To think I'm not unreasonable to tell sister no to this baby name?

Loveheart Belle Princess.

That is what my sister has decided the baby shall be called. She refuses to accept that I have said no and has started to refer to her as that.

Her argument is that it's a really pretty name, princesses are cool and she can call her love for short which is nice.

I think at 6 she is old enough to be told fuck no and be banned from naming anything Grin

Or am I missing out and will regret not using said name?!

DD wanted to name DS after her favourite metro stations...

She's gone slightly more mainstream with this one, apparently, for a girl it's Ellabella and for a boy, it's...going to be a girl mummy, boys are too dirty.

pugsake · 24/09/2016 08:26

Sprink you're not far off.

Il suggest that name for DNiece2 Grin

Traveller names are often a little more outlandish. I just don't judge anymore.

Cleanermaidcook · 24/09/2016 08:27

Love it. 😁

My eldest Dd (23) has always insisted on calling my youngest ds (6) Leaf for some reason, and he would only respond to being called Princess Twilight Sparkle King of Huddles for about 6 months last year.

BabyBrownEyes · 24/09/2016 08:35

My eldest wanted to called his sister Sofie Frozen... Grin

Kyyria · 24/09/2016 08:44

When I was pregnant with my DS, my nephew (then 4) suggested Maxi Frizzy, and one of my friends (early 50s) was he'll bent on Aloysius Zombie.

LilithTheKitty · 24/09/2016 08:45

DS3 has three baby dolls named Anabelle - normal, Carter- bit odd but still sort of OK and Motorbike Grin.

weepat · 24/09/2016 08:49

I called my second nephew "ignatious" while he was a bump.
When he came to visit me for the first time as Alan Joe he brought me a build a bear called ignatious.

Still one of my prized possessions. He's 13 now.

My guinea pig is called Kevin.
My garden ornaments which I receive as gifts all had proper names. Horace was a dragon.

When pregnant with ds1 my 4 year old nephew said he didn't like the names we were thinking of and wanted to call him Teapot Rainbow. Yeah, ummm nope!

WhingeandWine · 24/09/2016 09:02

My DD told all the teachers when she was 4 that I was going to have her brother "Charlie Broccoli" soon. They asked me when I was due.

I wasn't even pregnant.

DMCWelshCakes · 24/09/2016 09:11

My brother had a toy dog called Puke. Neither of us knew why my mother was so against that being his name. Grin

WhingeandWine · 24/09/2016 09:18

We also had a rabbit named by DD called
Pandora Megatron Bumblebee Trains Sargeant, the cats are Gizmo Gallifrey Catsby, Oswin Selene Cleopurrtra and Miss Fluffypenny (and our last name which is doubled barrelled)

I think Charlie Broccoli got off lightly. I do.know a girl who's middle name is Biscuit after her big brother was allowed to name her. When I was a kid I renamed myself Sparkle Moondust (It was the 80's)

Enkopkaffetak · 24/09/2016 09:31

dd1 wanted us to name dd2 Duck...

TwatbadgingCuntfuckery · 24/09/2016 09:37

My sister gave her DD a name like that. Really sickly sweet and twee. without outing it contains flowers and seasons and a made up cutesy word. I renamed her Dave. She's nearly 10 now and thinks Dave is a fab name and loves that every birthday I buy her something small with 'Dave' on it.

Yes, my sister hates me but her DD thinks I'm fab if slightly bonkers. Grin

dentydown · 24/09/2016 09:40

Both my partner and my eldest son still argue over my 4th son's name.
Eldest gracefully says "i'll let DP think he thought of it first". I have no idea who thought of it. This argument will go on for years!

Sinderz13 · 24/09/2016 09:43

My son wanted to call my daughter Ronaldo-Messi. Be thankful! Grin

BalenaSpiaggiata · 24/09/2016 09:47

I'm grateful I wasn't a teen mum as my taste was similar to your sister's until I was about 19 Blush Upon finding out I'm expecting a boy my nephew (8) is now adamant he should be called Adolf or Coral?! Presumably some tv programme/ game characters, either way he's got more chance of being called loveheart!

DarthLipgloss · 24/09/2016 10:03

I used to work with someone whose adult sister named her own daughter 'Cherry-CoCo....

Wdigin2this · 24/09/2016 10:24

I have an unusual name....I bloody hate it! Don't do it!

Amiable · 24/09/2016 10:28

Dd was four when DS was born and was very upset we didn't go with Papa Smurf as his name.

RedLentil · 24/09/2016 10:34

When DS was small, he had imaginary friends called Jim, Jack, and Ozlin Chair Sozlin.

I always thought the last one would make a fine baby name. Wink

LikeDylanInTheMovies · 24/09/2016 10:39

Still chortling at Big Bad Barry

Nine pages in and that's still the best name. It contours up images of an infant loan shark or a pint sized heavy for a small time gangster.

Having worked in a secondary school, children can be incredibly unkind to others with names that haven't really been thought about. We had one girl who's initials were VD. Poor lass had some very cruel songs and jokes about it. There was a boy called Aiden, who the other kids shortened to AIDS. Then we had a Ruby Hare. We also had a family of all girls. About five in total all named after car makes; Porche, Mercades, Lamborgini, Jaguar and Bentley. Their peers were unkind to them too, especially the later one as you may imagine! We had a family too, with the surname 'Teed'. Obviously without thinking they called their children
Remember when naming your babies that you need to think about the initials, whether it rhythms with anything (especially rude), like Bex or where the name is so out there. Even birth months can be iffy, such as Taurean or even Holly. We all know when he/she was born. It might be ok whilst they're young but when they're at work they may not want all their colleagues to know and expect a round of cakes!
We also had a family with the surname 'Teed'. Obviously with thinking they called their children Darren(nicknamed guaranteed) and Beatrice(nicknamed bteed) and various other cruel names were the word ended in 'Teed'.Even my own surname was taken the mickey as it rhymed with a popular tea brand. The kids turned that into a song too. Remember your offspring whether they're a child/teenager/adult will not thank you for naming them that makes them stick out too much. They'll really come to resent you for it!
Remember too, when these little darlings are adults they may well be ultimately choosing your nursing home and seek the revenge then. After all, revenge is a dish best served cold, sometimes very cold! Grin

listsandbudgets · 24/09/2016 11:13

You're lucky op. When Dd was5 she suggested her new brother or sister should be called.......

Vagina Bubbles!!

Embrace love heart Belle princess with all your might

Mycatsabastard · 24/09/2016 11:15

13 days? OMG! That's wonderful. I am not going to say how did you miss being pregnant for 6 months as these things do happen. A friend of my sister was a size 10, completely flat stomach, went to the GP because she had a recurring pain in her side. Gp said she was pregnant. Sent her off for a scan. She was 7 and a half months. She had to go into work and tell them she was starting mat leave two weeks later!!

Bet your ds is excited. Congratulations to you Derek.

DeathpunchDoris · 24/09/2016 11:17

Brilliant name - she will have sweets with her name on. Do.It.
