Hi all just had a buyer leave negative feedback because the jeans I sold her didn't fit her despite me clearly labelling the size!! Bonkers!! Has any one else had any interesting eBay/ online seller stories!! This is genuinely for my own interest/ amusement!!

Ah after seeing a pp's post reminds me if the time I bought 3 Pairs of gap jeans from same seller, all unworn with tags, arrived with 15 quid in one pocket, I only paid 6 quid.

I saw a coat for DD that I'd been wanting for ages. It was listed as used but excellent condition. Photos were obviously taken indoors at night under artificial light so I messaged the seller politely asking if there were any holes, rips, marks or stains on the coat. Seller replied that the coat was perfect, looked brand new and that it had only been worn a handful of times. When it arrived it had obviously been worn loads, had various holes, wear marks on sleeves and cuffs, lots of pilling etc. I messaged the seller and she said if I'd wanted a new coat I should go to the shop and pay full price!!! This was hardly the point as a) that particular coat which I'd searched for for ages isnt made any more and b) she'd said it was perfect/looks brand new condition when it clearly wasn't. I emailed her a few times with no reply so I ended up cutting my losses, keeping the coat and leaving negative feedback. I'm still annoyed about it now!

There's definitely some tryers.. Threaten you with bad feedback to get you to give a refund so they can get something for nothing!

FriskyFrog · 16/09/2016 22:12

Today I just had a Paypal chargeback for £500 for a sofa I sold in July!! Shock

Apparently the buyer's bank has reclaimed the money having been contacted by the buyer.

The buyer was delighted with it, so I am hoping it's a mistake and she's seen the £500 charge to her bank and doesn't recognise it as I am currently sans sofa and £500 poorer!

Danglyweed · 16/09/2016 22:25

No fucking way frisky

I bought a coat for DD that was meant to be new with tags. Tag wasn't attached and had cut so the item code had gone.
Sellers child's name was written on inside label with a black sharpie!

NiceCuppaTeaAndASitDown · 16/09/2016 22:38

I have a friend selling some dresses get messaged by a total perve asking if they could be worn without underwear - and for her to take photos in the dresses with and without underwear so they could see if there was a difference Confused

emilywemily · 16/09/2016 22:40

I recently bought a benefit blusher from eBay which was such a painfully obvious fake it was laughable! (My own fault I know)
Anyhow I emailed the seller about a return said they would send me an envelope. Day later refund arrived via PayPal plus a load of abuse about me being a crook! The day after the return envelope arrived so I bunged it back in the post. After a few days which I assume the blusher arrived back I then received more abuse! Fucking crackpot - claims to have bought a job lot of 100s of these blushers but they cannot possibly be fakes Hmm lesson learnt

Twofurrycats · 16/09/2016 22:49

Buyer of a cardi complained about every aspect of the item: colour wasn't what she expected (loads of photos of it) the arms were tight, it didn't swish/hang how she expected....... paragraphs of it. We thought that basically it didn't fit but she wanted us to pay for a return by saying it wasn't as described. So I rang eBay. The lovely lady there said they didn't believe her essay so they would credit me the return postage. This has happened before but eBay then said she had to pay to return it. Suspect they looked at her account and she had done similar a lot.

emmyhNL · 16/09/2016 22:51

I bought a dress off ebay and everything looked good. Seller appeared legit and everything was smooth and fantastic. Until I received it. It still had the security tag in it!

When I messaged the seller asking her what on earth was going on and what should I do with a dress that would set off security alarms if I wore it she said: cut it out of the dress.

Suffice to say, I returned it and she was utterly non plussed by it.

Loving this! Some people are so damned rude/stupid aren't they.

Sold an expensive item of jewelry, next (available) day delivery . Auction ended around 10pm on a Saturday night. Next day is obviously a Sunday. Buyer emails me Sunday lunchtime, asking where the item is, you promised next day delivery blah blah.

I explained that there are clearly no post offices open on a Saturday night and that the item would be sent as soon as the PO opened which was Monday so they would get it by Tuesday. I received countless shitty emails and the negative feedback because it didn't arrive the day after the bloody auction! Moron.

Some furniture , sold it but buyer wanted to come at 2am to collect it . We declined obviously.

My favorite though was a business who was tired of people saying their items had not arrived when he knew they most likely had. Seller put little cards in each parcel. The wording was along the lines of "If you have not received your parcel please quote this code and call this number" people actually rang to say they had not received their items!

OnTheEdgeOfItAll · 16/09/2016 23:08

oh no Frisky... Did they collect the sofa? If so they have probably done an 'item not received case'. Odd you didn't have any communication though.

MrsderPunkt · 16/09/2016 23:10

I sold a dress for £30 that I'd bought (ebay) a couple of weeks earlier. The buyer wanted a refund as she said that the dress was covered with black oil stains that were not evident on the photographs (that would be because they didn't exist). She wouldn't provide photographs of them.
I agreed to refund her when she returned the dress. She refused to return it and started to threaten negative feedback.
Then she wanted me to pay the dry-cleaning costs for which she had no receipts and also claimed that the cleaning had left the dress unwearable.
Then she said that I should refund £19 to her because she had seen that I'd only paid £11 for the dress and that she was reporting me to ebay as that wasn't allowed.
I stopped replying to emails after that.
She slated me for not replying to her emails ........ in my reply I pointed out that I'd responded quickly to the first 14 ........

CoolToned · 16/09/2016 23:25

I sold a brand new unopened foundation on eBay. Sent it to the eBay address. Apparently it is to be sent to another address - the one on Paypal. Admittedly I didn't check because I just assumed it was the same. Anyway I said just refuse and send it back to the sender.

One month later the item still hasn't arrived. I tried tracking multiple times (it's through Australia Post) and finally the tracking was updated - it was delivered back to the buyer, who sent it back to me! Australia Post said I should tell the buyer to put return to sender - buyer said she did, three times!

Buyer was very nice and just brought the item here, and left the item in the concierge of the hotel she was staying at, for me to pick up.

Rattusn · 16/09/2016 23:29

I had a buyer buy a large item, collection only due to size.

I message them asking when they would like to collect, no answer, I message a few days later saying if they don't wish to complete the sale that's fine but please let me know so I can relist, no answer. I then ask for their contact details from eBay, call them, and they say they have no clue about this and someone is using their number. I later get a text from the same number saying they aren't interested in buying it, it was a mistake. Well why not just say so? The whole someone has stolen my number charade was a bit strange.

Rattusn · 16/09/2016 23:30

I then got feedback saying I was nice but the sale didn't complete.

Roseformeplease · 16/09/2016 23:31

A friend bought a very cheap dining room table and chairs. He was so chuffed he went back on to find out what else he could buy from this amazingly cheap furniture company.

Turned out they sold dolls' house furniture. Table was 6inches, not 6ft. Seller graciously refund his £11.99 plus free postage.

Cocklodger · 16/09/2016 23:37

I had a tv for sale, really nice, lovely condition. We had 100 bids on it and it reached 180 pounds.
Buyer turns up to collect.
Buyer states they do not have 180 pounds but can give me 50. I politely asked them what they were thinking bidding on an item they simply couldn't afford? They stammered a bit and I just said well I have to go now since you won't be buying and shut the door. They sat outside for 10 mins then drove off. I sold the tv next day via gumtree for 170

Purplefrogshoes · 16/09/2016 23:37

I bought a pair of Dr martens listed as bnwb, they arrived with a dirty sock scrunched up in each boot Confused

MissMoo22 · 16/09/2016 23:57

Sold a bundle of newborn clothes and got a message shortly after auction ended saying they were looking forward to receiving them as they were struggling as their partner had left them and they had nothing in for the baby due in a few days. So I felt really awful and packed up the other bundles which hadn't sold and sent them all to her with a quick note just saying I added in some other things I thought she might make use of.

She left neutral feedback saying one of the things FROM THE FREE BUNDLES was too washed out. I paid more in postage for all the bundles than she paid for the one she won.

My best selling experience was buying a Next top for £5 odds but I didn't like how it looked on me so I listed it again. It sold for £45! I have no idea why someone paid that much for it when there were 2 listings for it brand new for less.

CointreauVersial · 16/09/2016 23:58

Frisky - don't tell me you accepted a Paypal payment for a collection-only item??!

The buyer can open an "item not received" case, and as you have no proof of delivery Paypal will side with the buyer and refund them.

You should only accept cash for collection items. I hope this gets sorted out in your favour - that's a lot to lose.

LovelySpread · 17/09/2016 00:09

I sell ancient worn shoes to foot fetishists. Some of the messages are very special. One asked if I would sell him my toenail clippings. I didn't but I was tempted to send him DH's (horrible) ones.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 17/09/2016 00:10

The try-ons from buyers are getting so obvious it's painful, and ebay seem to do absolutely nothing about them - nothing about rogue sellers either, come to that, providing they're BIG sellers and make a lot of commission for them Hmm

I sold my late father's fully working watch, only to be told by the buyer it was broken. Obviously I offered a refund but he insisted "oh no, I'll keep it" which nobody in their right mind would do. No doubt he was hoping for a refund and to keep the watch ...

MargaretCabbage · 17/09/2016 00:32

I bought a piece of flat pack furniture and when I opened it the main pieces were missing. The seller said they'd never opened it and I was lying, but they'd clearly chopped the box down to fit the maximum one metre length for the courier. The missing pieces were supposed to be over one metre long, so they'd obviously not included them. The whole thing was bizarre and they sent loads of abusive messages. EBay found in my favour.

I was having a clear out once and was getting rid of loads of 'novelty' items a relative used to buy me, and sold a ball that giggled when it hit something for 99p. The buyer asked to return it as it didn't work, and when I questioned it she admitted it did work but said that she was very, very weak and it was hard for her to throw it. She kept it in the end.
