Hi all just had a buyer leave negative feedback because the jeans I sold her didn't fit her despite me clearly labelling the size!! Bonkers!! Has any one else had any interesting eBay/ online seller stories!! This is genuinely for my own interest/ amusement!!

I bought a set of pyjamas for DS when he was a baby. Worn once and washed in the description.

When they turned up one of the pair (which was carefully layered underneath the other in the picture) was completely worn out with holes in the legs, bobbled all over and actually had shit in the inside bottoms from a leaked nappy. The brand were not what was listed either.

I complained and she went apeshit on me - what did I expect from eBay etc. Confused

LoopiusMaximus · 16/09/2016 20:10

I sold a wrap dress, the buyer messaged to say it didn't fit and demanded a refund but also wanted to keep the dress Hmm. She was adamant that she should get to keep it and have her money back as her 'bottom didn't fit into it' and it was all my fault! I curiously looked through her recent feedback to see she had purchased lots of size 16 clothing! however my dress was a size 10. I didn't hear from her again once I notified her of her error Wink

Another favourite: I sold baby boys brand new with tags Next dungarees for £1.50 to a buyer from Lithuania. He messaged in very broken English to tell me that he had received but they had been worn and were in awful condition. I tried to explain numerous times that the dungarees were meant to look faded / distressed and were brand new as per the pictures. He told me I was a terrible person who had sewn the plastic tags back on!
FFS The postage cost more than the item did.

Oooh another springs to mind: I sold a car, as soon as the auction ended, the highest bidder messaged instantly to ask if I could deliver to mid Wales. I explained I was the opposite end of the country, to be met with a load of abusive messages.

The list could go on and on. There's some very strange people on eBay and no matter whether I'm the buyer or the seller, eBay always favours the other person.

shopaholic999 · 16/09/2016 20:15

I sold a dress for £1.20..the buyer asked for time to pay FFS.

SellMySoulForMoreSleep · 16/09/2016 20:17

I sold the base to our maxi cosi car seat but when the buyer (the dad) came to pick it up I couldn't find the instruction manual so said I would post it. Found it the next day and popped it in an envelope then went to take my son to nursery. I had the envelope in my hand when another mum at nursery who I didn't know said 'excuse me, that's my name and address on that envelope!'
Saved me that postage anyway!

ApocalypseSlough · 16/09/2016 20:20

Not me but a friend of a friend was really excited to win a set of copper pans for £16.99- lovely pictures and obviously unused.
Less thrilled when they arrived. In a matchbox. She thought the 16:1 mentioned in the listing was something to do with the metal, not the dolls house size!

leccybill · 16/09/2016 20:30

I bought a Bumbo seat off eBay for about £5. When it arrived, it was full of beautiful dresses and outfits from Next. The seller said her DD had outgrown them so she hoped I'd get some use out of them. Smile

Unicorntrainer · 16/09/2016 20:38

I sold some shoes last week, perfect transaction. Then got a message from someone saying she missed end of auction and could she pay £xx plus postage, she had a feedback of 2 so I am thinking that she doesn't quite get how it works yet.

Have some sandals on just now, clearly too many shoes, and someone messaged me to as how long they are in centimetres?

SealSong · 16/09/2016 20:42

Some eBay sellers are lovely. I bought a blouse recently, and was delighted to receive the parcel which had in it the blouse that I had paid for, plus an identical one in a different colour, both carefully wrapped in nice tissue paper with a note inside saying that they had included the other blouse free and they hoped I liked it Smile

228agreenend · 16/09/2016 20:42

Twice I had messages on different items (same person?) giving me a sob story. I'm not what they hoped - were they expecting me to send them goods free-of-charge? (Maybe they were genuine, but it was a bit weird).

I recently tried to sell some school uniform on a Facebook selling site. One person asked to reduce the price (which I accepted), and then expected me to drive to a town 15 miles away to deliver it as she didn't drive. I declined.

yumscrumfatbum · 16/09/2016 20:46

I sold one of those cosy coupe cars the buyer got it at the totally bargain price of £5. We were going to be out when they collected it so left it in our porch. Got great feedback from them thanking us for "the extras". DH had emptied a shed load of outdoor toys from the car before we went out, into the porch!!!

Hotlingbling · 16/09/2016 20:51

as a seller
I listed a bugaboo bee. Before the auction ended buyer asked if I would post abroad I checked her country and told her how much extra it would cost. She won the item.
Straight away I received five emails saying that she was trying to pay and couldn't. I said I will send her an invoice. She received it and the asked if she could pay 3 days later!
Within the three days she had started to ask questions about the item that she should've asked before she won or check the listing. Questions like, "is that the only hood it comes with", " what is the condition of the Pram"

as a buyer
I bought a washing machine, before hand I asked if I could send a courier and would she disconnect it. She said yes she would but I would have to wait until Sunday. I asked for her postcode so I could get courier quotes and she said postcode will be given upon payment. So I paid. I booked a courier for Sunday and asked her when would be a good time so I could tell the courier. She ignored my emails. Come Saturday night I had to embarrassly ask the courier could I move it to another day as I couldn't get In touch with the seller he politely agreed. The Sunday I get a message apologising saying she was busy but would be around Monday afternoon. Again I related that info to the courier. She messages me Monday afternoon about an hour before pickup saying she has just got called into work can't wait. I told the courier sorry again I would have to rearrange. Monday night she says I'm back send over the courier?! I said to her you know what I'm going to have to cancel I can't just tell the courier to come now that's not how it works I would have to arrange it.

HuckleberryGin · 16/09/2016 20:55

I bought a skirt once and found a £5 note in the pocket. I emailed seller and she said keep it! (I offered to PayPal it back)

HuckleberryGin · 16/09/2016 20:56

I also sold a double bed frame and the woman arrived to collect the it in a Renault clio. Her boyfriend laughed. She took the slats but had to return with a bigger car for the rest the next day.

Cakescakescakes · 16/09/2016 20:59

I bought a baby grobag which apparently was 'as new' and when I got it and unzipped it there was loads of dried on baby vomit all down the inside of it. Had to boil wash it.

ChaseAvenal · 16/09/2016 21:09

Here's my post again but buyer's name censored this time... sold a bikini top, thought this was a little unfair...

OhThatThingAgain · 16/09/2016 21:10

Sold some CL shoes, still in Selfridges bag, original box and dust bag with receipt. Completely genuine. Worn once, bloody uncomfortable things.

Sold them and stated they'd been worn once for an hour at a wedding but found them too narrow. Girl who bought them claimed they were fakes. I said send them back and I'll refund.

She sent an email stating 'I don't wear fake shoes', I replied 'Well i don't wear second hand shoes'.

eBay decided in my favour.

caffeine99 · 16/09/2016 21:37

leccybill That was the nicest story ever! What a lovely gesture.

I loved the story of the person who Received two shirts too.

I actually laughed out loud at some of the rest of these - absolutely brilliant!

Mojito6 · 16/09/2016 21:49

I once sold a man's tshirt and the buyer messaged saying could he return as is biceps didn't fit in it(lol) I agreed he could, o had a back up buyer anyway. I refunded him less the original amount he paid for postage I.e. What I spent posting it to him. He went batshit crazy I actually got scared he would hunt me down!
Also, have had a buyer demand I send it abroad, discussed lead times and they chose the 15 day delivery option then left me negative feedback because it arrived too late for their party I was fuming!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 16/09/2016 21:53

My only negative feedback in 5 years as a seller was someone claiming it wasn't a 14, more like a 12.
Well, perhaps you should take that up with Topshop love....

3littlemonkeys82 · 16/09/2016 21:54

I had a buyer leave negative feedback... I'd sold a pair of baby jeans worn once and washed... She was annoyed that I'd dared to iron them before sending???

monkeysox · 16/09/2016 21:58

I've done this before when sold kids stuff. Especially if a bundle I've added bits in.
It's nice to help.
I listed my old nursing bras and an American man bought every single one.
I listed a normal bra and had someone ask.if I had matching pants, preferably worn. Vomit.

Danglyweed · 16/09/2016 22:00

Ah feck, why does ebay messages only go back til june?! I had a belter of a time with someone selling paper bags(the takeaway kind, wanted for party bags) fucking cunt still riles me up with his lies and bullshit

scottishegg · 16/09/2016 22:06

Another one I've just thought of which happened to a friend of mine was she sold a designer top with fashionable holes as a design feature as in they were meant to be there, took loads of photos and added a in depth description only for the buyer to complain...... About the holes!!

fruitatthebottom · 16/09/2016 22:08

I've just remembered I sold a Tavel cot - I actually listed it as for collection only but someone bought it anyway who lived 80 miles away then said they would arrange and pay for courier collection. Fine I said, as long as you take responsibility for any damage done by courier. Then began a fortnight carry on of when could I be in to give to the courier.. Basically demanding I take a whole day off work to stay at home for the courier to collect.. In the end I had to pack it up and leave it at reception in work for the courier to collect, the courier didn't turn up and it went walk abouts for a few days. Got a load of abuse from the buyer, I went above and beyond what should have been expected to track it down and ended up having to take a day of work for courier collection. Never never again!

JellyWitch · 16/09/2016 22:10

I sold a dress for £4. Woman complained it had a hole in it (it didn't when I sent it) so I asked her to return it recorded delivery and I would refund. I never heard anything more!

Then there was the guy who came to pick up a wardrobe on behalf of his sister, although said sister had been using his eBay acc and emailing in his name. Anyway, he didn't have the cash so I sent him to the bank 4 miles away. He then phoned to say there wasn't enough money in his account so he needed his sister to do a transfer. An hour later he turned up with the cash and we got rid of the wardrobe. It was all a bit odd.
