I know down here in the SE we've been blessed with good weather for the past few weeks, but here we are now on a wet and miserable Monday; kids coming home damp & stroppy from school because the honeymoon period is over & pavements are wet and slippery

The commute will be hellish; it was dark when many set off this morning, its definitely getting dark now and no doubt the trains will start failing due to the wrong kind of leaves on the line so you'll have to shove in with people whose umbrellas will drip down your neck or onto your feet.

Bounty my house is never cold I promise!

ParadiseCity · 20/09/2016 14:08

YANBU. Summer is the best.

Autumn is just miserably getting ready for the shitness of winter. Less sun, less light, more rain, the grass is still growing and needs mowing but its too wet. The leaves are shit and wet and get in the way. I have got boots on today and now my feet are too hot because the weather has changed its mind.

Jumpers are shit too because they are a PITA to wash and dry. And boots are shit because they fall over when you leave them by the door.

blackheartsgirl · 20/09/2016 14:38

I love Autumn, it's my favourite time of year. I hate the heat, hate working in it. I have vitiligo so can never go in the sun without factor 50 a hat and long sleeves

The colours are just beautiful. The bonfire smell, the cold, wearing decent clothes, Halloween, and so on

BeMorePanda · 20/09/2016 14:42

It is the seasons I really love here in UK - all of them, and the fact that they change.

But specifically Autumn:
Wearing boots and long sleeves again.
Halloween
My birthday, DD's birthday
Getting dark early.
Strictly Come Dancing.
Being indoors more.

ParadiseCity · 20/09/2016 14:45

Hmm, well, summer haters can stay indoors all year round if they want. Sorry but you Autumn lovers don't get to claim 'staying indoors' is a bonus of the season.

EddieHitler · 20/09/2016 15:11

I love all of the seasons when they arrive, I love summer but I'm bored of it now and ready for a change. Autumn is special, the changes are beautiful, like the leaves on the trees turning red and gold... and you can stop mowing the lawn for a bit soon. Bonus.

Of course we romanticise it, but I love this time of year; the exciting run up to Christmas, wet and windy walks on the beach, wearing boots and tights again, new start at school and college, pots of soup simmering on the hob and lovely cosy, dark nights. It makes me feel all tingly just thinking about it.

LittleLionMansMummy · 20/09/2016 15:42

Autumn is spectacularly, breathtakingly beautiful on a sunny day.

But I can't help but get a bit depressed that summer is over.

FeedMeAndTellMeImPretty · 20/09/2016 15:44

You need the little book of Hygge Ifailed Smile

Cosy warm socks

Wearing fluffy scarves and rich autumnal colours after all the light and bright summery clothes

Flickering candlelight

Steaming stews and soups on a cold windy day

The beautiful colours of trees turning yellow, red and then brown before winter

Not being a sweaty mess within half an hour of having a shower

Not having to worry about whether you might need a cardi, coat, brolly etc. You just do! And you definitely don't need sunscreen.

I love how long the evening feels when it's dark early. It feels like bedtime and then I look at the time and realise that I still have hours to watch TV!

I work at home so I don't have the hassle of a commute and walking through the village is a pleasure, no slimy leaves all over the pavement or soggy commuters to deal with here, so I guess I get to experience the best of Autumn from inside my office or car Smile

One thing I do hate about it though is the mahoosive spiders.

Polarbearflavour · 20/09/2016 15:46

Love Autumn / Winter

Nice coats and boots, pumpkin spice lattes, the air just smells different, I don't sweat really badly, I can wear tights so I don't have to worry about chub rub with bare legs!

Aeroflotgirl · 20/09/2016 15:48

I love Autum:

Conker season
Weather turning cooler
Leaves turning beautiful colours
Bonfire and Halloween nights
lovely crisp air

biscuitbadger · 20/09/2016 16:05

Mmm the smell of Autumn!

And going out in a cardigan and boots and a woolly hat.

SooBee61 · 20/09/2016 17:24

I like autumn, always makes me feel more alive. I don't like heat so summer not my favourite (even an English one!) and I feel positively depressed in spring. Only thing I don't like about autumn is it leads up to Xmas which is a bore. Bah humbug. Winter is OK too except snow and ice which are scary, esp. as we live in a country village and it's easy to get cut off.

HalfShellHero · 20/09/2016 17:32

I feel personally , i like hazy summer days dnt get me wrong but its nice to have crisp sunny days without the sticky heat, Loove Halloween! Probably a big part of it x

Ifailed · 21/09/2016 16:55

Thankfully it's back to a little bit of summer today. However, as it's the Autumn equinox tomorrow; all you people who love the dark, damp and cold days will be well chuffed. You can put on boots and jumpers, catch colds and squint at books in the candle-light as the power-lines are down again due to gales.

Bonkers, the lot of you.

Honestly, you just pretty much described my perfect day Grin

lostoldlogin2 · 21/09/2016 18:06

I live in Spain. Autumn is 25 degrees instead of 36. I love Autumn

Thesmallthings · 21/09/2016 18:16

Love autumn. Its ny favourite.

Not hot not freezing, the change of colours, the smell in the air, cozy nights in.

Love it

gillybeanz · 21/09/2016 18:23

I like all the seasons, it's lovely to see the changes.
Autumn colours are beautiful and rich, it's not too hot or too cold, just lovely.
The leaves are crunchy and not yet all mulched, it's only dark if you get up too bloody early Grin
I'm happy to be mad though, prefer being called mad to boring and unimaginative

ImNotDancing · 21/09/2016 18:29

my birthday is in autumn so is automatically my favourite month!

ImNotDancing · 21/09/2016 18:35

*season
had real issues typing that out for some reason haha, no surprise something slipped past me!

MrsMook · 21/09/2016 18:45

Autumn can be beautiful in September and October. I love summer, and the warmth, but autumn is more beautiful outside than the dull late summer lull when everything is just dark green.

Come November, the novelty is gone, and it's just gone dank, soggy and dull. I'd edit November and January out of the year. I'd keep December for a short run of the darkest days, then jump to February when they lengthen out a bit. You'd keep a decent chance of some nice crisp frosts or snow for a flavour of winter, and spring would catch up nice and quickly.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeG0es · 21/09/2016 18:50

I love Autumn, so nice to be able to go outdoors without overheating, worrying about getting sunburn, having to wear suncream. Trees turning, leaves starting to fall, crisp air in the mornings, love it.

user1471552005 · 21/09/2016 21:26

Another Autumn lover here.

Happy Mabon everyone.

FairyDogMother11 · 21/09/2016 21:53

I was born in Autumn and I love it. I do enjoy the summer but I like the long nights and the warm jumpers and blankets. I like jumping in leaves and puddles in my wellies. It's excellent having bad weather as an excuse to stay in Grin

Hedgehogparty · 21/09/2016 23:11

I love autumn, its a beautiful time of year
Summer is my least favourite season - would be happy to skip it altogether as I don't cope at all in heat.
