again

Only much, much more serious going by all the hype.

GabsAlot · 22/09/2016 10:44

why shold they see it coming

love productions owns it and didnt want to make a deall with the bbc-theyve the ones who fucked up

ppeatfruit · 22/09/2016 10:45

What I don't understand is how the production company can sell GBBO without getting solid contracts from all the presenters and judges, saying they will follow it, FIRST . Serve 'em right Hmm

CandODad · 22/09/2016 10:47

Shouldn't this be baking news? 😄

jay55 · 22/09/2016 10:47

Yes how can they say how much they need per episode when they don't know how much they'll need for presenter and judges salaries.
I bet the agents of people in the running are rubbing theirs hands with glee.

HoldMeCloserTonyDanza · 22/09/2016 10:48

They won't have had a choice about the presenters - MB PH and M&S obviously had clauses in their contracts that if it left BBC they didn't have to go with it. Or their contracts were also up.

They will have tried to tie them in but there may have been nothing they could guarantee and they were just hoping the promise of C4 ££££ would bring them over.

Powergower · 22/09/2016 10:49

Paul really has no morals. He's a creep (yes I've met him in real life) who is desperately trying to get an increase on his already inflated wage. Theres a very good reason the BBC never really offered him any spin offs or invested in him beyond gbbo. He's too self centred and egotistical to quit with dignity like the others.

PumpkinPie9 · 22/09/2016 10:49

If Jo Brand presents it I might watch it. (Fickle.)

Bakingnovice · 22/09/2016 10:52

Paul is the imy one left clamouring for a job. He is a really awful guy and having met him a few times I can sat that he is not well liked in TV circles. If you read the blogs of former gbbo contestants many of them allude to his rude, aggressive and creepy behaviour. I think the girls have all done the right thing.

BuntyFigglesworthSpiffington · 22/09/2016 10:53

Paul is the Ringo Starr of the Great British Bake Off.

raisedbyguineapigs · 22/09/2016 10:54

I think their contracts were all up at the same time and they have refused to re sign them. I might watch if Jo Brand does it too, but I don't think k even she will be able to pull it off with just her and Hollywood.
C4 will really have to just throw money at the presenters now just to save face. Unless the money paid to Love included presenters salaries.

acasualobserver · 22/09/2016 10:56

I know what GBBO is and have even watched a few episodes but I do not get the fascination with its presenters at all. Mary Berry plays the part of a dreadful waxwork and is supported by two witless, gurning, capering simpletons. I can't remember what Paul Hollywood is like. Why their collective career decisions are deemed important enough to merit a BBC news flash on my phone, is beyond me.

BuntyFigglesworthSpiffington · 22/09/2016 10:56

Next the Kitchen Aids will say they're refusing to move too.

wasonthelist · 22/09/2016 10:57

If Jo Brand presents it I might watch it.

Me too, and I've never been tempted to watch a single episode of the fecker so far.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 22/09/2016 10:59

At least this guy will be transferring over to Channel 4 no problem

Breaking News - Mary Berry quits Bake off
raisedbyguineapigs · 22/09/2016 10:59

Apparently ITV wanted all the presenters signed up before they agreed to the deal. More fool Channel 4 for not agreeing to the same. Oh well, it will either be a surprise hit or they will have lost a shed load of money by that could have been better spent on quality drama like retaining Black Mirror on terrestrial TV.
