To think that scholarships for women shouldn't be open to men?

So, scholarship to support women in STEM - a massive issue for all societies that we're not harnessing th talents of half our populations in this area.

But if you "identify as a woman in a way that's meaningful to you" you can apply.

What the ever loving fuck?

Another example of the damage being done to actual women, by saying that "woman" is a feeling in a man's head.

Well i guess if you can identify as how you wish and that should be respected and accepted...

some Transfolk have really got their knickers in a twist trying to get their heads round it though.

Elendon · 29/09/2016 14:14

Me: Hi doctor, I'm here for my prostate. It's been giving me some trouble and I would like an examination.

Dr: Okay. But...If I could just check your records. It's Ms Elendon?

Me: Yes, that's right. I'm a man. I have decided to identify as a man and would like you to examine my prostate. I've been going to the toilet a lot during the night lately. I've been on google and understand that this is a common condition amongst men of my age. Now can I have my prostate examined please.

Dr: Okay. Well. I'm not sure you have a prostate given that you put your gender down as female, when you first registered as a patient with us. You have had three children and various gynaecological problems. You do understand gynaecological problems? What sex was put on your birth certificate?

Me: I'm a man. You are being Transphobic!

Meanwhile in the real world.

Elendon · 29/09/2016 14:30

And in the real world the doctor took the time to listen and made notes.

The doctor also examined the records more carefully and noticed that this woman had once identified herself as a Victorian Lady as a form of punishment to her children, if they did not behave, and threatened to go to the school dressed as one (this last thing actually happened, children were appalled their mum would even contemplate this!).

The doctor took the decision that this woman was deluded.

The doctor contacted social services as a matter of severe action.

The doctor suggested that the patient see a psychologist.

The doctor was concerned about the mental health and well being of the patient.

The doctor said in a condescending tone that most middle aged 'men' have problems with their prostate and not to worry. Going down the route of examination will lead to all sorts of intervention. Not something you really want to do. Gave 'him' a wink and cheerfully waved him goodbye.

I didn't go to the doctor about this! Nor have I ever dressed as a Victorian Lady!

Elendon · 29/09/2016 15:02

Nor has this 'conversation' ever happened.

Apart from the time I did threaten to go to the school on Parent evening dressed as a Victorian Lady. The children were appalled I would even suggest such a thing.

My sex at birth, as written on my certificate of birth, is female. And then the gender thing happened. Which makes me what?

WankingMonkey · 29/09/2016 15:17

My sex at birth, as written on my certificate of birth, is female. And then the gender thing happened. Which makes me what?

My sex at birth was also female.

I have discovered during this whole thing that my 'gender' is actually 'genderqueer' or 'agender'. The reason for this is because I do not think of myself as a female, I think of myself as a person who is female. I have a mix of feminine and masculine traits. This means I am neither 'male' nor 'female' but inbetween or both. So what to do with me? I am AFAB but I have no gender. I cannot be referred to as a woman as my identity says differently. I am now confused. Does this mean I am a 'male and female woman'? Or a woman who is neither male nor female? Do I exist at all in the new world?

Can someone help?

WinchesterWoman · 29/09/2016 15:36

you're a monkey aren't you?

WinchesterWoman · 29/09/2016 15:36

you're an AMAB

WinchesterWoman · 29/09/2016 15:36

m for monkey
you're an AFMAB

LineyReborn · 29/09/2016 15:42

Surely the ante-natal 'gender scans' will solve everything in the new world order?

Lighthouse75 · 29/09/2016 15:57

MN is more transphobic than ARRSE.

Elendon · 29/09/2016 15:58

my gender is none of your business but my sex is female/male
mginoybbmsif and mginoybbmsim should be added on to the LGB etc tag then.

My daughter came 'out', but no one was surprised. But it was up to her to announce her sexual preference. And this is wrong. She is sexually attracted to females. Because she is. She wasn't born that way either. No one is born to be sexually attracted to one sex or the other. And she likes men. But she isn't sexually attracted to them. Nor should she be forced too, just because they say they are females. That's biology, and it means she has gone through puberty, explored the options and decided she is gay.

WankingMonkey · 29/09/2016 16:07

I have never heard of ARRSE before, just googled it. I do wonder how the news of the first female soldier went down there...

Transphobia apparently means something different to others than it does to me. I honestly do not see pointing out differences between sex and gender as transphobic, nor do I see stating biological facts as transphobic. It would be transphobic (IMO, since everyone seems to have a different meaning of it) to treat people as less than human for 'identifying' as trans. To attack them for it. To think they shouldn't have the same rights as any human. And so on.

But saying I think gender and sex are different things? I honestly do not see how that is transphobic

Elendon · 29/09/2016 16:31

It is transphobic to attack trans by saying that they are the biological sex they are at birth. You are as nasty as a very nasty person in doing so. And then some.

Apparently.

venusinscorpio · 29/09/2016 16:40

They are all so fragile it's literal violence to misgender them. It's the worst thing that could ever happen to someone. Rather than you simply disagree that they are the opposite sex and don't want to be forced to lie and collude in someone's delusion.

IceBeing · 29/09/2016 16:53

ahh MN...the very least you could do is provide an emoticon for that sensation you get when you realise you have been trying to think through the issues, look at the evidence, make balanced and rational arguments based on said evidence, see things from all sides before settling on a position and then you discover you are talking to an Wakefield acolyte. Hmm doesn't really cover it.

It certainly explains the conversion of 'I don't think Victorian attitudes to modesty are helping' into 'Icebeing thinks everyone should walk around naked' though. That's exactly the debating style you tend to get from anti-vaxxers.

anyhoo...I can see you are all having a lot of fun with the ever more impressive straw man constructions...so I will leave you to it.

Twunk · 29/09/2016 16:56

I was pondering a (very public) profile of a TA the other day. This person was a parody of a woman, even with the "hooker" shoes and posing akin to porn/stripper poses. Classic AGP. The sheer level of hatred for women on display was eye-opening, as well as the massive sense of entitlement. Narcissism in a very classical sense.

Seemed very very annoyed that butch lesbians shouldn't be woman but should be men. Because gender. Because their existence as gender-non-conforming women threatens their sense of themself.

Until you've seen this stuff you won't believe it - we're not making it up - it's there.

Twunk · 29/09/2016 16:58

I'm not an anti-vaxxer Ice - quite the opposite. Are you saying the 2 positions are related?

venusinscorpio · 29/09/2016 16:59

It's annoying when you can't control the rest of the world to suit your own interests, isn't it?

Elendon · 29/09/2016 17:01

Ice has subjectively decided to ignore all questions, pretending instead to be interested in science by quoting Wakefield. Drop this into the conservation and then walk away.

What a lowlife coward. Are you #DonaldTrump?

venusinscorpio · 29/09/2016 17:11

Icebeing, you are entirely bizarre.

HairyLittlePoet · 29/09/2016 17:15

Some kind of psychotic break perhaps?

WinchesterWoman · 29/09/2016 17:16

It's directed at me, twunk. I'm not an anti vax either but I question vax and have been doing that on another thread. Ice took exception to me fooling around with his 'let's all be free with our bodies then we wouldn't get raped as much, like in Greece' so I assume he advance searched me in a fit of pique. Having found what he thought was a slam dunk put down he brought it here. I'm dreadfully upset by the whole business. Oh wait no I'm not.

HairyLittlePoet · 29/09/2016 17:26

Oh, Ice is a bloke!!!
This explains so much. I had been suspending disbelief with all the dodgy posts but now it makes better sense.

Elendon · 29/09/2016 17:27

Wanking

Just to say hi and to also want an answer to this all important question, there seems to be no answers, just huffy puffing and storming off.

There are no emotions for it.

Very sad and despondent face. Crosses hands and lowers face.
