Hi all just had a buyer leave negative feedback because the jeans I sold her didn't fit her despite me clearly labelling the size!! Bonkers!! Has any one else had any interesting eBay/ online seller stories!! This is genuinely for my own interest/ amusement!!

Sorry whoops

Friend bought a bargain pair of cows it

Fizzyboo · 17/09/2016 23:04

I listed a load of dolls house furniture in the dolls house furniture category after using them for a photography project on a course I was doing.
A man bought a tiny afghan rug for about £1 then flipped his lid about how it was not a rug it was only 10cm hahaha! I just imagine him knitting out his whole house from the dolls house category, thinking what a bargain he'd got, till it all arrived!

NovemberInDailyFailLand · 17/09/2016 23:10

Another 1: I listed a collectible chess set which was massive and v. heavy. UK only, or postage would have been insane.

Got a lady from Brazil begging me over and over to send it there. I think it would have been cheaper to buy it it's own flight!

Velvetdarkness · 17/09/2016 23:14

I once bought a cost described as good condition. The photos were dark but I messaged to clarify the colour then bid and won.

When it arrived it was threadbare in many places.

I complained and asked for a refund and the seller got huffy and told me that when she had bought it off eBay it had arrived like that! She was trying to resell it to recoup her money!

I pointed out she should have complained like I was, and she refunded me but didn't want the cost back.

Why she didn't raise a complaint I don't know. The cheek of just conning someone else like she was!

CoolToned · 17/09/2016 23:22

Velvet - probably that was just a lie to escape negative feedback. Maybe she thought you'd be understanding.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 18/09/2016 00:00

Also just remembered buying a dress listed as "new with tag" To be fair it did indeed have a tag ... a charity shop one

Just to add insult to injury the seller hadn't even cleaned the dress (but then, neither had the charity shop!!)

Are you sure you've only had the one scoop Only1scoop? Wink

I've stopped selling on eBay because of things like this. Sick of being ripped off by people and eBay siding with the buyer.

Once I sold a pair of shoes from Topshop worn once but I'd had them in my wardrobe about a year. The buyer emailed me to say one foot was bigger than the other (it wasn't and the listing showed the sole which showed the size on both as a 4). I'd also worn them once and so knew they were the same size. She then wanted me to go back to Topshop (a year after purchase) with my receipt (but no shoes as she had them) and get my money back for the fault (that didn't exist) so I could refund her?!

Another time a buyer claimed the item was damaged (I knew it wasn't). I asked her to send photos of the damage but she wouldn't and so I asked her to return. When it arrived back the stitching had clearly been unpicked. Despite having several photos showing the item in perfect condition eBay still ruled in her favour and made me refund cost plus original and return P&P. So not only was I £10 out of pocket but I had an item I couldn't sell again. Why didn't she just say it didn't fit/suit whatever rather than damage my item and leave me out of pocket?

That was the final straw!!! Too many unscrupulous people wanting to rip you off. And bays ridiculous blanket side with the buyer despite the circumstances rule.

CoolToned · 18/09/2016 02:58

I one bought a limited edition pair of sneakers that was described as preowned, in good condition.

When it came it was so dirty I didn't even want to touch it.

PeepshowPeg · 18/09/2016 03:59

Only1scoop, come on love, try again, third time lucky. I need to hear about your friend's cowboy boots/ cows story Grin

Only1scoop · 18/09/2016 09:48

Peep Grin

This bloody phone

Well, she bought the forementioned Cowboy boots, tried them on and a....vibrator had been left in one of them. Blush

It's such a funny tale how she tells it.

StStrattersOfMN · 18/09/2016 10:22

I have a stroppy buyer right now, who simply cannot get her head round the global shipping programme - she seems to think I've pocketed the difference between 1x international shipping and 2x, as she bought 2 items and I shipped them as one parcel, which went as a medium parcel, instead of 2x small parcels. I've even screenshot the listing to show I only charge/receive enough to post it to the depot, but she obviously tries this on regularly because I'm simply getting 'everyone else refunds me'.

I'm sorely tempted to end all my listings and give up

Soubriquet · 18/09/2016 10:28

Stay strong Stratters

You give in and refund her, she knows if she whines enough she will always win!

StStrattersOfMN · 18/09/2016 10:36

I've refunded her 80p, and told her (again) that what she gets charged for international shipping has fuck all to do with me. Grin

I don't think she's going to be happy, but she's seriously pissing me off. I hate thick chancers.

PeepshowPeg · 18/09/2016 10:42

Only1scoop Did she notify the seller that they left a personal item in one boot?
(And ask why would you keep a sex toy in your shoes?) Grin

tibbawyrots · 18/09/2016 10:44

"Everyone else refunds me"

You've got yourself a serial complainer-to-force-refunds there 😡

StStrattersOfMN · 18/09/2016 10:47

She's getting the 80p and if I get another message I'll be contacting eBay about her harassment. And it will be mentioned in her feedback, I don't give a shit what she leaves me

dobbythefuckingjizzelf · 18/09/2016 10:57

For every good buyer on ebay there are a handful of total bell ends waiting to piss you off for trying to sell something in a decent and honest way

I had one once who filed an item not received after I had posted it as she had moved house, parcel had been delivered to her old address which was the one on file with ebay when she ordered it, tracking showed it delivered and signed for in her name by new occupiers who denied having it to her, ebay found in my favour and she bought another one a few weeks later which I sent to her new address, signed and delivered with no problems at all

I guess she maybe was genuine and had moved without changing her delivery address but don't see why I should loose out for her mistake, thankfully tracking details and ebay agreed in my favour

Only1scoop · 18/09/2016 10:57

Peep she didGrin

It's actually quite amusing, it was years ago when there was that trend to wear gypsy style skirts and Cowboy boots.

She had a Royal Mail card said tried to deliver so she picked up her 'parcel' from the post office, drove to a local Retail park with boots to try in with skirt and actually made discovery in changing room of Top ShopGrin

She emailed seller (to be fair a dealer type I think) and said a 'lady's pleasure implement' had been left in boot Blush

The seller sent an apology for not checking her stock Grin

Only1scoop · 18/09/2016 10:58

The original owner must have been doing a reverse cowgirl we reckon....

Sorry, couldn't resist Grin

Puzzledandpissedoff · 18/09/2016 11:00

Careful with the feedback, stratters - anything other than positive comments can be reported to ebay, and if they side with her it could result in a strike against you

I get that buyers should be able to give genuine feedback without worrying about retaliation from sellers, but this complete ban on giving buyers a neg is pushing the whole thing completely out of balance. At this rate there won't be any small, private sellers left ... which would no doubt suit them just fine Hmm

StStrattersOfMN · 18/09/2016 11:03

Good point, puzzled. I'll come back and ask for help composing her feedback. Grr I am so cross

Notsoaccidentproneanymore · 18/09/2016 11:34

I won an office chair on eBay a few weeks ago on a Wednesday evening about 7pm. Collect only. I messaged the seller that evening asking him where he lived. He replied shortly after giving the area. He then messaged later (I had gone to bed) giving me his address.

He emailed me a couple of times the next morning, but I didn't see them as I was at work. I checked my emails mid afternoon when I was on my break to find that he'd sent me a snotty email and cancelled the sale as I hadn't replied to his emails, so clearly didn't want it. He cancelled at 1pm the day after.

The listing didn't state must collect straight away - I wouldn't have bid if it had. He also not me not to rebid on the relisted chair. He did relish and sold it for less than half what I'd bid.

TBH I'm still pissed about it. I could have collected that evening if he'd given me a chance.

And yes, I left negative feedback saying he'd given me less than 24 hours to arrange collection.

I've been using eBay for years, and always check sellers feedback, other items, location etc before I buy, so usually get a 'feel' for sellers and their idiosyncrasies.

StStrattersOfMN · 18/09/2016 11:41

People are assholes

MagikarpetRide · 18/09/2016 14:13

This reminds me. Once I listed a very naice brand new dress. Didn't really get as much for it as I hoped but that's the way these things go if you don't put reserves on. Got a message saying it was the wrong size. I'd listed as 10 instead of 16. Completely my error. Don't even know how it happened but I put my hands up. Asked them to return and even offered to pay for return postage which I didn't need to but felt I should.

Buyer refused to return, even at my cost. Just wanted a refund. I told them to put a case through eBay knowing they normally insist on return of item. Buyer didn't bother me again or leave negative feedback. Maybe I'm a loon magnet on eBay!

Never checked to see if they relisted it though. Would be interesting to know if they got more than me.
